surprising rescue?

After finally breaching the research facility, Raiden and Yasaka were greeted by a barrage of magical spells hurled in their direction. Despite the attack, neither of them showed any sign of panic.

Raiden calmly reached between her chest and drew her sword. With a single, graceful swing, she cut through all the spells, shattering them along with their casters. The heads of the defeated enemies rolled across the floor as Raiden stood unwavering.

A quick glance around the room revealed the fallen were not only demons but also humans. However, Raiden didn't dwell on it long—she had two girls to save. While she focused on the task at hand, she failed to notice the look of admiration and love in Yasaka's eyes. It had been far too long since she'd seen Raiden in action, and even a single swing of her sword was something to behold.

As they continued deeper into the facility, they saw numerous corpses of kidnapped victims from various races. Tragically, the most numerous among the dead were yokai. Nekomatas, tengu, kappas, and even Yuki-onna were all subjected to inhumane experiments by these devils.

It was painfully clear that the devils did not care about offending the yokai. With their guardian missing and the gods they once worshipped indifferent, the yokai were left vulnerable. Even if these horrors were exposed, the yokai wouldn't be able to retaliate effectively. At best, they could only complain.

But now Raiden had returned—to exact vengeance on those who had hurt her people.

As they moved through the halls, they finally found one of the last surviving nekomatas. A beautiful brunette with cat ears, even through her injuries, her beauty shone through.

Raiden knelt beside her. "Hello, little one. We've come to save you," she said gently, petting the girl, oblivious to the slight jealousy in Yasaka's eyes.

The girl, Kuroka, brightened with hope. "Save us? Really?"

Raiden gave an awkward, hesitant smile, clearly unused to such gestures. "Yes, little one. What's your name? I'm Raiden."

"I'm Kuroka, ~meow~," she purred, enjoying Raiden's touch. But then her expression turned serious. "Raiden, you must save my little sister, Shirone! ~meow~ They're about to experiment on her! ~meow~"

Without hesitation, Raiden slashed through the cell bars with her sword, freeing Kuroka. "Then we must hurry."

With Kuroka now by their side, they rushed toward the heart of the facility. There, the head researcher was preparing to conduct an experiment on Shirone, unaware of the chaos outside.

Just as the experiment was about to begin, the doors were kicked open. The researcher looked up, immediately recognizing Kuroka, Yasaka—leader of the yokai—and a strange, beautiful woman beside her. He understood the situation at once.

Grabbing Shirone, he held a needle to her neck. "Don't take another step!" he threatened.

Kuroka froze in fear, more concerned for her sister's life than her own. Yasaka, too, stopped, unsure of how to proceed, but she felt a measure of calm knowing Raiden was there.

Raiden halted as well, her mind racing for a way out of this situation. She muttered to herself, "Bats are annoying as always... using a child as a hostage."

Hearing her words, the researcher, sensing no fear from this strange woman, pressed the needle closer to Shirone's neck. "Listen, Kuroka. If you kill the two beside you, I might consider letting your sister go."

Kuroka hesitated. The two women had come to save her and Shirone, but now her sister's life hung in the balance. Could she really betray them when they saved her and trust the word of a devil who had called her a useless animal?

Yasaka opened her mouth to speak, but Raiden stopped her, curious to see what Kuroka would do in this desperate situation.

After what felt like an eternity, Kuroka made her choice. She looked pleadingly toward Raiden, silently asking for help. Raiden, satisfied with her decision, decided it was time to end this clown fiesta.

The head researcher, realizing Kuroka had rejected his offer, moved to kill Shirone. But before he could act, Raiden transformed into her Baleful Shadowlord form, and with one swift move, unleashed a technique she had just modified. This technique could bypass any shield, magical or otherwise, and cut through its target.

The massive sword passed through Shirone without harming her and sliced the researcher into hundreds of pieces, focusing on his torso and head, leaving only his legs and arms behind.

As the last enemy fell, Kuroka ran to Shirone and embraced her tightly. Relief washed over her. She had placed her trust in the right person, and her sister was safe.

Raiden and Yasaka allowed the sisters a moment of reunion. Yasaka felt a weight lift from her shoulders, knowing that at least two nekomatas had survived. Smiling, she gently kissed Raiden's cheek.

"We did it. We saved at least these two," Yasaka said softly.

Raiden turned away, a little embarrassed. This was her first kiss in this new life. "I guess we did."

Yasaka teased her, "~Fufufu~, so even the strongest can get embarrassed, hmm?"

Before she could tease Raiden further, Raiden's expression turned serious and cold again.

As the sisters finished their reunion, Raiden approached them. "You two aren't safe yet. You understand that, right? Devil's will most likely try hunt you down now that you kills your master"

The two nekomata nodded in unison, their synchronized movements making for an adorable sight.

"What about living in my palace?" Raiden offered. "You'll have food, water, shelter—everything you could ever need."

Shirone looked hopefully at Kuroka, silently pleading for her to agree. Raiden had saved them and seemed wealthy, given her connection to Yasaka, the leader of the yokai.

After thinking for a moment, Kuroka asked cautiously, "There's no such thing as free lunch... what do you want from us?"

Raiden considered the question before answering. "How about you both become my personal maids?"

Kuroka was surprised by the offer. "But we don't know anything about housework or proper etiquette. ~Meow~"

"Everyone starts somewhere. You'll learn," Raiden replied matter-of-factly.

After a moment of consideration, Kuroka agreed.

They gathered evidence from the facility and left. Kuroka shielded Shirone's eyes from the bloodied sight as they exited. Once outside, Raiden used her sword to bury the entire facility.

Just as they were about to enter Raiden's palace, she sensed something. She instructed Yasaka to show the new maids around the palace before teleporting away like lightning.

Raiden reappeared before a man, crucified and burning. She took him down, gently touching his scorched skin before using her lightning to heal him. She didn't fully heal his wounds, leaving him barely alive as a test of his resolve and will. If he couldn't survive this, he wouldn't be able to live with the burns that covered his body. As no magic could most likely heal him fully the flame was blessed

Without a second thought, she teleported away, not caring that the man had caught a glimpse of her.

Unaware of the ripple effects this small act of kindness would cause, Raiden finally retired to her bed. As she lay down, she couldn't help but wonder why she had decided to take in the two nekomata as maids.

Remembering she was cursed like the original Raiden Shogun, she muttered a small complaint to ROB about how everything in her kitchen ended in disaster—even when she followed recipes to the letter.

With that thought, Raiden drifted off to sleep, her mind finally at peace.
