I glanced around cautiously and reached out to pull Violette close to me.
"Anyone there?" Violette whispered, her gaze fixed on the alley.
I shook my head and focused on the figure not far down the alley.
Sensing our gaze, the figure swiftly disappeared.
Glancing at Dexter, I noticed the lingering hostility in his eyes as he stood in the dim alley, resembling Satan emerging from hell.
I cautiously called out, "Hey, Dexter?"
He turned to look at me.
I could see the hostility in his eyes fading away quickly, replaced by an innocent look as he said, "Sophia, I feel dizzy."
Then he collapsed onto me. His towering six-foot frame sprawled over mine.
I barely had a chance to resist. I could only let him rest on me.
"He looks skinny but weighs a lot," Violette remarked as she helped me support Dexter, guiding him to the roadside.
He appeared dizzy, his entire weight bearing down on my back.
