Chapter 18 - Interlude

??? POV

"Don't get too far okay!" I shouted to my daughters. They were triplets.

"Yes mom!" "Okay!" "Yes!" They often play at the park but I always need to remind them. I couldn't join them today sadly, because today is the day I have to clean the whole house.

One cleaning session later,

"Mom we're home!" I watched as they enter the house, dirty from all the playing they did.

"Welcome back. And you three need a bath."

" " "Okay!" " " Then they rushed towards the bathroom. A few minutes later, I heard a voice.

"I'm back."

"Welcome home Dear." I replied. I kissed my husband who just came home from work.

"Where are my little princesses?"

"They're taking a bath."

"I see. Do you still?"

"Yes. There's no day that I don't."

"Then–"

"But I think he's happier with his adoptive family. It took us 8 years before we can finally settle and make sure that our family will be safe."

"I know. But you can't deny that you're hurting yourself." He replied. Yes it hurts. I never spent time with my firstborn. We were separated for so long.

"I know that! It's just that... We left him for too long! What if he hates us? What if he's angry with us? I... I don't want to imagine seeing his angry face..." My baby boy...

"I'm sure he'll understand. He takes on you the most, so I'm sure he too is the same as you, understanding."

"I...–"

"Mom! We're done!"

Without saying anything, I walked towards the bathroom where my daughters are. I forced a smile on my face to show my daughters that everything is fine.

"Come here you three. Let's get you all dressed."

It was now bedtime. We had dinner earlier.

"Mom?"

"Yes, Kaori?"

"Do you think big brother will like us?"

"I'm sure he will." I replied. I'm sure that he'll dote on his little sisters.

"Do you think he hates us?"

"Kana!" Kaori shouted.

"Why do think so?" I asked.

"Well, we three grew up with you but he didn't. So I was thinking that he'll hate us because of it." She replied, her head hung down.

Will he hate us?

It was a question all of us was asking to ourselves. Kana just voiced out our thoughts.

"I...–"

"If he don't! Then I'll use my cute face to make him like me!" Kazue, the youngest of my triplets, balled and raised her fist in declaration.

"That's a great idea Kazue!"

"If we combine our cute faces together?"

"Then we will defeat big brother!"

I let out a small chuckle, what was I worrying about? Even if he hates us, as long as he doesn't hate his little sisters, that's enough for me. "Use your cute beam against your brother okay?"

"""Okay!"""

"Alright, goodnight." I kissed their foreheads and left the room.

Tomorrow is another day.

3rd Person POV

"Kuou? I haven't been there in a long time. I wonder how's Kazumi and Itsuki."

"Someone you know?"

"They're my childhood friends!"

"I see. You're going to visit them?"

"Of course!"

"Just make sure you'll do your part properly."

"Leave it to me."

3rd Person POV

"Freed died? No matter, we can find another one. Valper?"

"It's almost finished, give me more time."

"Well hurry up." He then sniffed the air, "I can almost smell the war. This time for sure, the world will know that the Fallen Angels are the ultimate beings!"
