Small Human

"Can I have four fruit sandwiches." Muichiro said looking at a man behind a stall.

"No problem!" The man said with quite a bit of excitement in his voice. "That'll be twelve hundred and fifty yen, young man."

He put a white papper bag in front of Muichiro and used a towel to wipe his hands. Muichiro took the bag and set the man's payment beside it.

He turned and lift letting the next person in line step up. The boy yawned blocking his face from the sun beaming down on him.

Muichiro walked through the streets blocking out all of the loud sounds until he arrive at a small park near the middle of the town.

"Mui!"

Muichiro looked over and say Mitsuri sitting on a bench. His face drop when he saw the child eating something next to her.

Mitsuri motioned him to come over with a big smile. Muichiro liked that smile, but not the little human sitting next to her. The boy pointed at himself and watched as she giggled and nodded.

Muichiro put his hand down and shook his head no. He blinked and turned around looking for a tree to sit on until the child leaves, but he couldn't do that. He wish he could though.

Mitsuri sprinted over to him and graded his hand, pulling him over to the bench. He frowned looking between her and the child.

"Come on, Mui. It's just a cute kid." Mitsuri said. "It's not a demon."

"Correction, it's a loud, smelly, disgusting, small person." Muichiro shook his head. "I could of listed many more things as well, mind you."

Mitsuri gasped and flicked his forehead.

"Stop being mean! Children are cute and sweat little things!"

"I never said they weren't." Muichiro rubbed his forehead looking at her. "I was just listing the MANY negatives."

"Well, do you want me to list the MANY positives." Mitsuri said mockingly. She stuck out her tongue and tilted her head down slightly since she was a bit taller than him.

Muichiro stood there silently wishing he had a camera to capture this moment.

"Hm." He hummed deciding to end their little 'argument' there. Muichiro just wanted to eat, go look for clues about the demon, and leave. He wanted to kill the demon tonight and leave right away.

He had better things to do, like training for one. Training with Kyojuro was a bit of fun for him, although he wouldn't admit it since the man would never let him hear the end of it. Muichiro wanted to resume his little project as well.

Ultimately, he just had to suck it in and sigh loudly, letting the girl drag him along.

Mitsuri sat Muichiro down on the edge of the bunch and sat between him and the child. Mitsuri smiled and looked at the child, a complete opposite to Muichiro's expression at the moment.

"Hi, Aki, this is a really close friend of mine, his name is Tokito Muichiro. I hope you two can get along" Mitsuri leaned down and then whispered. "He doesn't talk much, unless it's with our other friends."

"Oki!" Aki smiled, nodding his head.

"I can hear you, you know." Muichiro said, staring at the her blackly. "I'm half blink not half deaf, there's a difference."

Mitsuri giggled followed by Aki, but she at least tried to hide it. However, it was Muichiro, he had spend pointless hours talking with her.

He could tell when she was happy and when she was trying to hold back laughter, and both happened very often. The Mist Hashira looked at the small child and raised a brow.

"Why are you laughing, do you even know what those words mean." Then he turn to Mitsuri. "Where is it's parents, or guardian."

"First of all, Mui, not 'it', 'his'. The boy is a human." Mitsuri slapped the back of Muichiro's head when he was about to open his mouth. "Don't you dare say what we both know you were going to say. If you do, no milk tea for a week."

That was it, the one thing that could get Muichiro to do almost anything. Milk tea. More specifically, Mitsuri's milk tea. As long has she could make some damn good mill tea, she had him wrapped around her finger.

Muichiro had made it clear that he has an unnatural obsession with milk tea, so Mitsuri was going to use that as a bit of leverage.

With his life line... well, on the line. The boy shut his mouth and threw away the key until further notice, of until he forgets.

"And to answer your question." Mitsuri said. "He said he lost his mom, his dad is... what did you say again?"

'Aren't I meant to be the one with short term memory?' Muichiro thought, blinking a few times, but he didn't say this out loud. He was only stupid when he was with Tengen and Kyojuro.

"Papa is always at work his time! Mama and me were going to visit grandma, but I ended up here somehow."

"Sounds like a you probably." Muichiro said, he didn't react when Mitsuri glared at him. "What? I'm not wrong, you know."

Muichiro shrugged closing his eyes. He may be walking on a tight rope at the moment but he is a swordsman, he had excitement balance.

Mitsuri turn her head away from him with a "Hump!", making the boy turned his head to face her slowly.

"Really?" Muichiro asked, finding it hard to believe his girl. Mitsuri nodded and crossed her arms.

Both of them were about to start up their playful argument again when Aki giggled at them.

"What?" Muichiro and Mitsuri asked at once. Muichiro was terrible with children, so he didn't know if he said something to make a child laugh or not.

As for Mitsuri, she just didn't know why the boy giggled at them.

"You two act like my Mama and Papa!"

"H-Huh!" Mitsuri shouted, her face turning a bright shade of red while Muichiro just shrugged, not knowing how he should react to that statement.

After a few minutes of Mitsuri and Aki chatting, a woman ran into the park looking around frantically.

"Aki! Please come out, mommy's not playing games!"

Aki jump from the bunch and ran over to the woman.

"Mommy!"

She looked at him feeling quite a few emotions, joy, relief, guilt, but she was happy she found her son. The woman wouldn't of know what to do if her child went missing, exspecualy with people going missing all around the town as of late.

She fell to her knees and entranced the child in a tight hug afraid he would run off again.

Muichiro looked up and clasped his hands together.

"Thank God, I don't know which one, but thank you. Maybe Amaterasu since it's the day time." Muichiro said.

The boy was quite pleased that he didn't have to deal with the small human anymore, however Mitsuri had different thoughts though.

She frowned a bit that Aki would now have to leave them. She liked the kid but knew it would have to happen.

Muichiro notice her aura change and sighed to himself. He took out one the fruit sandwiches and give it to her patting he head.

"Here."

"Thank you." Mitsuri said, a small blush of her face as she took dig bits out of the sandwich.

"It's okay, you'll get kids at some point in the future. I'm sure they'll be just as cute, if not cuter than it... him." Muichiro said.

"Mh." Mitsuri hummed, a smile formed on her lips seeing Muichiro trying to comfort her. She knew he didn't show this much affection to anyone else but her.

However, Muichiro doesn't do that on purpose. It just happens. When he's with Tengen and Kyojuro he's either messing around or messing with others.

When fight demons, he's very spiteful for some reason, and with her he's very soft and caring.

'I don't deserve her.' Is what Muichiro usually thinks when he's around her. When he wants something, he just takes it or does it himself, but not her.

He just can't push himself to stay away from her, and he knew that would get him killed in the future. He was sure if it.

After Aki and his mother left, Muichiro and Mitsuri sat there eating the fruit sandwiches he had gotten. Muichiro didn't have them often but they were nice.

It was perfect for a hot day like that one. For once, Muichiro didn't feel like having milk tea. A truly unbelievable phenomenon, and he didn't like it.

Muichiro just wanted something cold to drink and sweet to drink.

"Hey, Mui, we should start looking for information about the demon, shouldn't we?" Mitsuri asked.

"Yes, but it a few minutes..." Muichiro paused, adroitly looking away from Mitsuri.

Muichiro felt two strong yet familia auras. He could almost remember the name of one of them, the other, he forgot that one and didn't care much.

"Hey! Mui! Long time no see!"

'Knew it.' Muichiro thought looked at the two walking over to them.
