Afterwards, we talked for a while. I could tell that she was a kind-hearted, warm person, and it was really enjoyable speaking with her.
I gave her a copy of the book, as I had already purchased two. She was elated to receive it. I also invited her to come to my home. She teleported me back to the village, and I made my way to the central plaza, where we had planned to meet.
As I approached the plaza, I noticed three people standing in front of it, appearing worried. Luna-neesan suddenly ran to me and embraced me, relieved that I was safe.
"We were searching for you. I was really scared," she said, relieved.
"Um, what happened?" I asked hesitantly.
"We had a scare. Death King-sama suddenly appeared here. Everyone was frightened, and some even lost consciousness," Kai-niisan told me.
"But then she vanished. No one knows why. Rumor has it that she spoke with someone, and they both disappeared," Luna-neesan added.
"I see," I replied, feeling uneasy.
"Hey Luna-neesan, hypothetically speaking, Death King isn't a black-haired girl, right? She's not smaller than me and doesn't have deadly souls around her?" I asked, hesitant.
Upon hearing this, the three of them looked at me in shock.
"How do you know that? Oh, right, you read that in a novel, didn't you?" Luna-neesan asked, frightened.
"Um, no. I actually met her on my way here. We had a lengthy conversation, and afterward, we became friends," I explained.
After a brief moment of silence, they were all stunned.
*BAM
"Ow, that hurt," I exclaimed in pain.
Luna-neesan had punched me in the head.
Luna-neesan had punched me in the head.
"Do you have any idea how worried I was? You were casually chatting with Death King-sama while I was frantically searching for you," she raged.
"I'm sorry," I apologized, rubbing my head.
Upon seeing me rubbing my head, she smiled slightly and kissed it.
"I'm just relieved that you're safe. But please don't make us worry like that again," she said.
"Got it," I replied with a smile.
====================
"Serene-chan, will you set the table," Grandma said.
"Sure," I agreed.
We were currently by the lake, which was huge. The environment was calm, and it melted my heart a bit. I felt like I was on a picnic.
I was with Aunt Aubrey, Aunt Jade, Grandma, Kai-niisan, and Olivia, as both of my mothers had to go to work. I wasn't sure why, though.
I was in charge of setting the table, while both of my aunts and grandma were cutting vegetables.
Olivia and Kai-niisan were fishing.
"We're back," I heard Shae-neesan's voice.
It seemed they had returned. I looked over at them, and Tara had a satisfied look on her face.
"Welcome back. What kind of monsters did you guys hunt?" I asked.
"We mostly hunted Titan cow, Rumble bear, and giant goat. We also got some Horned rabbits," Tara answered with a smile.
"Hey, are you guys planning to invite the whole village here? How did you hunt so many monsters?" Grandma objected.
"Ahaha... Sorry, we got carried away," Shae-neesan said with an awkward smile.
"Besides, it's Tara's fault," Sumiko-neesan complained.
"What did you do, Tara?" I asked.
"I'm sorry, my lord. There were all sorts of monsters, so I couldn't hold myself back. I ended up killing most of them," she said.
So, she was the one who killed most of the monsters.
"Sumiko-neesan, I understand that Tara killed most of them. But what did you do?" I asked suspiciously.
"N-nothing. I didn't kill many," she said while avoiding eye contact with me.
She was surely one of the culprits.
"Okay, it can't be helped. Let those monsters out. Also, take one monster out from each category. We only need a small portion. You guys can share the meat among yourselves," Grandma said.
"Also, help us too," Aunt Aubrey said.
"Okay," they nodded.
Tara let a bear-like monster out from her item box. They stored the monsters in their own item boxes.
"Okay, Tara. I will work on this one. You should help me," Aunt Aubrey said.
"Yes," Tara nodded.
After that, they started to work on the bear-like monster. No, this one might be called a rumble bear.
Sumiko-neesan brought out a big Titan cow.
Then everyone started working on them. I watched them dismantle those monsters.
I helped Grandma with the Horned rabbit. Its fur was really soft.
"Sorry, we were late," both of my mothers arrived with Grandpa and Uncle.
"Take a rest for a bit. It will take some time to make the barbecue," Grandma said.
"Oya, it seems Serene-chan is working too," Grandpa said.
"It's my first time, though," I said.
"You did well, even though it was your first time," Grandpa said.
He came closer and patted my head.
After that, Grandma and my aunts began cooking. We patiently waited.
By the way, the nee-sans had brought a large fish, and Luna-neesan was in the process of preparing it. To be honest, the atmosphere was extremely enjoyable. The aromas of the food were making my mouth water. I couldn't wait to taste everything.
"Hey, Aunt Jade. I think this is the perfect atmosphere for you to sing us a song," Sumiko-neesan suggested.
"Oh, I don't know if I'm a good singer. Besides, Rhea-san has a much more beautiful voice than me," Aunt Jade tried to decline.
"Mother will sing a song later, but for now, you should go first. And don't worry, we all know you're good," Sumiko-neesan insisted.
"Well...um...I guess I could sing 'My Breath for You'," Aunt Jade said, her face lighting up with excitement.
I was surprised - it seemed that Sumiko-neesan's offer of a hug and a kiss had been quite effective on Aunt Jade after all.
