Chapter 1 - Reincarnation

When I opened my eyes, reality struck me. The blood that should have been all around me was nowhere to be seen, and my enemies had also disappeared.

I must have died, there was no other way to explain what was happening.

"Madam Naomi, what a handsome baby! I'm sure he will grow as cool as his father."

Looking up, I saw what seemed to be a nurse, she was comforting my mother, who cried helplessly and expressed concern with her crystal eyes. "Please, check my son, make sure that there's nothing wrong with him!"

Oh? Was she worried because I wasn't crying? Looking at the nurse and then back to my mother, I decided to give her at least this bit of assurance.

"Uwaaa!"

The nurse smiled at whom I assumed to be my mother, patting her head, she gently replied with a clear voice, as to make sure that my mother could hear it.

"Don't worry, Madam Naomi, there's no issue with the baby."

"Thank you..."

Seeing her happy smile, I stopped crying and looked at her in the eyes, trying my best to engrave her face in my mind.

She is my new mother, this woman who is called Naomi. I'm not sure why but this feeling is like a load getting off my back, after living such a stressful life, with death at every corner, and enemies all around, I'm finally getting a new chance at life, a chance to do better, to avoid those same mistakes from the past.

Being reborn as a baby should have felt strange, but I could just smile at my situation.

The nurse and my mother seemed to smile as well at my actions, and two started talking about something, I wasn't paying a lot of attention, but it seemed to be about someone who was gravely injured by raiders.

Looking around, I seemed to have no recollection of such a place in my world. The architecture felt so old and outdated, they didn't even seem to use heavy steel frames in thick layers of reinforced concrete, instead, it seemed that the whole place was built in a thin layer of what seemed to be a variation of cement and some other materials and timber frame.

Based solely on that, I instantly thought that maybe I had been reborn a few dozens of thousands of years in the past, unfortunately, several wars had wiped out any registers of this period in history, so I wasn't sure if I was right.

Suddenly, my mother frowned in pain and attracted my attention.

"Madam Naomi, are you okay?" The nurse approached quickly as she looked with concern at my mother.

"Agh... the stitches, I think they have opened..."

Hearing this, the Nurse went hurried to the door where she grabbed a very old model of a telephone and called a number. Not so long after, a woman in a white coat entered the room. She was young and beautiful, with an ample bosom, blonde hair, and clear brown eyes.

"What's the situation?" The woman asked in a serious voice befitting of her professional attitude.

After the nurse explained, the woman smiled and reached out with her hands. At that moment I almost gasped at the sight of what seemed to be a light green aura coating her hands.

What was that? What kind of ability could generate so much vitality out of nowhere!? I had seen healing arrays and runes, but never a skill that allowed one person to heal another directly!

If they had such ability in his time, wouldn't the wars be far less lethal? Would I have died at the hands of my enemies?

Watching carefully, I couldn't help but open my mouth while increasingly surprised. Blood had started to drench the shoulder of my mother by the time the woman had arrived, but in just a few seconds, it seemed like the wound was not only healed but closed as well.

And even though she was only focused on the shoulder wound, the rosy complexion of my mother told me just how much it affected her whole body!

Could such an effective healing technique really exist in the world?

How was she using Arcane energy exactly? Was it some kind of natural law that she comprehended?

"There, it's done." The woman smiled and turned around to leave, but before she could do so, my mother hurriedly thanked her.

"Princess Tsunade! Thank you! Really, thank you!"

The woman called Tsunade smiled, without turning back, she only left a few words that seemed to have ignited hope in my mother's eyes. "You don't have to thank me, I was just doing my job. By the way, the man that brought you here has been healed already by me, he won't be able to do heavy jobs for a month, but there's no more danger to his life."

Seeing how relieved my mother was after hearing that, I had some thoughts on who the man might be, unfortunately, no one seemed to mention his identity, so I could only wait for the information to find its way towards me.

-------------

A year has passed, and knowledge of this world astounded me to no end. Why do you ask? Well, I'm almost 80% sure that the place I came from and this one are not related in any way.

While people of this world appear to be versed in some sort of supernatural power, it doesn't seem to be Arcane energy that the humans of my world developed during the age of spacial colonization.

Their power needs mostly to be channeled by the use of seals, while all we needed to do was unlock our meridians to use our whole body as the very control module for Arcane energy. Also, their energy isn't natural, it took me a while to notice, but after staying in close contact with my mother, who was said to be a genin. I had the opportunity to feel and study their energy for some time.

This chakra that they use, isn't collected from the void, then assimilated, before being produced by their dantian. Instead, it seems that Chakra is a form of compost energy form that stems from the combination of vital and spiritual energy.

Vital energy, as I knew it, was mostly generated by the body naturally through mitochondria. Some Arcane warriors of his past life used to train in techniques that enhanced their body's vitality, and they did it by enhancing their physical body which consequently increased the number of those organelles in their bodies.

Spiritual energy was leftover energy produced by the aetherial soul, the information wonder that stores an intelligent being's state of information, to increase the production of spiritual energy, one only needed to increase the size of the information state, and this could be done through a great variety of ways, such as direct nourishment, physical training, learning, meditation and so on.

Even though I knew all that, never in my life had I or anyone in my world thought of fusing both energies, because it felt unnatural and contradictory. How could polar extremes, yang and yin energy be fused into one?

However, facts were there to prove the contrary, that it was indeed possible. Sighing, I couldn't help but be amazed at the ingenious creativity of the people of this world, even though their technology was so backward, they managed to naturally discover a form of supernatural energy. In comparison, the people of his world took approximately two hundred thousand years and countless technological advancements to come up with a way to make real things that used to be folklore...

Comparison sure was the mother of jealousy.

Shaking my head, I held onto my mother's bosom as I turned my head to observe the market. We lived in a village called Hidden Leaf Village. From the little I could gather in a year, it seemed to be a military type of settlement, so they had a far greater concentration of the so-called shinobi and kunoichi, the masters of Chakra manipulation, than other human settlements.

My father was a hired staff working at a Barbecue shop, while my mother simply stayed at home taking care of me, or spending time with her friends.

This world also seemed to have a great emphasis on nobility, which comes from the accumulation of heritage in the form of clans.

Due to then being so old and having a long time to accumulate their research, those clans were naturally stronger compared to civilian families starting in the path of ninjas, as such, they had a status that was above that of a commoner.

Their social structure, however, proved to be full of issues, as those clans with more powerful heritages seemed to be suppressed by the others. Even though he was only a kid and just went past his first year of life, he still managed to witness the resentment and envy in the eyes of those commoners whenever they put their eyes on members of the Uchiha clan and the Hyuga clan.

Although he wasn't sure of the reason, he could infer from the information he gathered with difficulty that they probably had powerful techniques which naturally made others without them envious.

Rather than being sympathetic towards them, I only felt nauseated and superior when compared to them. Jealousy was inevitable, but being so petty towards something that you can't have is borderline stupid.

If you hate so much your lack of privileges, why don't you start working harder towards stats that at least satisfy this desire of yours? Most, if not all of the people he saw casting over the top enraged gazes towards the people of the Uchiha and the Hyuga, had a mentality of waiting for something to fall from heavens in their laps, they didn't try to train or study, so how the hell were they expecting to overcome their superior neighbors?

It wasn't like this world suffered under the hands of a three-part power state like my previous world, where the clergy and the nobility did everything in their power to keep commoners at the bottom of the social and economical ladder.

Heck, I was pretty sure that this world offered a lot more freedom to commoners compared to my own! Had I been born here, to begin with, how difficult would it have been to reach the same stage of power as I did in my previous life? Hehe, I could already imagine the leisure time I would have. No more would I have to spend entire months in death zones tempering himself for a miserable increase in power.

In the end, I could only attribute their lack of effort to an unnatural feeling of entitlement. Those commoners think that they are entitled to the same level of treatment as the people that come from powerful clans due to having received so much from them over the years, but barely anyone of them tries to climb up the stairs of success, what they fear and envy isn't the inheritance of the Uchiha or the Hyuga, it's the hard work necessary to climb so high.

In the end, I only had one word to describe most of the commoners... shameless!
