The cries of a woman echoed all around the palace, as she anticipated for her fourth son in joy. Several nurses were at her beck and call, as they used healing magic to soothe the queen's pain. On the furthest corner of the room they were in, sat the King. His dark hair contrasted deeply with the golden crown on his head. His bright green eyes eyed the queen, as he also waited for their to be child.
"All of your other three children have shown extraordinary talent, I am sure this one will as well, my King," One nurse said.
"Of course, it is only natural. As a member of the Leighton royal family, our child shall be a prodigy," the king said as he stood up and went to sit beside his wife, holding her hand.
Outside, it started raining, as if welcoming the new child into the world or....
Maybe the world was crying, as if it knew what would happen to the child.
Lighting lit up the dim lit room, revealing a baby, being cradled by a nurse.
"It's a boy, my King."
The baby cried passionately, releasing its voice for the first time in the world.
As the queen took her baby, cradling her in her arms, the baby smiled a bit, looking up at his mother.
The two looked at their baby, adoring his blonde hair, his delicate face and his light blue eyes that seemed to glow in the dim lit room.
"What a handsome child, my King." One man said as he came into the room.
"Yes, he has clearly inherited his mother's hair and beauty." The king replied as he stood up, greeting the man with a firm handshake. The said man was tall and was extremely pale. He had white hair and crimson red eyes. He was dressed in a black suit and a pastel shirt with white gloves and a black tie that had a red dragon engraving on it. He approached the bed where the queen was and knelt on his right knee.
"I see you are as healthy as always, my Queen," he said as he removed his left glove, revealing a hand with intricate markings that seemed to glow a faint white colour.
"You may rise, Julius," the queen said.
Julius looked at the baby who was staring at him innocently, lifting up its hands, as if wanting to be lifted by him.
"Blue eyes, now that's rare, I have never seen them." Julius said.
"We shall look into that later, but for now, proceed with the Regium Pertento." The king ordered.
"As you wish."
Regium Pertento; The royal test. It is a test that is done by the royal families to test the magical capabilities, vessel size, strengths and abilities of the children born into the royal family. As a royal, one must have enough power to reign over a kingdom, they need to be above everyone else.
Julius started chanting as a red aura filled the room and seven crests appeared all around the room.
"All of you, leave at once." Julius ordered the nurses who were in the room.
"Now, let's see how good this child will be," Julius said to himself as a single crest in the room glowed.
The three looked at the crest as their facial expressions changed.
"Julius... is that..."
Julius stared at the crest that was glowing, confirming what he was seeing.
"A crest with A single crest with a knight at the middle... He is of the Low order ranks..." Julius muttered, although they all heard what he had said.
"Impossible! How can a royal family child be of the low order ranks! How!" The king shouted.
"Calm down dear..." The queen said gently, fearing what was going to happen to her child.
"I apologize if this might sound rude, my King.. But I am afraid this is the baby's true rank. He is of the low order ranks.." Julius said.
"Wh- which rank in specific?" The queen asked.
"Tria."
The two went mute, as they all pondered what to do. If word got out that their child was of Tria in the low order, their family name would be tarnished and other kingdoms would taunt them for eternity.
"Priscia.. I know you know what action we should take.." the king spoke in a strict tone.
The queen gasped, as she knew about their history very well: They would need to get rid of the baby immediately, by burning it with magic until nothing was left. Tears started brimming on her eyes as she cradled the baby tighter. She felt the baby's warm hand on her face, as if it were trying to wipe the tears on her face.
"Vettel dear... Please.. I beg of you... We can hide him from the world! We can try to-"
The king shook his head as he looked at Julius.
"I will excuse myself," Julius said as he exited the room. As he did so, the Queen's sobs were faint, but they echoed in the room and the hall way outside.
Julius leaned on the door, waiting for the king's call.
"Born a failure, he will be disposed of... Poor kid." He thought.
"Julius, come in," he heard. He opened the door and saw the queen, her head sandwitched between her legs, as she sobbed silently. The baby was being cradled in the king's hands. He approached Julius, handing him the baby. His eyes looked serious, emotionless and mostly... They were glowing, revealing his anger.
"Julius, you know what has to be done. Go into the forest of beasts, and kill it there,"
Julius stared at the king for a second, before blowing slightly.
"As you wish, my king."
His shoes pattered in the hallway as he exited the palace, enveloped in the dark of night. As he passed the throne room, he saw three shadows in front of him.
"So this is our sibling?" A feminine voice asked. Her body, although not visible in the dark night, was the tallest among the three.
"Yes, this is him."
"Where . Are you taking him?" A male voice asked. He sounded concerned as the young boy approached Julius.
"Young masters... I can not really explain this to you... You shall hear it from the King and Queen soon."
"I can hear mother sobbing... By this, I assume that... He is weak in magic, right?" Another male voice asked. He sounded more mature, around his teenage years.
"Unfortunately, yes, and I am going to do the necessary, now if you will excuse me.." Julius said as he passed past them, heading out to the moon lit royal space, as he pondered on what he was going to do to the child,
Because killing him was one thing he would never do.
