Chapter 7

"Professor Sterling. It is a great honor to be appointed as a teaching assistant in your class. But I can't take it. I am sorry." Christa turns down the offer again while standing in Professor Sterling's office at college on Monday morning.

"Enlighten me, please. "Kenneth Sterling has a commanding presence and a deep, authoritative voice. They appointed Kenneth Sterling to a professorship in economics at Hissruop university. He is in his late forties, quite tall, and his face takes on an unhealthy whitish hue; finishing his words and pats his growing paunch.

"I got married three days ago; when you are a wife and student, there is this inescapable, self-imposed pressure to do everything right all the time. "Christa repeats the boring cliche as she starts to look around; a name on the paper catches her attention.

"Professor Sterling. You are a very persuasive talker. Hence I accept the job. Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity." Christa interrupts; she feels she would like to stop this conversation in its tracks.

Professor Sterling is too stunned to speak, or Christa's words break his train of thought. Christa longed to break in on their conversation but didn't want to appear rude; it felt so good to do so.

"Excellent. You will start tomorrow. Please leave now as time is running out." Kenneth has virtually requested her to go.

Christa laughs and steps out of his office; she tosses back her head in a howl of berserk laughter in the hallway. Students should take full advantage of the university's facilities; Christa thinks so as she runs fast to the football field.

Weekends are the days she gets to be silly, for instance, being married to her killer. And now back to business. Christa would like to return to work or the state as soon as possible for her struggle to escape death. More importantly, she has a date with Evan.

Nowadays, people are quite busy with their careers or studies, therefore paying a formal visit to someone, you are supposed to make an appointment with them.

The Hissruop university is the top private university in the city; and also a money-making institution. Economists generally agree that a college degree pays off, but new research from Professor Sterling's team has even welled news for students planning on majoring in business: You don't have to go to a pricey private school to reap the biggest return. You're often better off at a public school.

Therefore the university football team can survive even if it sucks badly; Christa never goes to see the game or cheer up for them. When she finally arrives at the ground, the team members just finish their practice.

Christa sees from some distance away the handsome man sitting on top of a bench, with his feet dangling. Evan Moffy behaves badly both on and off the football field. Take a deep breath and slow down; Christa starts to move in his direction.

Just then, a girl with a tight skirt with a hemline at the knee runs up to him, handing him a bottle. Christa didn't enjoy watching Evan speaking to her; women feel disturbed when they see someone's too pretty.

It's not pleasant to discover you've been taken for a ride by someone you trusted; Christa shakes her head to let the thought go away. Evan doesn't take the cheerleader's offer; he waves at the walking lady the moment he sees Christa.

Their scents mix with an intense smell of sweat, which is too much for Christa. She can't keep herself from covering her nose with her hand.

"Right on time. Let's go." Evan clears the way for Christia.

"You need a shower. I will wait for you in the coffee shop." Christia is far away from speaking.

It follows the first two classes with a break of ten minutes. Evan reaches her after the second class is beginning, and the black coffee she ordered has not been delivered yet.

"I am glad you called me last night. Normally when people say he'd telephone another one, and then just never do it." Evan stands by her side, not going to take a seat.

"I am still wearing a ring. Please don't hint at me. Let's get into business, shall we?" Christa signs him to seat on the opposite.

Evan is casually dressed in a black checked shirt, tucked into jeans, and the refined and easy-to-style effortless dressing belt. His scent smells like her favorite fruit- strawberry.

"Flirting is harmless. There are too many eyes and ears here. Let me take you to a place that is much more private. Do you dare to come? "Evan leads his way out of the shop.

Christa follows him, out of the apartment building and the quiet campus, to the woods behind the college. Familiar childhood haunts were the village well and the wood behind the school, but Christa was in peace.

"Now we are clear. You can shift as you want. Please." Evan stops when they can't see the road, and he takes a deep sniff of air, a satisfied look appears.

"I am sorry. I don't know how." Christa looks down, troubled and shy like a child who has unwittingly done wrong.

The whisper of the leaves in the gentle breeze and the crunch of rubbing bones break the silence. Suddenly, a wolf stands in front of Christa; she feels so scared that she steps back.

This is her first time meeting a real living wolf face-to-face, his red eyes are blinking. The lady is afraid, and the wolf has sensed this. However, there is something else. Christa has the weird feeling that someone inside her is calling.

"Follow me, please." Evan has shifted back to his human form after a moment, topless. His six-pack stomach and extremely well-proportioned figure are a temptation to ladies as an expensive bicycle to thieves.

They travel into the heart of this immaculate forest, and a cabin surfaced. One could visualize a house in a forest as a background to this holy image. Christa's father always wants a house in the woods, but Dean's plan to build a forest cabin by the lake was just a pipe dream.

"My lady, after you." Evan stops at the door and delegates a pose of welcome.

"You haven't lived till you've learned how to yodel at a tea dance in a mountain hut!" Christa steps inside the cabin, muttering to herself. Christa knew almost immediately that someone was inside the house. He was standing near the table and made eye contact for three seconds.

"This is Solomon Bush- a werewolf. Our star player, he's been wait-listed for a football scholarship at the university." Evan introduces the local resident to her.

Soloman is in his early twenties, a little short than Evan but stronger and easy on the eye. He wears their fire-like shirt because red and white are the team colors.

"Nice to meet you. Christa. I've heard a lot about you. It is a pleasure to meet you in person, finally." Solomon gives his warm welcome.

"We had constructed this rude cabin for ourselves and our kind in case of necessity." Evan sits on the untidy sofa.

The cabin was built of logs, with electricity but no running water; looked as if a maniac had been let loose here. There was plain or simple furniture with square backs and arms and block-style legs.

Christa could see that the guys decorated this place themselves. The sofa would be less obtrusive in a paler color; the carpet was filthy, and she was not exaggerating. So she refuses to take a seat anywhere in the room. After exchanging the usual pleasantries, they are about to get down to a serious discussion.

"Christa, we should go with you to become a wolf-thing first. How did it happen? How did you become a she-wolf?" Evan asks the questions that bug him for two days.

"To be honest, I have no idea. I surfed the internet and searched for a large number of relevant materials. I don't think I fit the bill." Christa is frustrated. It's ridiculous to play it cool when you are not in the mood.

"When I first knew you are my mate about a year ago, I had made a thorough investigation. About you, your family and your friends. I am pretty sure both of your parents are just humans, and no one from your family is a werewolf, and neither are your friends. " Evan is concerned.

"You had nothing to do with wolf until the wedding day. I could tell by your scent something had changed, but it is totally different. Most of us are born werewolves; a few are born as humans and then transform into wolves under some circumstances. "Evan looks at Solomon.

"Oh, Evan was talking about my big brother's mate Charlotte Wood. She was a human and he turned her into a werewolf after they are mating together. But she was just like us now; half human and half wolf. What is your problem?" Solomon tries to mind-link but is refused by Evan.

"It would appear that she doesn't have an inner wolf. And her scent filled with a wolf smell. Did you shift on the full noon? Christa." Evan turns his face and stares at her beautiful face.

Christa was not going to tell them about the reborn. The moon goddess gave her another chance so she could seek vengeance. Being a werewolf might be a price she needs to pay. A victory was purchased at too great a price.

"I know something is wrong with me. Can we just leave it to be? It doesn't matter how I become a she-wolf right now. I need to tell you what is going on in the secret facility we went to yesterday." Christa squawks.

Before Christa could say another word, Evan put his finger over his lips to show silence. In a second, a girl burst in, making no effort to repress her fury.
