Chapter 3 - Hunting

3 months after the terrifying training experience, Tian Longmeng was allowed to hunt once again. This time he was allowed to not only hunt grey wolves but also other animals like fishes, bears, and cattle.

However, Tian Longmeng was not allowed to hunt any bird or winged creatures because they may be a bit too hard for him at this level. Tian Longmeng himself was not very enthusiastic about combating aerodynamic creatures. After all, he had a couple of problems facing just grey wolves that were on the ground, much fewer animals that can come off the ground.

Tian Longmeng headed south in search for some rivers where he would find some fishes and simultaneously find bears that were hunting these same fish.

Tian Longmeng went out for 5 miles, where he eventually found a sizeable lake. "This should be perfect for hunting fishes." Tian Longmeng snickered as he set out to stalk his swimming prey.

Soon after, Tian Longmeng threw an assault of stones and precise directions, hitting every fish that came in a 5-metre radius of his hiding area.

"Perfect! I even caught a few extra." Tian Longmeng rejoiced as he revealed himself and leapt into the water to collect the knocked out fishes. After this was done, Tian Longmeng's mouth salivated as he thought of some sinister thoughts.

"I wonder if I can use some of these extras to bait some bears." Tian Longmeng thought over as he took and slightly southwest direction to hunt for some bears. After all, Tian Longmeng could not directly confront the large builds of the bears.

If people were to know of this little, 7-year-old boy's plans, their jaws would drop so far in disbelief. This savage boy has plans to lure the bears towards the fishes and ambush them with a herald of stones and boulders.

Tian Longmeng laid the trap and as he was going to go to hiding, he thought of an even more sinister idea that made him giggle. Tian Longmeng found a nearby flexible, Scarlet Oak Tree and stretched one of the thick branches into a crescent moon around the base of the tree. Afterwards, he laid the bait and waited on a high tree with a 200 jin boulder in his hands.

Although it took around 6 incense sticks of time to eventually have a bear come down and find the bait, the plan did indeed work. All Tian Longmeng has to do is to wait out the bear for it to land securely in the spot so that it cannot escape when Tian Longmeng executes his plan.

Sure enough, the bear crept over, albeit suspicious of its surroundings. As the bear lowered its head to take a bite of the fish, a 200 jin boulder landed 5 metres behind it. The bear jumped up and left the fish, hoping to leave this in the opposite direction. The bear was going to be disappointed as a massive tree branch came hurling towards it, sending it flying for metres in the air.

The bear eventually stopped when it landed on a hillside, life or death uncertain. Tian Longmeng picked up the fish and headed towards the direction the bear flew. "Hmm, I wonder what I should do if it managed to survive that impact. I should just carry something along with me then." Tian Longmeng thought as he was heading towards the hillside.

He found a Scarlet Oak Tree and broke off a flexible branch with his incredible strength. Bear in mind that for Tian Longmeng to successfully lift a 500 jin boulder, he himself has to be able to exert 800 jins of strength. That kind of strength is easily able to crack large rocks and break trees in half. It is even more shocking for a 7-year-old to possess this inhumane strength!

After some time, Tian Longmeng found the bear barely struggling to move from the crevice of the hill. Tian Longmeng decided to wait out and not attack to see if the bear will survive. Unfortunately, the bear was very persistent and steadily kept moving to evade the area.

It must have deciphered that someone was purposely after his life and decided that staying in this location was not the best of ideas.

What the bear did not expect was that as he turned his back, a little boy would emerge from the bushes and attack its hind legs. The bear managed to evade the attack, thus making Tian Longmeng's surprise attack fail. They regained composure and stared each other down to analyze each other's movements.

When the bear noticed the Scarlet Oak branch in Tian Longmeng's hand, it released a roar in anger and blindly rushed towards Tian Longmeng. Tian Longmeng was frightened by the sudden assault from the bear and reflexively dodged from the way. Later on, Tian Longmeng noticed that the bear was just blindly swinging its claws at him so Tian Longmeng decided that it was time to end it before the bear regained composure.

Tian Longmeng made quick work of the bear using the Scarlet Oak branch to whip out at the bear's feet, shaking its balance. Instantly, Tian Longmeng spun the branch around and smacked the bear in its stomach with all of his might, sending the bear flying into the hillside once more.

The bear groaned and attempted to escape from Tian Longmeng; however, Tian Longmeng was not going to let that happen.

He brandished the branch and sprinted towards the bear's retreating figure. The bear realized that it could not leave the place alive without killing Tian Longmeng so it turned around to stop Tian Longmeng's attack.

However, the bear underestimated the little boy's strength once more, as Tian longmeng impaled the bear's chest with the broken side of the Scarlet Oak branch with his 800 jin strength. Blood sprayed all over Tian Longmeng and the bear dropped backwards and stopped moving. Its death was certain.
