Missing out

I was alone in the room. It wasn't long before I fell asleep. When I woke again. It seemed pretty late. I was pretty hungry. I saw Prince Nicottis sitting not too far away. He seemed to be reading something in the candlelight. I sneezed and his attention went to me. He seemed to realize that I was awake.

"Darling, you're awake." He said.

"Yes, your Highness." I said.

"Please call me by my name, Alyssa." He said.

"Alright. Um, I'm really hungry. Can you please get me something to eat?" I asked. I was nervous he'd say no.

"Yeah, what do you want to eat?" He said standing up.

"Anything would do. Thank you." I said.

"Alright, I'll be back in a second." He said going away.

I stared out of the open window. "How did I get here?" I asked myself. I used to be a no one. Nothing special. I was about twenty five, I didn't have a lover, a kid nor wealth. The only thing I did was read and that worked out. In this world I was very important unlike before. So I need to be more careful. No more risking my life for strangers

"I am back." Nicottis said come in. He place the tray of food on the bedside table.

"I got you porridge. Can you eat? Do you want me to feed you?" He asked.

"No thanks. I can eat myself. You can go do whatever you were doing before." The words sounded ruder than they did in my head. I hoped Prince Nicottis would not mind it.

"Alright, Alyssa." He said turning away and going back to the desk where he was sitting before.

I took few bites with the spoon. It didn't taste good. I stared at Prince Nicottis. He was reading something in the candlelight. His face was beautiful. The window beside himd shone moonlight. His long white hair shone in the presence of moonlight.. He had two different coloured eyes. One was this beautiful brown colour while the other eye was bright red. His lips were redder than mine and his skin was pale.

I turned to the side and pretended to fall asleep to actually fall asleep. The next morning I woke up feeling extremely tired. The sleep had not refreshed me in fact I felt worse than last night. Everything was painful.

"Ahhh!" I said as I tried to stand up but my legs had turned to mush and I almost fell but Prince Nicottis caught me.

"I didn't think you would be falling for me so soon." Prince Nicottis said winking.

"Can you please stop joking? I am tired. It hurts!" I said complaining.

He pulled me up and helped me sit down on the bed. "Where does it hurt?" He asked.

"Everywhere." I said.

"I'm sorry. I would love to stay but I have to leave now. I can't miss the first day." He said smiling.

"I forgot about that. I can't believe I'm missing the first day." I said whining. He just waved his hand and left. I was left alone. The room was empty for a while but after a while a nurse came in to check on me.

"Can you get me breakfast?" I asked.

"Of course, Miss Rosewood." She said leaving. She came back in with a tray of food she placed it on my lap.

"Can you eat? Your right hand, it seems to be injured badly." She asked.

"No thanks, I'll manage." I said taking the spoon with my left hand and eating.

The rest of the day was boring. It was really awkward when I had to take a bath. About four nurses helped me to take a bath. It was early evening. Kyle came into my room.

"What year are you in?" I asked.

"Second. You're in first I suppose, Alyssa Rosewood. Is that so?" He asked.

"Yes. How do you feel knowing I missed my first day?" I asked.

"Very good. How do you feel?" He asked, smiling at me

"Mentally or physically?" I asked raising a brow.

"Both." He answered.

"Terrible." I answered. He just rolled his eyes in respond.

"Did no one come to visit me?" I asked him. I thought at least Kate, Henry or Demetrius would have come.

"They aren't allowed to come in the restricted parts without Madam Eloise's permission. Let alone come to tower 5.0." He answered.

"They didn't try getting her permission?" I wondered.

"They did but she said no." He said.

"Who do you know?" I asked a question.

"Just guessing." He said.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"I'm Kyle Loisel." He said. At once the name sounded familiar. He was not only the fourth main male character.

"I know your sister." I said smiling.

"I thought I told that brat to not make friends with troublemakers." He said out loud.

"Troublemaker? Me? No way." I said sarcastically. How could he call his saviour (I saved him from the magical beast), a troublemaker?

"Yes, you. You were in the restricted part of the forest where only the few selected are allowed in." He said.

"I was lost." I said.

"Uh huh. I have some work to do. Go to sleep after taking your medicine." He said.

"But it's not even night." I argued but he stared blankly in return. He left the room and I felt lonely once again. I did as he said. I wasn't able to sleep. I kept waking up. My back had this burning sensation all over. I felt terrible. I started slowly crying.

Kyle came in to check in on me. He saw me sobbing. I tried hiding my face as I didn't want him to notice. He did notice but pretended not too. I felt very thankful for him. If it was Henry instead of Kyle, he'd tease the shit out of me.

Thinking of Henry, I realized how much he had grown. Him and Kate had a thing going on between them. So it was safe to say that he was not the main female character's final love interest. I needed to make sure I didn't get in the way of the main characters love relationship.
