My stomach rumbled in protest as I examined one of the Impressionist paintings. I was lost in the color when the loud rumble got my attention and Gretal’s. She laughed as her own stomach answered in reply.
“I think we need to take a short break. What do you say?”
“Do we have a choice?”
“Not if we don’t want to get kicked out for disrupting the peace. There is a little café up here that has a wonderful view. We can grab a light lunch and enjoy some rest. How does that sound?”
I laughed as my stomach answered for her. “Lead on.”
We didn’t have far to go to get to the café. Getting salads and drinks, we walked out to the terrace that overlooked the Seine. The view was breathtaking. I thought the view at the cathedral was the best, but now I wasn’t so sure. It was a different kind of beauty that called out to me.
