Chapter 24: Together for this Moment

My pulse continues to pound in my ear as I grip tightly to Eileen’s hand. She leads me up a wide set of stairs in her overly expensive home before turning down a hallway on our left. I can feel the excitement radiating off her as we approach a door up ahead. That same energy courses through me as well, just slightly clouded by a pinch of apprehension.

She pushes open the door, revealing a dark but cozy bedroom. Maroon walls give an intimate and quiet feel to the space. Long black curtains hang from a window on the furthest wall. Two dressers and a hanging mirror rest beside the door of a closet. Small paintings and antique trinkets fill the space around them, giving a touch of cluttered character that feels entirely Eileen.

On the opposite wall rests a king-sized bed with tall black bed posts and a sheer canopy that drapes around the outside. The whole thing looks like something straight out of a Shakespearean play, but somehow more elegant.
