Chapter Two

The first thing Lu Xi noticed when he slowly opened his eyes, was the dizzy and nauseous feeling. He tried to move his head but felt a sharp pain in his neck. It felt like knives were stabbed in his neck.

Lu Xi was surprised and wondered what happened to the original owner. He stopped moving his head immediately and looked around the room with his eyes.

The room was a typical hospital room, except it was bigger; there was a large floor-to-ceiling window on the right of the room, and a black sofa under the window. There was a matching chair by the bed, a vase of flowers on a white table next to the sofa and a flat-screen tv to the right of the door.

Lu Xi looked out the window and he could see the sky, with clouds drifting around. He could also see the skyscrapers and he felt his heart pounding quickly as tears prickled in his eyes. He was going to see him again; his husband; and he would do anything to make sure this mission was completed.

"I'm ready to receive my mission."

*We're linked mentally so there is no reason to speak out loud.*

*Your client in this mission world is Li Shan, and he wants you to protect his daughter Li Yining.*

Lu Xi was surprised, he assumed the clients would be the victims themselves.

"Why is Li Shan the client? I assumed the client would be Li Yining."

*The clients always vary, there is no set requirement for a soul to be a client. Any soul that refuses to move on is accepted.*

"I see, I'm ready to receive the plot."

This plotline was very simple. It was the story of a CEO helping himself to his sister's crush and her entire inheritance before living happily ever after. This was a messy, abusive story.

The client in this mission world is Li Shan. He wants his daughter Li Yining protected. Li Yining is an eighteen-year-old girl and the princess of the Li group. She was pampered from a young age by her parents. She was the only daughter of Li Shan and Fang Yashi. Li Shan cherished his daughter very much and loved her.

He had hoped to have a second child, but unfortunately, after giving birth to Li Yining, his wife Fang Yashi was in poor health and he didn't wish to risk her health with another child. He and his wife decided they would hire a Ceo to take care of the company to make money for their daughter so that she wouldn't be burdened with learning business and taking care of a big company.

However, Li Shan was worried that the company might be stolen from his daughter after he and his wife were no longer around so he decided to adopt a boy to help manage the company for his daughter. His wife Fang Yashi was worried that the adopted child would instead discard their daughter as soon as he had control of the company and was against it, but Li Shan also refused to step back and they had a cold war. Li Yining, who was seven at that time, said she wanted a big brother and convinced her mother, so her mother reluctantly agreed to the adoption.

They adopted a fifteen-year-old boy from an orphanage and named him Li Chen. This is the male lead of the mission world. Li Chen learned business from his adopted father Li Shan, and at the age of seventeen entered the company. Li Shan was very happy with adopting Li Chen; he was a young genius and Li Shan felt that he could protect his daughter. Fang Yashi on the other hand, thought that Li Chen was a wolf in sheep's clothing, she didn't trust him; she always felt that her husband was calculated by him and she made it very clear she didn't like him.

When Li Yining was fourteen years old, her parents had a car accident. Her father died at the scene, but her mother survived. However, her mother fell into a coma and became a vegetable. Her world fell apart in just one night, and she was heartbroken. On her 17th birthday, she went to visit her father's grave and cried her eyes out. While there, she fainted and was taken to the hospital by Luo HenSheng.

He waited for her to wake up and paid her bills, made sure she was okay, and left. Li Yining fell in love with him and his kindness. She found out he had been attending her high school and was sponsored by someone to attend her high school. She was very excited after that and decided to ask her brother to hire Luo HenSheng to tutor her to get closer to him.

He refused at first and said that Luo HenSheng was a rat from the gutter, but she pestered him and Li Chen eventually agreed. He met Luo HenSheng, and he still thought he was a beggar off the street and he told him so on their first meeting, then Luo HenSheng pretended to be strong and challenged him with "If you think so highly of yourself then go find yourself another tutor". Then Li Chen was, of course, infuriated but also thought he was interesting and left.

Then we have months of I insult you, you threaten me, and then comes the night of Li Yining's 18th birthday. She was excited because Luo HenSheng promised to be there and she planned to confess to him under the cherry tree in the backyard.

Li Chen overheard this and was shocked and realized that he loved Luo HenSheng so he invited him to a private club but Luo HenSheng declined the invitation. Li Chen threatened to tell Li Yining that he seduced Li Chen and Luo HenSheng had no choice but to show up. They chatted for a while and then Li Chen was slipped a drug so the innocent Luo HenSheng (yeah right) bit his lip, cried a few tears, and agreed to be the cure for the drug and rolled in bed with him.

The next morning Luo HenSheng called Li Chen a beast, and ran off. Then he showed back up at the party and pretended nothing happened. Li Yining dragged him under the cherry tree and told him she loved him. Before Luo HenSheng could respond, Li Yining showed up and told Li Yining to behave and that someone of her noble birth couldn't settle for a lowly beggar like Luo HenSheng.

Li Yining argued with him and said, "Love has nothing to do with wealth and standing, if you love someone, you should love them regardless of their identity", but Li Chen told her to act like a lady and go upstairs to her room, that she had no right to decide who to love anyway, and she shouldn't forget her status.

Li Yining ran through the crowd that was surrounding them in tears of humiliation and sadness. She cried upstairs before Bai Qin, the original owner, brought her a bowl of ice cream to cheer her up. He then told her she should stop chasing after Luo HenSheng, since Luo HenSheng had already rolled in bed with her brother. She was shocked, refusing to believe it until she saw a picture of them entering a room while kissing and pulling at each other's clothes. She was sad and felt betrayed, so she decided to get back at Luo HenSheng at school.

She printed out copies of the picture. When Monday came, she marched up to him and called him a gold-digging slut while throwing the pictures at him. Quickly news spread and everyone knew he slept with his employer, so his reputation was ruined and he lost all his tutoring jobs and was insulted by everyone.

Luo HenSheng managed to find out who took the picture and blamed Bai Qin for everything. He decided to go to the Li company and jump off the building. Of course, Li Chen found out about it and rushed to rescue him, finally realizing that he truly loved Luo HenSheng and not only his body. He saved him; they kissed and he told Li Chen about all the horrible things the original owner and Li Yining did to him so Li Chen promised to get revenge for him.

Luo HenSheng told him that Li Yining did all those things because of the original owner's words, so he should only punish Bai Qin.

The original owner had a car accident while driving and died when his car drove over a cliff.

Li Yining had a mental breakdown when she found out about Bai Qin's death and when Luo HenSheng told her why; she snapped and attacked him. Li Chen protected him from her and publicly denounced her. Li Yining was even more pissed off, so she decided to remove Li Chen from the position of Ceo from her family's company but failed. She was sent abroad by Li Chen and finally committed suicide.

Lu Xi was disgusted by the time he finished receiving the plot and wondered what brain-dead person would write such garbage and what was wrong with this world setting. This was clearly a 21st-century world setting and yet, such messy and disgusting events were taking place.

How was it that these two protagonists were able to play everyone around them as fools?

Being the biggest cannon fodder in this weird love triangle was even worse, what horrible thing had the original owner done to deserve this?
