Chapter 14

I made my way to nekomata inn. While walking I kept my guard up and my body covered well with my cloak. Now I was in a familia and with the day getting dark, I couldn't help but feel a bit paranoid.

Since I arrived in Orario, I hadn't encountered any of the horrible things that were depicted in the series around this time period in the city. So everything looked like it was out for me.

I haven't encountered any rogue adventures and I wasn't even sure that I could win against one, even the lowest ranked evilus might clap me easy. Arriving at the inn, I met the cat girl that I first saw when I arrived. I walked up to her and asked if I could cancel the rest of my stay.

"Yes nya, but why?? Was our service bad" she said looking a bit downcast and worried.

"No, your service was great but I met a friend who said I should stay at her place" I replied.

"Ah, your girlfriend" she replied teasingly while wiggling her thumb.

"…" I said nothing and just smiled in reply. I left the inn after being refunded 2500 Valis. Her father was a bit pissed that I canceled, so I was charged me for the day. I didn't mind as I had a lot of money and I would be pissed if a customer asked for a refund despite not making any mistakes while servicing them.

I started making my way back when I remembered that I only had a few basic necessities. I also had a lot of money but holding it in hand didn't feel safe but I hoped there was some kind of bank to keep the money.

Making my way to the market, the atmosphere looked bleak. I thought the market would be bustling with activities but everything looked war torn. At a certain point, I thought that I came to the wrong place.

I decided to head back and go to the gate area where merchants and street vendors were, even if they were slightly more expensive. I needed to know my way around town without relying on the map I bought, so I don't accidentally enter the slum area, where crime was at its highest.

After making it to the area I bought some groceries and daily necessities along with dinner which consisted of meat take out dishes and some baked potatoes.

" I am home" I said cheerfully after I arrived at Bahamuts house.

"Welcome back Draco" she said in a smiling face.

I arranged the supplies and handed out dinner which we ate in silence as we hadn't gotten used to living with each other yet.

*The next day*

"Yawn, what is on me??"

Opening my eyes to a new day on my second day as a level 1, I was faced with an odd situation.

Why is Bahamut on me?

Bahamut was on top of Draco despite him putting his large back pack between them last night.

"Ugh, she coiled her tail around mine" I couldn't help but grunt as my tail was sensitive.

I didn't want to wake her so I gently uncurled my tail and slid her back on the bed gently.

'Doesn't seem like she's a morning person' I thought as I went to the bathroom to clean up while calming my raging shenlong.

While cleaning up, I got lost in my thoughts. 'I will probably have to take the guild two week mandatory course for adventurers after I register. And leaving my goddess alone worries me, as she would be open to evilus attacks. I am the only familia member for now and I need to make plans for a bigger house by next year before September. It is currently almost September, meaning my siblings will arrive around or before then. Ahh so many things to do'.

According to the guild rules, every new familia must register after they have their first member to become an official adventurer. There is no need to report my stats and skills, only my level and familia. I would probably get a guild advisor after that.

" I should probably hit the armour shop after registering" I muttered as I finished cleaning up.

I entered the kitchen to make breakfast with the groceries that I bought yesterday. I planned to make steak sandwiches and scrambled eggs with some collard greens. Finishing up with cooking breakfast, I went to wake up my goddess Bahamut.

It took a lot of shaking but I eventually got her up. After which I opened my backpack to get my utensils as in no way was I using chopsticks. We then sat and discussed our plans for the day as we enjoyed our breakfast.

After breakfast we went towards the guild. Bahamuts drew a lot of attention to us as we walked the busy street. Because I wanted to reduce our chances of any negative encounters, we used the main streets leading to the guild.

Arriving at the guild I spotted Shizu the cat girl attendant I met yesterday in one of the booths. I decided to talk with her since she was an acquaintance.

"Hi Shizu, this is my goddess Bahamut and we are here today to register as a familia" I said in a cheerful tone.

"Oh Draco nice to see you again, and a pleasure to meet you goddess Bahamut" she replied formally.

"But if you want to register your familia, go to elf over there. I am working the exchange booth today" she said as I felt a bit embarrassed for not noticing the exchange booth sign. This was because there was no one in line and I thought any guild employee could do it.

"Thank you Shizu and see you sometime later" I said while hiding my embarrassment.

I walked up to the female elf's booth and joined the line with my goddess.

We waited for 45 minutes before it was our turn.

"Hi, how can I help you" the elf said while sending weird glances at me and my goddess.

"I am Draco, and I came here to register my familia with my goddess here Bahamut".

My goddess had attracted attention with her looks, all the way from home to the guild so a lot of people were keeping tabs on us. Well with me wearing a cloak, it served to arouse some curious glances my way so I wasn't that uncomfortable when the attendant looked at me and my goddess weirdly.

"Ahem" I said to snap the elf attendant from glancing at my goddess.

"Ah yes give me a second" she said a she looked around for something. She then dropped a piece of paper and pen in front of me.

"Please fill out this form, while I look for some forms" she said.

The paper had several blank areas to fill in.

"Name, age, parents, Head of familia, Name of familia etc…"

They didn't ask for my level, probably because I was a new adventurer so I would be a level one. The same couldn't be said for a familia from outside Orario.

After filling out the forms my goddess was called to a different booth to fill out some papers too.

We filled out a lot of paper for the next 2 hours before it ended.

"We need to assign you a dungeon advisor. Although your record says that you have fought surface monsters, the dungeon is different" she said to which I nodded in agreement.

Seeing me nodding in agreement she smiled.

"That would be 50 k Valis and after payment I will assign you a dungeon advisor " she said as I was a bit shocked with the price to register a familia. The guild had monopoly to the dungeon drops, well except the black market. So why would they charge this much??.

Deciding not to go down a rabbit hole with theories, I paid the amount.

"Thank you, and here's your receipt. You will get your familia seal within two weeks. Your dungeon advisor name is Rose a werewolf. She's a bit new but she is also experienced so treat her well. You can see her tomorrow as she will be informed of you and have a nice day".

She picked up another paper and stamped on it before bidding me farewell.

"I have a question".

"Just say it I am here to help".

"Do you know of any construction familia around here? I need to know estimates to buy land and build a familia house in the city".

"Hmm.. close to here should be the Gofannon familia. They not very large but they do quality work despite being not too expensive".

"If your not ok with them, you can go to the wooden board over there. A lot of familias will advertise themselves there, so you may find who you are looking for after taking a look. You can also post requests there" she said as I thanked her and walked to my goddess since it looked like she was done too. After that we exited the guild.
