Chapter 10 - Liberation

Bob, Dave and some other man walked over to the other side of the island. Bob learned the other man's name, it was John.

John had a scar under his left eye. He had other battle scars on his body. As the three of them walked over to the other side of the island, he started telling stories of his past glory days. Although he was not a pirate he used to be a marine. Just a lowly cadet, but due to his temper and recklessness he was kicked out of the marines.

He said he would have helped Bob fight against the Greybeard pirates, but he didn't have his weapon with him. To repay Bob for freeing them, he decided to travel along with him to defeat the bandits.

Bob just listened to him talk.

It wasn't until John showed off his arm that Bob drifted off into wonderland. Tattoos and piercings looked cool in the One Piece world.

Take Trafalgar D. Water Law for instance, he had a lot of tattoos and they looked amazing.

Bob just had that tattoo on his shoulder, but he could use more.

As John kept talking about different things, Bob kept imagining himself with different tattoos all over his body.

If Bob ever became a pirate, one person he'd try to recruit was Law. He's such an amazing character, and his devil fruit was powerful.

After walking for who knew how long, the three of them finally arrived to the other side of the island.

Bob took in the view and he had to saw things were much different here. They seemed to be a bit more advanced.

No one seemed exactly depressed from what Bob could tell.

He started to wonder if these so called bandits were even bandits.

"I thought you said this side is ruled by the bandits. Why is everyone so cheerful?"

Bob asked as he looked at Dave.

Dave could not answer Bob, he didn't have an answer. The last time he was over on this side it really was ruled by Bandits, and the people who lived here wasn't much better off than the pirate side.

He really started wondering what was going on.

"I honestly have no clue. Let me ask."

Dave said as he walked up to on of the townsfolk.

"Hey, what happened to the Bandit lord Olf?"

The townsman looked at Dave.

"You didn't hear? He's been slain. Where have you been living, under a rock? He's been dead for a year now."

"What!? Who killed him?"

"Not sure if you know, but Jessi had a kid, he was born a mute. Who knew after the bandits killed his mother, he'd go and get revenge. That kid shot Olf dead."

"Shot em dead you say? Hows that even possible, Olf has bandits guarding him day and night."

The townsman grinned as he looked at Dave.

"Let me tell you something cool. The kid ate a devil fruit, lets him blend in with his surroundings. He's like a total ghost, if he doesn't want to be found, you won't find him. He used his powers to sneak up on Olf and shot him right in the head. Since then, he's been taking down the other bandits one by one. Eventually causing them to flee into the mountains."

"Dang! Why didn't the kid go to the other side and take out Greybeard?"

The townsman shrugged his shoulders.

"Who knows why. Maybe because Greybeard didn't kill his mother. Can't really ask him due to him being a mute."

"Well there's no need for that anymore. Greybeard's dead now."

This time it was the townsman turn to be shocked. He knew how strong Greybeard was, and he had devil fruit powers.

"Who the hell killed him?"

Dave pointed to Bob.

"He did. With ease too! Never seen someone as strong as him before."

The townsman looked Bob up and down. Bob didn't seem too special, just looked like a lowly pirate.

"I see, he has a devil fruit too?"

Dave looked at Bob.

"You have devil fruit powers?"

"No…"

Dave looked back at the townsman.

"There's your answer then."

"Seems that the island is liberated from their torment then. You have your Bob and we have our mute. Don't think anyone will be trying to take over now."

Dave laughed.

"Yeah, that's for sure."

As the townsman and Dave talked to each other, Bob looked at John.

"You know who this Jessi and mute are?"

John nodded.

"Jessi was a farmer, she was very beautiful though. Her husband died ten years ago and she's been living alone with her son. I can't remember his name, but all I do remember is he's a mute. He never spoke no matter what, he couldn't. But given his nature I assumed the kid would never harm a fly."

"Having someone close to you die changes a person. How old is he?"

John tapped his finger on his chin as he thought about it.

"I'd say around 16 or 17 now."

"Not bad. I'd like to meet this kid."

"What for?"

"No specific reason. I just want to see something."

Bob couldn't say he wanted to see if he was one of the pirates that would appear in the future. But then again, a person like that never appeared in the world of One Piece.

"Hey, do you mind me asking if I can meet the kid?"

Bob asked the townsman.

"I don't really care, but just be careful what you say. We're thankful to him, but its hard to communicate with him. We fear if we say something wrong, he'll kill us in our sleep."

"I think i'll be fine. Where is he?"

"He should be at home. He barely leaves his house."

"Thanks!"

Bob said as he started walking away. It wasn't until he took five steps that he realizes a fatal error in his plan. He turned back around and asked another question.

"Where does he stay exactly?"

"Brown house on top of the hill. You can't miss it, there are beautiful flowers planted in front of the house."

"Alright!"

"Wait for me Bob."

Dave said as he excused himself from conversing with the townsman.
