Chapter 8: SHIT
Vince POV
We pulled into the parking lot after what felt like 3 hours of driving, I can already smell the wolves inside.
Victor, please tell me you can hide our scent?
I can hide the Alpha aura but as for the normal wolf smell, you might have to deal with that when we get in there. He replies.
Hopefully living with humans pays off.
We enter the restaurant and I can already feel the eyes on me, looking around I find what I assume to be warriors from a nearby pack eating. Mary does all the talking while I stay close to Violet. We get seated in the corner of the room, I have Violet inside the booth that's against the wall and I sit down next to her.
"So what's good here?" I ask Mary, who is across from us. Keeping my eyes on the rest of the room.
"Pretty much everything, I always get the brunch special which is; eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, hashbrowns and toast. Or you can have them make that into a brunch sandwich." she answers mouth watering while looking at the menu.
Violet pokes me, "You okay?" I nod, keeping my head forward.
"I normally get the brunch sandwich on toast." Violet continues.
Standing up I say, "I will have that. Can you order for me? I am going to go to the bathroom." Violet nods and I can feel her eyes watch me leave.
I watch the warriors follow me with their eyes, giving them a nod in respect I find the bathroom.
"Do you know who's territory you're a rogue?" I turn from the sink and see 4 warriors ready for a fight.
"Rogue?" I chuckle. "I am not a rogue. I am on assignment to watch over the human family I came in with, I was unaware we were entering your territory. I am not here to cause problems, just to eat and leave." I stand tall while talking.
"What pack are you from?" one of the warriors demanded.
"I do not answer to warriors. If you would like to call your Alpha or Beta, I will speak with him or her." I finish getting growls in return.
Victor, be ready to drop my aura. Getting a growl in return.
I watch as one warrior's, my guess is the head warrior, eyes glaze over and I know he's mind linking with someone.
"Alpha Zane of the Diamond Den Pack will be here shortly, you may return to the human family but you will not leave until he authorizes." The warrior states. I nod in response and walk between the four warriors back to my table.
I find my table and Violet looks concerned watching the four men leave behind me.
"Vince, what's going on?" Violet asks without her eyes leaving the warriors.
"They wanted to know how I got my big muscles." I joke to her, getting a glare in return. "What? Go ask them if you would like." I stand for her to leave the booth but she pulls me back down.
"We ordered your food sweetie. I hope the water is okay." Mary chines in.
"Perfect. Thank you." I smile back at her.
Violet and Mary continue to make small talk about her hours the next two weeks when the food arrives.
"Thank you." I say to the waitress who is having a hard time controlling her lust. I look at Violet and smile mouthing 'Help', she takes the hint and cuddles close to me causing the waitress to clear her throat and quickly walk away.
"Thanks. I was worried she was going to ask me out of something." I say to Violet, getting a laugh from Mary.
We are halfway done with our food and I watch a black SUV pull up followed by 3 more. SHIT is all I can think as I watch the warriors head outside.
Vic be ready!
"I will be right back." I say to the women before wiping my mouth and leaving the table. I can hear Violet call to me. Please stay there, I pray to the Moon Goddess.
Walking out the door all heads turn to me. I walk behind one of the SUV's so I am out of sight from Mary and Violet.
"Alpha Zane, pleasure to meet you." I say holding my hand out.
"Why are you in my territory rogue?" He growls, slapping my hand away.
"First," pointing to myself, "not a rogue. Second, if you could give me a minute to explain, I will be happy to." I finish watching his eyes flash black.
Victor, please release my aura. Within seconds I watched as the warriors and Alpha faces turned confused.
"My name is Alpha Vince Carter of the Red Moon Pack," I continue on with my explanation, finding even the Alpha furious at the rogue attack. "I am currently living a human life with a human family, until I get my strength back." I finish and wait for a response.
"Red Moon Pack?" Alpha Zane questions. I nod. "I heard the whole Alpha family was murdered and then the Beta family took over. I saw Alpha Henry and his son at our last Alpha meeting a few weeks ago." I growl at the drop of Alpha Henry's name.
"He is no rightful Alpha!" I growl out.
"Alpha Vince, I am sorry for your loss, but your pack has accepted them as Alpha. Would you like me to pass a message on?" He asked.
"No, I don't want anyone to know I am alive. I will find my evidence of treason and take back my pack. If you could keep my status to yourself, when I get my pack back, I will be forever in your debt."
"How do you plan to get back into Alpha shape while living with a human family? You can't shift, train or get proper treatment with them." He curiously asks.
"I turn 18 in a few weeks. I believe the younger female is my mate, I already feel the pull towards her. She will make me stronger." I get interrupted by Alpha Zane.
"I understand. I will have to talk to my Luna, but if you would accept. You can stay here in my pack until you are able to move on." He offers.
"I must decline, I will not leave my mate. I would ask if I could get a job with your pack for a wage. The human family wants me to work for my living situation but I can't stock shelves at a grocery store." I watch as he thinks it over.
"I do have an office position open training our pups." He says.
"I'll take it. I do live about an hour away. I would ask that any days that Violet is off, I have off too." He agrees to my conditions.
"Would you mind introducing me to your future Luna?" Alpha Zane asked.
"Only you, they don't know of our kind and I don't want an army walking in." I say turning and walking back into the restaurant.
Violet POV
I watch Vince disappear behind the black SUV's that just came flying in. What are you doing? I go to stand up but my mom stops me and continues to eat her food. I continue to tap at the table nervous that he's getting beat up. Finally, after what felt like a year, I see him come towards the building followed by a man a little taller than him.
I stand as he approaches us with the mystery man. Vince grabs my hand and squeezes it.
"Violet, Mary, this is Mr. Zane. He owns this restaurant and he wanted to meet the people who drove me an hour to try the food." Vince says with a big smile on his face. Zane shakes my mom's hand and then mine.
"Pleasure to meet you both. I am glad you love our food. I was just talking with Vince about a job we have opened. I think it's a perfect fit for him and he agrees. Vince explained that you are his guardian at the moment?" Mr. Zane asked my mom. She nodded in awe of this large man.
"Well Mrs…" Mr. Zane looked at Vince for a last name.
"Beck!" My mom drooled out.
"Mrs. Beck, I would like to offer Vince a company car, a nice wage and a family discount at the restaurant. How does that sound?" My eyes widen at his offers.
"Can I work here too?" I said out loud instead of in my head. Shit
A chuckle comes from Mr. Zane, "What do you do for a living Violet?"
"I am a nurse in Boise." I blush under his gaze, feeling Vince's chest vibrator and go into almost growl. I see Mr. Zane nod at Vince.
"I own a doctors office and I know they are always looking for talented and skilled nurses. I will put in a good word for you. I'm sure we can work out a schedule where you and Vince work the same hours."
I looked at him shocked, "I did not expect that to be the next thing you said."
"Well I will get your number from Vince," turning to my mom "the meal is on the house," then to Vince "I look forward to working with you." Shaking hands, he leaves, leaving my mom drooling in her hashbrown and Vince standing proud. As for me, I am so confused at what just happened.
"Are we ready to go?" Vince asked and all I could do was nod
