Reaching Out

A boy left all alone in the world after being abandoned by his mother in a poor clan that treated him harshly because he started showing signs of being different from other kids and the people around him. With him being ostracized more and more he became less and less of the cheerful young kid he use to be until eventually turning discreet and mute around others in hopes that they would stop being scared of him. Though that plan never worked out for him and, in the end he was left to strive on his own as best as he could in the environment he was left in. He explored the towns library and any books he could find in his Clan even if they were useless. Years on years of doing such things eventually led him into stumbling across a book that would help push him towards the thing he wanted the most. "The Basic Guide To The Astral Path" This book may not of been special to anyone in the long run but, it was to him because, it was his new beginning. With this new path available to him would he be able to push through all the obstacles and hardships waiting for him or in the end will he stumble and fall? Or will people be there to catch him if he does once again?

Scary?

Standing in front of him once again was the lizard that had ran away earlier this morning but was once again in front of him. He was once again stopped by the lizard as it stood a few meters away from him but he didn't attempt to make a sound or ask it a question again, he just silently watched it while regaining his energy. This was the second time today this lizard had shown up in front of him, this time around though he was weakened and even if he didn't think the lizard had any strength to over power him he didn't want to take risks with other creatures coming at him or by some miracle the lizard actually being able to injure him further.

So he chose to wait and see what would happen.

Both continued to stare at one another without moving but this time around, something was different. If before he felt like the lizard was examining him this time around he felt like it was less on guard with him and slightly less alert with him but that could also be his imagination to but it was best if he trusted what he saw and felt then to doubt it.

After 10 minutes of staring something finally changed this time around and it wasn't the lizard making fun of him again. The lizard slowly started to inch closer to him. But while it inched closer to him this time it seemed like it put its full guard up now and was slowly creeping little by little nearer to him.

10 centimeters.....

20.....

30....

40...

Centimeter by centimeter it slowly filled the gap until it stood about 2 meters from him from its original 10 meter starting point. The whole time it kept getting closer to him even he himself couldn't help but be slightly put on guard by it, but for the most part he acted relatively normal seeing as how it probably couldn't harm him anyway so he just let the lizard do what it wanted. But when the lizard was finally in front of him again standing only two meters away that's when he finally broke his own silence.

"Hello."

His voice echoed throughout the lonely dimming forest where it was only him being stared at by a lizard. After he finally said something it seemed to break the lizard out of its staring and finally it looked up straight at him once again.

Seeing it look up at him as if waiting for him he instinctively started to raise his hand to wave at it but when the lizard noticed his action it quickly turned around once again and scurried off to wherever it came from again but this time it left no parting body remarks and bolted.

"Hmmm... did I perhaps scare it?"

He knew he could be seen as quite off putting or scary to others but this time around he tried his best to appear less oppressive but maybe that wasn't enough against a small creature like that or perhaps it was afraid of what he would do to it though he had no idea what it thought or what made it panic so much, so for the most part he just let it slide and shook it off continuing his walk back to his home once again.

The lizard he had encountered twice today was definitely something weird to him. If it was just a one off thing or if he could sense any Astral Energy coming from it then maybe he could explain it but with the way it was playing out he didn't really understand too much. Though it probably wouldn't hurt him really and even if he didn't exactly want to get along with it that didn't mean he didn't want to try and be friends with it. With it running away twice now though he wasn't going to deny that it didn't feel good in fact it was almost upsetting a little bit.

"Always next time I guess."

As it was getting late it was getting darker once again in the forest but that only served to brighten the colours of the forest and make it appear more vibrant with each passing moment that it got darker and darker. Thankfully his eyesight wasn't bad in the dark so when the colours did get blocked or weren't in certain areas he could still see though and for the most part he recovered his stamina but not his energy but he could still make his pace quicker than it was before.

His plan when he got back was to take all the meat he collected today and test out different things that he'd thought of to hopefully find out more about his Devouring ability that he had. He then wanted to absorb more Astral Energy when he got back to find out the changes he had received from this days hard work especially that last fight. He was almost positive that the fight against the Fire Charger brought him the most benefits and experience compared to the rest of the day.

Plus he hoped the meat he obtained would give him his biggest surprise as well. He may of almost died while killing that Fire Charger because of his overconfidence and failure with his sneak attack but it also gave him the best results even if he got lucky beating it.

He didn't plan for it to go like that but it was also a good experience for him that not everything would go the way he planned or hoped just like with the wolf sneak attack but it did also let him get use to the feeling of risking his life for something and the sense of accomplishment he got afterwards. Of course he wouldn't of done such things though if it didn't benefit the goal he was chasing after. Only a crazy person would always be willing to throw themselves in such situations and even today's wasn't that high of a risk. Which is why he even tried it in the first place.

Finally spotting the exit of the forest after some time of walking he quickly sprinted his way back to his home to get the meat ready and testable.

"What surprises will I receive this time I wonder?"

with a slight smile on his face he finally arrived back at his tree area and got to work.

I was creating someone's looks recently and then it dawned on me that i didn't do hers or the Protag's skin colour. Realizing that kinda shocked me because it was such a simple and easy thing to do but i missed it. So i'll be adding that later to the previous chapter but to save all of you time and effort now i'll say it here.

He's Pale white.

Also Double today.

Enjoy

Thanks for reading...
