Treasures of the Expedition

"Alice, what you're holding is called an Absolite. It's a special Mega Stone that enables your Absol to undergo Mega Evolution," Aron explained, emphasizing the significance of the stone.

The moment Alice discovered that the Mega Evolution stone was meant for Absol, a wide grin spread across her face. Absol had a special place in her heart as her starter Pokémon and second-strongest companion. While she was aware of Absol's potential to Mega Evolve, obtaining an Absolite had always eluded her. Even though Aron had a vast collection of Mega Evolution stones, this was the very first Absolite they had come across.

Filled with excitement, Alice reached for one of her Pokéballs and released her majestic Absol. The Mega-Evolved Absol was a sight to behold, nearly twice the size of a regular Absol and radiating an aura of power and elegance. The partnership between Alice and her Mega-Absol was a testament to the incredible bond they shared.

I've always been in awe of my grandmother's Pokémon. Even though I was a peak Legendary class trainer in my past life, my admiration for Pokémon never waned. I had an immense love for these creatures, and it still holds true in my new life.

Lance, on the other hand, attempted to pet the Absol but was held back by its imposing aura pressure. I had recently started assisting Lance in his aura training, and he was not yet proficient in handling it. The Absol, however, seemed to notice me and extended its head towards me, allowing me to gently pet it. My deep affinity with most Pokémon, a blessing from Arceus, made such interactions easy. Lance made a grumpy face and returned to rummaging through the pile of treasures.

"It never ceases to amaze me how you can handle my Pokémon. They never let anyone else pet them except for me, and you seem to be the only exception. I have no idea how you do it," Alice remarked, her surprise evident.

"Look what we found for you, Absol. Now you can stop pestering me every time I practice Mega Evolution with the others," Alice said, taking out a shiny stone. The Absol was immediately drawn to the stone, and its eyes sparkled with rare brilliance as it approached. The bond between Absol and Alice was particularly strong, so triggering its Mega Evolution should be relatively straightforward after a few tries.

With Lance busy exploring the treasures, I turned my attention to sorting through the Pokémon eggs. I was searching for ones that might be of my preference or that I could add to my team or offer to Alice. As I went through them, I selected more than a dozen eggs with blue potential, and to my surprise, I found four eggs with indigo potential. Each one had the potential to become an extraordinary addition to our Pokémon lineup.

Among the four eggs with indigo potential, one of them stood out, and not just because of its rare and precious dark indigo potential. As I focused my observation skills on it, I made a startling discovery. Within this egg, there were two distinct life signatures. It was a phenomenon I had only heard of in legends or from rare accounts in the Pokémon world. Such twin Pokémon eggs were an extreme rarity, with a one-in-a-million chance of occurring naturally. Even then, 99 times out of 100, these eggs never hatched successfully, leading to the unfortunate loss of these exceptional Pokémon.

However, with my knowledge of the future, I had an edge. I knew of some exceptional methods to save these Pokémon. Even though they didn't quite reach the benchmark potential to make it onto my team, I couldn't bear to see such high-potential Pokémon go to waste. I decided to make an exception and take it upon myself to raise this unique Pokémon.

The other three eggs with light indigo potential were also intriguing, and I knew they had great potential. I couldn't wait to see how far these Pokémon would grow with their respective trainers and how they would contribute to their journey and our family's legacy.

I was able to confirm the type of Pokémon by using my observation skills, and I was happy with the four indigo potential eggs.

As I observed the eggs earlier, my attention was immediately drawn to the Dreepy egg. Lance came to mind because, just like Alice specialized in Dark Pokémon, he was determined to specialize in Dragon Pokémon, as was the tradition in our family. Lance held a special place in my heart, much like Alice, and I had long made up my mind to support those close to me in reaching new heights they might not have dreamed of. This Dreepy egg would be a valuable addition to the future Dragon team that Lance had been planning. Currently, he only has two Pokémon on his roster, both personally selected for him by me. This new addition, with its unique dual typing, would diversify his team.

"Hey Lance, come over here. Take this egg; it's a Dragon type, just as you've always wanted on your team."

Lance eagerly rushed toward me, discarding the items he had been holding to carefully pick up the Dreepy egg. He knew that when I selected a Pokémon for him, it was always of the highest quality. I was committed to providing him with the best possible start on his journey. There were times when I felt guilty about not being able to provide him with Pokémon of higher potential, similar to how I was forming my own team. However, finding Pokémon or eggs with even higher potential was no easy task, even with my blessings, as it often involved an element of luck. Regardless, I always strived to get him Pokémon with at least Indigo potential, which was considered the benchmark. His current two Pokémon include a Dark Indigo potential Dratini and an Indigo potential Trapinch.

"Hey, Aron, how good is its potential? Is it as good as my Dratini? And what kind of Pokémon is it, by the way?"

Lance's excitement was palpable, and he was eager to learn everything he could about his new Pokémon. In most regular families, the idea of raising even a single Pokémon would be seen as a substantial burden due to the high costs and challenges involved. Raising a Dragon type Pokémon would be an entirely different matter; it was something that most people wouldn't even dare to dream of. But for a scion of the Blackthorn family, the resources needed to raise three or more Dragon types were not a matter of concern.

"Calm down, Lance. It's a Dreepy, a Dragon and Ghost dual type, and as for its potential, it's only slightly lower than your other two Pokémon."

I handed the Dreepy egg to Lance, who was beaming with joy at the prospect of adding a new Pokémon to his team.

"Ha, Aron, why waste such a precious Pokémon on this kid? Your Dratini and Trapinch were already a luxury, and now this You're spoiling him too much. Don't you think he'll ruin these exceptional Pokémon with his naivety?"

Alice couldn't resist teasing Lance when she heard the type and potential of the Pokémon I'd given him. At times, she couldn't help but wish someone had spoiled her with such remarkable Pokémon, perhaps elevating her to an even higher status.

"Come now, Alice; don't tease Lance. And I can guess what you're thinking. But it's not like you have low-potential Pokémon on your team, especially your Tyranitar. She's a marvel, and to this day, I still wonder how you managed to bond with her."

I was well aware of the true prowess of Alice's most formidable companion, Tyranitar. She was among the six Purple potential Pokémon in the Blackthorn family. She was the only Purple potential; the rest were of a lower Light Purple potential. With proper nurturing and ample resources, her Tyranitar could unquestionably break through to the Legendary stage in the future.

"Say, Aron, what about the Poké Egg in your hand? Is it special?"

Alice noticed that I was cradling a Poké Egg as I passed over a dozen or so others to be transferred to her personal vault.

"Ah, yes, there is something special about this egg. I plan to nurture it personally. By the way, Grandma, two of those eggs have Light Indigo potential, and the rest have Blue potential."

I pointed out the two eggs from the dozen I'd passed to Alice, sharing which Pokémon were inside so she could allocate them accordingly. After briefing Alice about the Pokémon eggs, I shifted my attention to the shelves where the Poké Balls and treasures were arranged. The wild Pokémon released from the Poké Balls didn't make a move; they stood still because they felt the protective aura emitted by Absol, who was guarding me. There were fewer wild Pokémon with high potential compared to the number of high-potential eggs, largely because young Pokémon with high potential were often targeted by mature Pokémon in the wild to prevent future powerhouses. In the wilderness, Pokémon were more attuned to bloodlines and better at assessing the potential of others, which influenced their survival rates. Unless young Pokémon received protection from their group or an adult that acted as a deterrent to other wild Pokémon, the chances of a high-potential young Pokémon maturing were as low as one in a hundred.

Even though we had caught a significant number of wild Pokémon, it was surprising that we only found six with blue potential and, even more astonishingly, one Pokémon with light indigo potential.

I selected these seven Pokéballs and handed them to Alice, specifically pointing out the one that contained the Lapras.

"I know that James specializes in raising Water-type Pokémon, so this would be a great addition to his team. It's a Light Indigo potential Lapras. Without him and the rest of the team, we might have lost the entire expedition, so we need to reward them properly. I'm sure James will be thrilled to receive this Pokémon."

Alice couldn't help but smile at my thoughtfulness. While she had proposed the expedition to the family, I was the one who had planned the main exploration destination and the entire strategy.

After spending nearly three hours in the vault, I was more than satisfied with our findings. I had discovered seven Mega Stones for five different Pokémon and three Key Stones. After that, I began organizing the more than a hundred different treasures I had collected from the resource shelf and storing them in my personal storage.

Dear readers and fans,

I hope you're enjoying this fanfiction journey as much as I am. It's been a labor of love, but I'm at a point where I'm considering how best to invest my time. While this story draws inspiration from an existing world, I've been passionate about building upon it, adding my own creative touches, and sharing it with you.

I want to maintain the essence of what fanfiction stands for: a community of like-minded individuals who come together to appreciate creativity. That's why I've decided to introduce a voluntary way for those who can afford it and believe in the value of my work to support me.

I'm in the process of setting up a Patreon account dedicated solely to donations. It's not about making this a profit-driven endeavor but rather a way for those who find value in my writing to show their appreciation and encouragement.

Your support, in whatever form it comes, will help me continue dedicating time and effort to this project. It's entirely voluntary, and your readership alone is already a fantastic reward.
