Chapter 138

I was beyond relieved we'd reached a stop. Traveling with Miur was nice and all--scratch that, it was like being married to someone you weren't in love with or could have any 'fun' with. Righteous and good and helpful as he was, he was so not my type, and I'd dare anyone to not get tired of their traveling partner on a month long trip where you avoided people like the plague. We only stopped by towns when our supplies ran low, and even then Miur went in since his looks didn't stand out nearly as much as mine. Company aside, I was also tired of traveling. Riding a horse all day never got comfortable, Nehcor miracle of fine weather didn't stop me from missing a roof and a bed, and damnit if I didn't just want to have a warm bath without someone nearby. Soap. Water. Bed. Blankets that didn't smell like horse. Fresh food, not travel food (which was often hard bread and jerky of the meat and fruit kind).

And people. Oh heavens, actual people!
