In his defense, he only blacked out for a few seconds, unlike me who, when I had been exhausted, blacked out for minutes to days at a time.
If I had meant to make myself feel better with that sentence, I failed.
He was even able to stand up with a bit of help from me too, though his palor brought out the dark circles under his eyes even more.

"Usually you don't spend an entire night making IVs for people before," I said, giving him the 'you're stupid' look I felt like Gus and Milly were always giving to me.
He just nodded, looking more than a little embarrassed that I had slung his arm over my shoulders.

"If you let me help you back to the manor, I can use it as an excuse to check on Gus and take a bath. Ugh, Lordie, I want a bath. So. Bad."
He chortled, albeit weakly. "Lillian, you don't need an excuse to do that."
