Chapter 1

Upon waking up, Tim had a strange expression on his face. How exactly did he get here? All he could remember was celebrating yet another quest completed at the adventure guild's tavern.

"Ugh, my head! It feels like someone or something hit me with all of their strength and dragged me here." All he could remember was drinking and eating non stop for an entire three days and three nights because during this last mission, he found an inheritance of a legendary sword master's blade.

With the legendary blade and sword arts left as a legacy for him, Tim was about to finally carve his name in history instead of being a simple mercenary for hire; a true hero and legend! "Wait, what was up with that strange belly dancer that night?"

Thinking more about it as he tried to find his equipment in this dark cavern-like area, Tim was still extremely confused as he continued to try to process his situation. The belly dancer he was thinking of, was incredibly beautiful and continuously smiled in his direction as he continued getting drunker and drunker throughout the night.

Thanks to three candles lit on a nearby table, Tim began to try and leave the cell that he found himself in. He was unsure if it may have been the thieves guild or another organization that did not like adventurers and would scheme against them who had done this.

Opening the cell door after making sure he was not injured, Tim began dressing in some rough around the edges leather armor that did not give him much protection, but was at least slightly better than normal clothes.

Seeing a stairway nearby, Tim tried to sneak up on it. The stairs were covered in spider webs and the wood creaked so loud that he felt he would be caught if anyone was present. Due to no alarms going off and not even a rat screeching by him, Tim knew he was alone in this dark area.

Luckily, although it was clearly dark outside, Tim was able to exit the cave without being detected. And even with not feeling safe since he did not even have a weapon or a shield, he was grateful that at the very least there were no enemies around from his view who he had to go up against for his freedom.

"That sword was definitely what got me into this jam and I should have been more to myself about it instead of announcing it to the entire town. Whoever is the mastermind behind all of this will certainly profit from what they have done to me!" Tim was upset because he was absolutely considered experienced when it came to adventures and battles whether by himself or in a group. However, this did not mean he would be able to overcome whoever stole these goods from him alone.

As he scoped out his surroundings which were extremely desolate, a figure was slowly flying downwards from the sky above him a short distance away. The dark gargoyle-like figure had a nasty and evil smirk on its face as it watched Tim struggle with confusion. It was very clear that this gargoyle-like figure was the one that plotted against Tim.

"Oh poor adventurer! If you didn't remove this sword from that area, I would still have been trapped for even a longer period of time. Please forgive me, due to being trapped for tens of thousands of years in that little formation, I am unable to properly compensate you. But thank you for the weapon that had done this to me, I will be sure to make good use of it!"

Turning around, Tim could not believe his eyes, the creature was hideous but also was clearly a type of demon which has not been seen for many years. As Tim listened to the beast, he couldn't help but grow angry. "You stole all of my possessions leaving me almost as bad as a simple beggar and you expect me to take it sitting down?!"

Tim mustering up all of the strength he could through his body even while being nearly paralyzed by fear had begun to charge towards the creature. Unfortunately, the creature only continued to mock him as it unleashed half a dozen skeletons surrounding Tim, keeping him pressed down on the ground struggling.

"Do not worry little one, I have big plans and you are of course to be thanked for it. It will take time for me to find my captured brothers but in the meantime, I could easily turn this world upside down as I bide my time. And from the looks of it, our reputation was so grand, there are several pockets of supporters I could tap into to make all of this much easier. Thank you adventurer and I hope you can survive through this!"

Without wasting any more time, the creature simply flew away, no longer willing to engage with him as over a dozen more skeletons, this time with proper weapons and even armor, started to rush towards him.

"Wait until I get my hands on you! I will destroy you like the bug you are treating me as! And when I am done with you, your reputation will be completely outclassed by mine!" Tim couldn't help himself as he continued to shout towards the sky even though he knew that the creature was now far gone and had begun its path in conquering the world.

As the skeletons sliced his body, Tim began to black out from the blood loss. But he continuously berated the creature until there was not a single peep from his now dead corpse. The skeletons upon realizing he was dead, simply went into the cavern to await new orders from their master. And on this day, darkness fell onto the world called "Earth" and it was due to this unknown adventurer who simply removed a relic that binded one of the eight kings of hell by a legendary figure of their time.
