Mana ceremony

I woke up before my parents, to day was my mana ceremony, i lashed my tail back and forth at the thought. What is going to be the mana ceremony? There's gonna be a test? Nobody wanted to tell me, even Glyn said nothing, i was starting to get anxious lashing my tail harder, until i hit my mother's face waking her up, i shrunk when her eyes shot open.

Synn:"Sorry, just a little nervous.".

She opened her mouth wanting to say something before closing them quickly, she stood up and looked down on me, her face was blank, i felt a shiver run down my spine as scenes of my past life flashed through my eyes, she shook my dad waking him up, his eyes opened and moved to me, he stood up and looked at me, his face blank as well, something is wrong, i frowned as he picked me up and put me on his back, we got out of the room, unlike the others days everyone was already awake with breakfast at the table, the same blank face on everyone, my frown deepened, what is going on? My dad put me on the table to my mom's side, she put a piece of bread on front of me, i looked at her and still with that same face, i start munching the bread while looking at everyone face hoping to see the slightest change but nothing.

Synn:"Hmm, about my ceremony...." I tried to talk to them but yet no response.

'Dad':"Let's go." After everyone finished their breakfast he spoke.

Synn:"To where?" I already knew that was to my ceremony, but i still tried and yet another failure.

We got out and went to the academy, along the way i tried to talk a few more times and again no response, we entered and there was no one in, not a single soul.

Synn:"Where's everyone?" I tried one more time but still no answer.

We walked through the academy, the eerie silence was broken everytime we took a step as we made our way to a giant doble door at the end of the last corridor, My dad put me on the ground as he and everyone except Tay turned to another door, Tay pointed at the doble door.

Tay:"Walk." His tone was cold and expressionless.

I did as i was told, he opened the door and another corridor appeared, i kept walking and glancing back at him to see if he changed but again nothing, we walked for a few minutes then another doble door at the end of the corridor, Tay opened then and light blinded me for a second, it was an arena like a coliseum, it had walls problably for protection around it and thousands dragons at the top of the walls were watching me carefully, i walked to the middle of the arena and their gazes followed me, I stepped on something on the ground, i backed away and looked at it, it was an green scale the size of my hand.

Synn:"Tay, what is happeni-" I was turned to him only to see him rushing toward me from the entrance, i stepped back out of instinct and stepped on the tip of the scale, the tip pierced my feet and i fell by the sudden pain, Tay's claw passed above me as soon as i fell, i looked at him and the same blank face.

Synn:"What?" Confusion and fear writed in my face.

Tay:"You dodged?" He drawed back his arm preparing for another attack, i crawled back in the last second as his claw dug in the ground.

Synn:"Why are you doing this?" Now fear took over my face as i crawled away from him.

Tay:"You haven't figured it out yet?" He missed another attack and chased me slowly "This, isn't a mana ceremony." He missed another attack but this time he whipped me with his tail launching me a few meters away, all the air was driven out of me as i landed again in the middle of the arena "This is a public execution." He smirked and walked toward me.

I couldn't get up from that last attack, i just lay there on the ground catching my breath, Tay stopped in front of me.

Synn:"why?" Just speaking hurt, but i ignored the pain.

Tay:"Why? You ask this even after all you have done? You nearly killed us and now you act like that was none of your doing?" I looked up on him, now he haven't a blank expression, disgust was spread in his face "Did you think that we would forgive you?" Tears began to fall as he continued "You must have mutated those drakes to destroy our city. A newborn with mana? There's no such a thing, maybe you are a dragon from another city, maybe you're not even a dragon." He leaned his head closer to mine "Maybe you are a demon, because i'm sure you're not my brother.".

That hit me harder than that tail whip, tears came down like a river. What did i do wrong this time? Again, it's the second time this happen again, am i really that bad? I stood there not making a sound, not moving a muscle, not even breathing, my tears hitting the ground was the only sound i could hear. I did this again? The sound of my tears became more like shattering glass when they hit the ground. They almost died because of me, i almost killed them. I covered myself with my wings slowly as the air became cold. There's no excuse for this. My wings felt weird while my entire body was being covered by my wings. Why would they be fine after that? Why did i think that everything would be ok? That everyone would forget it. I start to shiver as the temperature went down quickly, someone yelled but i was so deep in thought that i couldn't hear. What i did was unforgivable. Everything they were doing to me i deserve. He's right

Synn:"I'm really a demon." I whispered to myself as a cracking sound echoed from everywhere.
