Chapter Fifty-Four: Letters to the Family: Anna

*The Day that Alex Left*

Anna entered her room and sat down on her bed. Her mind was thinking about every scenario about Alex: what if he gets hurt? What if something even worse happens? She won't be there to help him.

She had never been separated from Alex before, and now he was gone, and she didn't know where he was.

Tears started falling down her face as she looked at the letter in her hands—the letter Alex had left for her.

Anna nervously opened up the letter and started reading.

"Hey Mom,

Now first, let me apologize to you. I left you despite saying I'd stay with you. It turns out I might be a bit hypocritical, but there is a reason for it. I had to betray my own words in order to keep them. I said I would always protect you and be with you guys, but in order to do that, I had to leave. I met a woman; no, I didn't fall in love at first sight or anything like that, although she is gorgeous. She has a similar ability that I do. I never told you, really, but I'm going to be more honest in this letter than in the others because you're more knowledgeable. I possess the Lightning Origin. I don't know if you know what that is or not, but it is something that can and will make me stronger, and after I return, I will be using it to stay with you guys.

The woman I met, Adelia, also possesses an origin, and she has had it a lot longer than I have. She told me that her brother and she would help train me.

Once I feel like I have reached as far as I can here, I will return. I don't know exactly when, but always keep an eye out for me.

Now I need to ask for your favor.

Train Raven in all of your skills. I know you held back with us until you felt like we were ready. You're more powerful than you let on. Teach her everything, no matter how hard it is. I want her to be able to follow any path she wants, and if someone tells her no, she can stomp their asses into the ground.

We both know she has that potential. Teach her, and I will forever be grateful.

I love you, mom. I promise you that I will be back, and when I am, I will do as I originally promised."

Anna held the letter in her hands, still crying.

"Alex, I could've helped you. Why did you leave?" Anna said to herself.

"When did Alex get an Origin? I've only read about them in my family library when I was younger; I almost thought they were mythical." She thought to herself.

"Maybe I should check my sister's library again, and he said I should train Raven without restrictions...he's right, I need to think of a new training regime for her. After all, I don't doubt she will be doing everything she can to see him again."

With that, Anna found a new path to follow: to train Raven in her true family arts and to one day see her son again.
