After basking in the fresh air of a mountain and it's rich and thick mana, WeiZhe realized that some people were coming toward him from City Of Atmos.
Narrowing his eyes he swept his eyes over the horizon and identified at least thirty-to-forty different magical auras, although none of them were especially powerful compared to him he could sense a dreadful and heavy killing intent from them.
As cautious as he always is, he never took them as weaklings even though they shouldn't be able to threaten him theoretically but as a wise and old scholar he claims himself to be he knows that even the weakest living beings might have trump cards that albeit wouldn't kill him they could seriously injure him.
Waving his left hand he took out his magic wand and cast a aura concealment spell quickly. With a blowing windy sound and metals hitting each other it seemed like all of his magical aura disappeared like it never even existed while at the same time conveniently changing his appearance by having wrinkles on his face.
If someone saw the process they would rub their eyes as a light of disbelief shone in their eyes because they saw WeiZhe had his baby smooth skin age rapidly and turn into a genuine eighty-year ordinary old man plucking rare plants from the mountain as he also changed his white attire into a bit of a ragged grey robe and a basket on his back.
"Maybe it was a bad idea to stretch my mana over the entire city"
While saying so WeiZhe kept his guard up and once in a while had his eyes look at the bottom of the mountain, which is called Bilder Mountain, where currently those thirty-to-forty magical auras stopped dead in their tracks.
At the bottom of Bilder Mountain.
A magical barrier calmed down and revealed a group of human magicians along with a couple of mixed races.
"Huh? It disappeared?"
Confused, one of the mixed raced magicians asked himself under his breath.
Beside him was a young and quite good looking human female with a voluptuous body holding her wand and frowning.
The female human was about to open her mouth and speak but someone else spoke with a mocking tone just as she was about to open her mouth.
"Are you stupid? It didn't disappear. It just went to hiding probably because your smell revealed our position."
The speaker was a human male with a well kept hair and clean white magician's robe.
Frowning a little the mixed race male magician was about to retort but was cut short when a "ding" sound went off.
Everyone simultaneously looked toward the direction of the sound and realized that it came from the tracker among the group.
Looking down at his hands which was holding a piece of delicate equipment which looked brand new the tracker showed first confusion on his after which he showed even more confusion while staring at the device in his hands.
The captain of the group, a human male magician, goes by the name Michel. As Michel looked at the groups tracker, he also frowned as he kept on guessing what could have caused and why such a hugely widespread mana came from this mountain toward the city.
Although Michels parents are powerful and rich magicians and he is also talented in magic he doesn't have much experience outside whilst he just joined the Army and got posted at the City Protection unit which to be honest doesn't give much experience.
Although it's an honorable position and they do deal with some cases of beast that run towards the city walls but those are all weak beasts and even if some strong beasts do come they get annihilated by the powerhouses so Michel himself hasn't gotten any experience in this kind of situation.
And in this case of a magical aura capable of covering the entire city Michel actually is kinda scared after all someone or something capable of covering the entire city is no joke.
Right at this moment the tracker of the team; named Liam looked up and met his gave with the group captain Michel.
"How is it?" Asked Michel after seeing that the confusion was still there; on Liam's face.
"I... I don't know!" Stutteringly answered Liam while his confusion just got a layer deeper.
Frowning Michel was just about to ask another question when someone was faster than him.
"What nonsense are you talking about? Aren't you supposed to be the best Tracker among our age group Liam?"
The one who spoke was precisely the youth who mocked that mixed raced magician before.
"Ross watch you mouth!"
This time that good looking lass with a voluptuous body replied whilst evidently displeased with the mocking tone Ross showed toward Liam and also because of the previous mocking of that mixed race.
Although Ross did mock both of them but for very, very different reasons. Ross mocked Liam because he is jealous of Liam's title as the best Tracker among their age group while also getting extra attention from everyone because of this particular case's need of him.
On the other hand he mocked that mixed race because he is a mixed race. Although Sophia wanted to defend that mixed raced male but she couldn't justify it because there was evident hate and superiority complex between mixed races and purebred humans.
And it's reason was because there was once a time when humans conquered different races from different planes, but as time kept on going some humans bred with those of other races and the by product was mixed races.
They get contempt from purebred humans and also of their other race making them have no place beside creating their own community of mixed races.
"Hmph."
Although Ross wanted to retort back but he couldn't as he remembered who Sophia's parents were so he kept quiet albeit he did snort and turn his head away.
Michel didn't care about such stuff as he believed in power over everything so if there was a argument he would solve it with a comparison of strength.
So he asked Liam again, "What do you mean you don't know? Explain the situation so others can ponder over it, you're not alone on this.", while giving a friendly advice at the same time.
Gathering himself together while showing a grateful smile towards Michel, Liam started explaining, "The situation is like this, the target has disappeared but not completely it's more like it dispersed just like how spilled water on a table gets evenly distributed."
Listening to Liam's explanation everyone frowned and started to ponder exactly what is happening.
"Could it be a big swarm of beast?", asked one of the magicians.
Ross rolled his eyes as he again mocked, "Have you gone nuts? If a swarm of beasts capable of covering the entire city came we wouldn't be sent here, instead war alarms would have been sounded off."
The one who spoke before turned silent as he kept on pondering like everyone else.
At this moment that mixed race who got mocked by Ross spoke, "Perhaps it's not a swarm but a single beast that has dispersed it's magical aura so that we can't track it."
Hearing this Liam's eyes turned bright as if he was struck by epiphany and indeed he did.
"What did you say?", asked Liam enthusiastically to make sure he heard correctly.
Puzzled by Liam's enthusiasm Wyatt replied, "Umm... That a single beast has dispersed is magical aura, i think?"
Not sure even himself if he correctly remembered because Liam's eyes kept on getting brighter so much so that Wyatt started feeling uncomfortable all over his body as his raised in alarm as he figured something out.
'I need to stay away from Liam in the future'
Thinking so Wyatt vowed to himself to stay as far away from Liam as possible in the future lest he becomes a miserable one.
Not knowing that Wyatt had labeled him as a homosexual person because of his epiphany Liam checked his delicate tracking magic device again to make sure and then shifted his gaze toward Michel.
Michel being a simple and straightforward power hungry man didn't think too much of the light in Liam's eyes as he asked, "Did you figure something out?"
"Yes, yes I did!", saying 'yes' twice to affirm his own theory Liam started explaining, "I have read once in a book saying that there existed a spell that could disperse one's own magical aura to the void while also removing any traces of the caster, but..."
"But what?", asked Sophia?
With a wry smile on his face Liam faced Sophia's questioning look and answered, "It's just, that spell was supposedly said to be a failure and not practical as it required too much mental capacity to control one's own mana precisely without any error and the aura that covered the entire city was a ancient bestial aura."
Turning silent from hearing Liam's explanation everyone started to ponder again when Ross spoke what was in his mind, "Could it be a new type of beast that we haven't heard of or a intelligent beast capable of spellcasting?"
Michel knitted his brows tightly as he spoke in denial, "Impossible, all of the magic beast have been identified and described and by chance if a magic beast capable of spellcasting did pop out it would be hunted until it's race was completely decimated."
As everyone heard Michel they turned silent again and started going through possible ideas in their minds.
"Beep, Beep, Beep..."
At this time Michel's communication device vibrated with a 'Beep' sound.
Looking down at his wrist which had the communication device strapped on Michel used his free hand to fiddle with it for a couple of seconds before a light shot out from it.
"Return back, we have gotten orders to not disturb the beast unless it attacks."
Hearing the message and reading it at the same time all the magicians in the group looked at each other in dismay.
"Huh? Why should we return we haven't done sh*t beside talking with each other.", one of the burly looking magicians said a bit grumpily.
"Nothing can be done about it, it's the orders from higher ups, let's go better not be late or else we'll get punished.", said Michel with a hint of disappointment in his eyes whilst quickly concealing it.
While the thirty-to-forty magicians started leaving, WeiZhe at the top of the mountain was speechless as he was eavesdropping on them.
The reason why he was speechless was because they regarded him as a beast an also because that Liam kid was able to tell what he did.
Indeed, WeiZhe did just as Liam had said he used a spell to throw his magical aura with his mana to void.
Although everyone could access the void as long as they had mana to open a void crack and knowledge of how to do it, not everyone spent their time on void spells as it was a difficult spell to comprehend and apply which was also why no one among the group of magicians realized that the void was full of mana and that too at a dangerously choking level.
But even if they realized it, they couldn't absorb it as it was sealed mana, in this way only WeiZhe can have access to that sealed mana anywhere while not radiate any magical aura from his body; truly a great way to sneak into places.
Although he was eavesdropping on the thirty-to-forty magicians conversation he didn't idle around and just eavesdrop on them but he collected many rare plants and herbs from the mountain top into his basket.
'Why?' you may ask. Well he needs a disguise and evidence for his disguise as a regular ordinary old man who collects rare plants and herbs from Bilder Mountain to sell in the City Of Atmos.
'What's the disguise for?' you may ask. The City Of Atmos has strict check on who gets in and who gets out and especially since many important people are visiting at this time so nothing can go wrong.
That's why WeiZhe got a disguise for himself as not that many people actually know him and he doesn't like to explain to too many people neither does he like limelight from unimportant people as he it only brings their jealousy towards him and one of the things WeiZhe hates is trouble which is exactly what jealousy brews.
Albeit he will brag in front of people of equal status or power; sometimes even in front of prodigies to put them down.
Damn how could this be?! Everyone gets vacation from school because of coronavirus while my damn professor gives us distance learning through conference video calls.
