ADOLF WILL

I had heard this story from the captain of First Division Knights when we were given a demon subjugation mission together. I had asked him if he knew anything about the previous heroes with the intention to learn something about my existence in that world. But seeing the reaction on his face I knew it wasn't a pleasant memory.

" It's fine if you don't want to talk about it. I am not forcing you. " I exclaimed with a calming tone.

" No it's fine, it is necessary you know about that incident so that you wouldn't choose the path that he chose. "

" He? You mean the previous hero right? "

" Let me tell you about the incident that took place during the previous demonic war which caused the rise of hatred of nobility towards the heroes. "

That whole night I sat there without budging, listening to the entire story of the previous hero. I was shocked " Is that something a hero should have done? " I questioned myself.

According to the Captain, The previous summoning ritual had summoned a group of 5 members which consisted of three boys and two girls. They were given different roles and powers by the Holy Grail which was the National treasure.

I didn't know much about the Holy Grail because it wasn't something I had to be concerned with.

Among the heroes, the strongest one was Adolf Will who was designated as the Sword Hero and his elemental power was fire. The others had their own specialities as well - The Bow Hero, Spear Hero, The Healer and The Mage.

They brought great success to the kingdom and the world by defeating 4 out of the 5 powerful demon generals. But on their conquest of defeating the last general they became careless because of their overconfidence which resulted in the death of all heroes except the Sword Hero.

This broke the Hero's heart and his confidence was shattered. He returned to the kingdom and was grandly welcomed by the people. But then his mind had become corrupted by the demonic energy as he had lost his will to fight during the previous battle.

He was rewarded with large amount of riches but he wasn't satisfied with that, he demanded something that no one ever expected of him. He requested to marry Princess Isabella who already had a fiance. The king politely refused but this angered Adolf. That night he broke into Princess Isabella's room and asked her if she would agree to marry him but she refused. On hearing this, Adolf took out his sword and mercilessly sliced her neck.

He did not know that there was a security alarm installed there which was controlled with magic. As soon as the princess stopped breathing, the alarm was activated. Adolf had no escape route, so when the soldiers arrived he went on a rampage but fortunately with the help of the Head Magician, they captured him.

The next day it was decided that he would be given a public execution for all his crimes. His previous accomplishments were of no use then because he had killed the beloved princess of people. That was how the story of previous heroes came to an end.

After listening to all this, my inner self had lots of doubts but I ignored them and went ahead to complete my mission.

[PRESENT] IN CELESTIAL KINGDOM :

Priestess Diana suggested that the King should send Crown Prince Vern to the Holy Land to speak with the Archbishop Edward about the matter related to the summoning ritual and get his views on the matter.

The idea was accepted because if the King had the approval of both the High Priestess and the Archbishop then the nobles would be forced to agree to the proposal.

He sent the message to the crown prince mentioning the details of his travel and asked him to leave as soon as he could.
