Chapter 26 – Hunting

Come to think of it, I didn't have time this morning to do my daily log. I immediately opened the system and logged in.

Without hesitation, I gave it yes. Skill orbs in a daily log are very rare as rewards are chosen randomly. A player can spend years waiting for one to go without success.

I was thrilled when I saw the name of the skill. This was a necessary and unique skill for the hunter class. They allowed you to gather information about the creatures in the vicinity and even allowed you to chase down your victims. This skill was only sold 5 times in total on the player market, reaching an auction price of 10 thousand platinum coins.

I used the skill without batting an eyelid. Instantly, my entire range of vision widened, and beast marks now glowed in shades of green. I could know the information of which creature had left these footprints and how many there were. This skill was exceptional. The only bad thing was his catch-up. At level one, it only allowed me to track creatures within a 500-meter radius.

I noticed other goblin footprints making the ability show me the approximate direction. In my vision, yellow sparks showed me the way to find the prey.

Lena remained silent as she looked at me with different eyes. Now I looked like an experienced hunter tracking his prey.

We walked for 10 minutes until we finally saw two goblins. Both were holding wooden spears with a stone at the tip. I motioned for Lena to take care of the goblin on the left while I finished off the other one.

I grabbed a rock on the ground and threw it into the bushes on the other side. The noise alarmed the goblins who went exploring. Both Lena and I had wielded our swords. When the goblins separated, we came out of the bushes and attacked them.

The goblins, alarmed by the noise, grabbed their spears and attacked us. I wanted to see the difference between me and a goblin so I used evaluate. While dodging their thrusts.

Looking at her stats, I realized that Lena would be in trouble. I had to finish this fast. I couldn't let my new toy get hurt.

I turned my body slightly and deflected the spear, allowing me to land a kick all over the monster's solar plexus as if it were a football. Due to the force in the blow, the goblin flew away. Without missing an opportunity, I moved quickly to the side and buried my sword in his chest.

I looked at Lena who was struggling with everything she had. The goblin moved quickly, not allowing Lena to breathe. Sweat ran down his wood-burning forehead, a serious vibe. On the other hand, the goblin looked relaxed, leaving small cuts in places where it was not protected by armor.

If I took care of the monster, Lena wasn't going to learn anything. She was my guardian so she must have been relatively strong. As she struggled, I extracted the core and tasted some of the goblin's green blood. The taste was bitter almost like medicine.

My mind felt light for a moment before returning to normal. This was weird. Normally you would only get one skill or free stat points. Which means that goblin's blood did have a different effect than human blood. Wanting to test my theory, I looked at the second goblin who was fighting Lena. I took the spear of the goblin I killed and threw it.

The goblin felt a stabbing pain before losing his life, falling to the ground still holding his spear. I looked at Lena and said.

-     Your job is to defend me and not the other way around.

Lena looked down, not daring to say anything to me.

-     Keep an eye on the surroundings until I pull out the core.

I pulled out the goblin's core and at the same time plunged my fang into its neck.

Goblin blood gives me a random skill point. This was an interesting discovery. You may need to test if the same is true for other creatures.
