Chapter No.6 Kakashri Vibhishana

[Meghnad's POV]

As we settled into our seats, the servants began serving the evening meal. Fragrant dishes adorned the table—fluffy rice flavored with saffron, rich curries simmered to perfection, and an assortment of vegetable dishes that mirrored the vibrant colors of the palace gardens.

Father led us in a brief prayer of gratitude, acknowledging the blessings bestowed upon our family and our kingdom. His deep voice resonated through the hall, a reminder of his wisdom and devotion to our people.

I glanced at Kavya, who stood quietly beside me, "Kavya, Come let's eat together."

"What?! No, Yuvraj (Crown Prince) I am just a servant, it's not proper for me to dine with you and your family. Please, enjoy your meal," Kavya responded humbly, her eyes downcast in deference to her position.

Kavya's response was humble yet firm, reflecting her understanding of their respective positions within the palace hierarchy. She maintained her decorum, mindful of the boundaries that defined their relationship.

"You are more than just a servant, Kavya," I insisted gently, gesturing for her to join us. "You are like family to me. Please, join us for dinner."

"But-"

"Maa (Mother) Look, Kavya is not listening to me properly. She is a valuable member of our household, and I would like her to dine with us," I said, turning to my mother with a pleading look.

Mother regarded Kavya kindly, her expression thoughtful as she considered my request. "Of course, Meghnad. Kavya, please join us. You are always welcome at our table," Mother said warmly, her words carrying the weight of both authority and genuine affection.

Kavya hesitated for a moment, visibly touched by Mother's words. Slowly, she nodded and took her place at the table, her demeanor a mix of gratitude and humility. "Thank you, Your Majesty," she murmured softly, her eyes briefly meeting mine with a small smile.

Throughout it all, Kavya remained attentive, serving with grace and participating in the conversation when prompted. Her presence added a sense of familiarity and camaraderie to the royal meal, bridging the gap between her role as a servant and her place within our extended family.

After dinner, as we prepared to retire for the evening, Mother offered a fond farewell to Kavya. "Thank you for joining us, Kavya. Your presence enriched our meal," She said sincerely, his voice resonating with appreciation.

Kavya bowed respectfully. "Thank you, Your Majesty. It was an honor," she replied, her eyes reflecting genuine gratitude for the acceptance she had received.

I strode confidently towards my chamber after bidding farewell to Kavya, filled with a deep sense of contentment from the evening's warmth and camaraderie. The echoes of laughter and conversation from the dining hall resonated in my mind, a comforting melody that stayed with me as I navigated the familiar corridors of the palace.

Passing by the palace library, I noticed a faint glow emanating from within. Curiosity piqued, I pushed open the heavy oak doors and stepped into the quiet sanctuary of knowledge. Rows upon rows of ancient tomes and scrolls greeted me, their presence a testament to the accumulated wisdom of generations past.

In there was my Kakashri (Uncle) Vibhishana who was going through a collection of scrolls near a large oak table, his brow furrowed in deep concentration. His scholarly demeanor softened upon noticing me, and he smiled warmly.

"Ah, Meghnad, come in," Kakashri Vibhishana greeted me warmly, gesturing for me to join him. "I was just reviewing some historical records on ancient strategies and diplomatic exchanges. It's fascinating how much we can learn from our ancestors' experiences."

I approached the table, intrigued by the scrolls laid out before us. "What are you researching, Kakashri (Uncle)?" I inquired, curious about his scholarly pursuits.

Vibhishana adjusted his spectacles with a gentle smile. "I'm delving into the strategies employed during past conflicts and negotiations between our kingdom and others," he explained, his voice reflecting a blend of scholarly enthusiasm and wisdom. "Understanding history helps us anticipate future challenges and opportunities."

I nodded thoughtfully, appreciating his insight into the importance of historical knowledge. "Do you often come here to study, Kakashri (Uncle)?" I asked, glancing around the serene library filled with ancient wisdom.

"Yes, indeed," Vibhishana replied, his gaze briefly scanning the rows of shelves housing centuries-old texts. "The library holds a wealth of knowledge that enriches our understanding of governance, diplomacy, and the arts."

As we conversed, I couldn't help but admire my Kakashri's dedication to learning and his commitment to serving our kingdom with wisdom and foresight. His scholarly pursuits complemented Father's leadership and Mother's compassion, forming a formidable trio guiding our kingdom's destiny.

"Would you like to join me in deciphering these scrolls, Meghnad?" Vibhishana offered kindly, sensing my interest. "Your insights as the future king would be invaluable."

He just wants to spend time with me, Because how can a three-year-old kid help one of the smartest and most dedicated scholars in Lanka understand anything?

"Of course, Kakashri (Uncle) I would be delighted to join you," I replied eagerly, feeling a sense of pride and curiosity in my Kakashri's scholarly pursuits. Sitting beside him, I marveled at the intricate script and faded illustrations that adorned the ancient scrolls, symbols of knowledge passed down through generations.

Vibhishana guided me through the scrolls with patience and clarity, explaining historical contexts and strategic principles in terms that resonated with my young mind. His teachings transcended mere words, offering me glimpses into the complexities of governance and diplomacy that would shape my future as the Crown Prince of Lanka.

As we delved deeper into the scrolls, time seemed to fade away, leaving only the quiet rhythm of our voices and the rustle of parchment. Each revelation sparked new questions in my mind, fueling a thirst for knowledge that mirrored my Kakashri's own passion for learning.

"You have a keen intellect, Meghnad," Vibhishana remarked with a smile, his eyes reflecting pride in his young pupil. "Your insights into these strategies are quite perceptive."

I beamed with pride at his words, grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a wise mentor. "Thank you, Kakashri," I replied earnestly, eager to absorb more of his teachings.

"Anyway, It's too late go get some sleep, and we have much to do tomorrow." Kakashri Vibhishana closed the remaining books and turned off the library light, indicating it was time to rest. I slowly walked to my chamber, where Kavya was waiting.

"Yuvraj, I was worried about you," Kavya said with a smile, relieved to see me return safely.

"Don't worry, Kavya. I was just with Kakashri Vibhishana in the library," I replied, my voice tinged with excitement from the evening's discoveries.

Kavya nodded understandingly. "I'm glad you had a productive evening, Yuvraj. Now, it's time for you to rest," she said gently, guiding me to his bed.

As I settled under the covers, Kavya tucked me in with care, ensuring I was comfortable. "Goodnight, Yuvraj. Sleep well," she whispered softly, her voice soothing in the quiet of the night.

I smiled up at her, feeling a warmth in my heart. "Goodnight, Kavya," I replied softly, watching as she turned to leave.

But before she could step away, I called out softly, "Wait, Kavya."

She turned back, a gentle concern in her eyes. "Yes, Yuvraj? Is something the matter?"

I hesitated for a moment, unsure how to voice what I felt. "Kavya, would you... would you stay with me for a while? Just until I fall asleep?"

Kavya looked surprised by my request, but she smiled warmly. "Of course, Yuvraj," she replied softly, moving to sit beside me on the edge of the bed.

I scooted over to make room for her, and she sat down beside me, her presence comforting and reassuring. For a while, we sat in silence, the only sound the soft rustling of the night breeze through the open window.

"Yuvraj," Kavya spoke softly after a while, breaking the silence. "You know I will always be here for you, right? To protect you and support you, no matter what."

I nodded, feeling a lump in my throat. "I know, Kavya. And I'm grateful for everything you do for me," I said sincerely, turning to look at her.

She smiled gently, reaching out to brush a strand of hair from my forehead. "You are special, Yuvraj. You have a destiny that shines brightly, and it's my duty to ensure you reach it safely."

I reached out and took her hand in mine, feeling a deep bond between us. "Thank you, Kavya. I don't know what I would do without you," I said softly, squeezing her hand gently.

Kavya's eyes softened with emotion, and she leaned forward to press a kiss on my forehead. "Sleep now, Yuvraj. Tomorrow is a new day," she whispered, her voice filled with tenderness.

I closed my eyes, feeling safe and loved in Kavya's presence. As sleep began to claim me, I held onto her hand tightly, knowing that no matter what challenges lay ahead, Kavya would always be there by my side.
