Chapter 38- Powerful Combination

Xin and Liu Guanyi quickly recovered and fought the Ranker again. They fought him bravely and energetically even though they never got the upper hand in the fight.

Every time they were knocked back and got hit hard, they would recover immediately, jump back, and face the Ranker again.

After around a dozen minutes, they were thoroughly worn down.

Many bruises were covering every part of their bodies and most of them were blue as they felt pain all over their bodies. To Liu Guanyi who had experienced this for uncountable times, it was nothing. However, to Xin who was rarely beaten up to this point, it was a really painful experience.

This was good for him. Hard beating like this would teach him how to deal with the pain and increase his pain resistance. Nobody could just shrug off pain like it was nothing without experiencing it many times unless they had no pain receptors, that was.

Liu Guanyi got up and dusted off his clothes. After a while, Xin also recovered and followed suit. It had been three years since they started training with the two Rankers.

This was the last day of the training from what they had agreed. Hence, Locke wanted to test their results after training for three years straight.

After training with the Ranker for a long time, they had become quite familiar with him. He was someone who always did things in the most efficient way possible.

An incredible trait that probably made him able to become a powerful Ranker even with his lacking talent.

When he trained them, he never held back but also didn't push them more than what they could endure so they could improve as fast as possible without any lasting injuries. That was why Locke hit them hard only holding himself back from breaking their bones.

Liu Guanyi exhaled a long breath and turned toward Xin. "Well, it was enough for testing our abilities. Let's test that technique."

Hearing him spoke about that, Xin nodded and answered excitedly. "Yea, let's do it. After all, we have been training for three years just for this."

Xin had changed for the better. Although he wasn't as talented as Liu Guanyi and Adori Zahard, he had his own role and things he could contribute.

Just as Liu Guanyi said, even a small, insignificant person had their own role and purpose in the grand scheme of things. For example, a king couldn't be called a king if he had no subjects.

He only needed to see what he could do. And as a scout, his job was to help the fisherman, a.k.a Liu Guanyi in the battle and help to collect information outside the battle.

They looked at each other and decided the strategy with just eye contact. They had developed quite the teamwork after all these years.

After a moment, they attacked the Ranker again. However, it wasn't Liu Guanyi that stood in the frontline this time.

Xin rushed ahead to hold down the Ranker, trying to create a chance for Liu Guanyi. He fought nimbly using the needles and four bangs as he constantly attacked him.

He always maintained a safe distance after attacking to prevent being counter-attacked and quickly overwhelmed by the Ranker. However, this meant that Xin couldn't truly occupy the Ranker.

As Xin was slowly overwhelmed without being able to create any gaps in the Ranker's defense, Liu Guanyi changed the plan and joined the fray, helping in attacking the ranker as he defended Xin from any attacks that could potentially incapacitate him.

After a few rounds, they slowly started to lose their ground just like before, the Ranker was just too experienced and strong for them.

Seeing them making no progress, Liu Guanyi decided to take a drastic measure.

To break Locke's momentum and make an opportunity, Liu Guanyi decided to take a risk and let himself receive a punch directly on his head.

However, Liu Guanyi was unfazed by the hit.

Martial Art: Whirlwind Kick!

His legs immediately became harder as he twirled his leg and body to disperse the energy to prevent himself from being pushed away, and kicked back the Ranker's leg hard, disorienting him for a moment!

"Now!" He shouted as he created four small balls that merged into a single, much bigger bluish ball.

Xin reacted quickly as he threw his needle at the Ranker's head and created four bangs as well. However, instead of shooting them at the Ranker, Xin fired them off toward the big shinsu ball that Liu Guanyi had created.

Surprisingly, the four bangs didn't destroy and clash with the big shinsu ball and instead, calmly settled within it as Xin controlled them expertly.

Shinsu Control Amplification Style: Great Mass!

The four bangs that Xin created dissolved and merged with the Shinsu ball as it swirled and absorbed some Shinsu from the environment, they become a much bigger single ball than what both of them were capable of creating!

This was Amplification Shinsu Control Style!

Combining and stacking many bangs together and with the shinsu in the area to significantly maximize the destructive power of the users' shinsu.

Of course, the user had to control the bangs expertly for them to not explode when they were combined with the bangs from another user.

Unfortunately, there was a big disadvantage of using this technique. It would make the user hard to attack with accuracy and precision especially at a distance since shinsu attacks were normally a long-ranged type of attack.

However, what if the user could disregard the disadvantage?

This was basically a godly skill since they could stack their shinsu together as much as possible to increase the lethality!

It would make them able to cross the gap against higher-ranked and powerful enemies, especially if it used at close range!

What was the most important aspect that made people qualify as regulars?

It was shinsu resistance!

The higher regulars went to the higher floors, the higher the shinsu pressure from the environment, and thus, the higher their shinsu resistance would become.

This was the reason why even without their superior experience and skills, Rankers were invincible to regulars, even A-ranked regulars.

No matter how many times they attacked them, their shinsu attacks were ineffective due to their strong shinsu resistance.

However, with the Amplification Shinsu Control Style, this gap could be shortened, or even… surpassed!

Liu Guanyi didn't fire off an offensive shinsu attack with the amplified shinsu ball. Instead, he willed it to disperse and cover his right hand, and swirl around it.

Martial Style: Bone Piercing Fingers!

His right hand's fingers were straightened like a spear as the thick shinsu layers gathered on their tips as it rotated rapidly to form a blue, drill-like extension on top of his fingers .

Seeing this, the Ranker grinned in anticipation as he blocked the needle sent at his face. 'So you really did it, huh? Let's see how much you can do with this technique!'

Using the opportunity, Liu Guanyi stepped forward and stabbed his hand toward the Ranker's eyes as he quickly blocked it with his strong arms.

Shinsu Control Style: Blue Rhinoceros Horn Drill!

A shredding booming sound was created the moment Liu Guanyi's fingers came in contact and struck the Ranker's arms as blood sprayed out wildly in the air!
