As Paul approached Holly, he felt his head clear. While Melted Cheese was a special kind of person, it did not mean he wanted to become too familiar with her. Not only did she always have to be in charge, but it was almost impossible to lead anything with her around.
Paul was driven by his own ambitions, which were nothing short of grand. He knew that achieving even half of what he wanted would be impossible if he spent too much time with Melted Cheese.
On the other hand, Holly's approach to money was straightforward; she was there to make it. As long as she was earning more money following him than she could elsewhere, Paul didn't have to worry about her making any rash decisions or leaving him in the lurch.
