A problem, a huge problem arose shortly after a few days had gone by after their return to the Mist Kingdom. It was not an issue regarding the war but her own memories.
So that's what type of spell Kazuya was casting on her in the carriage. He told her that he was helping relieve her fatigue, but to think he cast magic that would help her regain her memories. Since Rhys was the main cause of her loss memories, normally it is up to the spell caster. But he cast magic that helped her regain everything without Rhys permission.
Her memory loss huh? She was under the impression it happened due to the war. But, it seems like Rhys was the one who cast it on her several months after she had married Kazuya.
Now that she remembers she feels a bit embarrassed by her previous behaviour.
'Calm down, it's not like he has noticed yet.'
But with how sharp his intuition is, it won't take him long before he realises that her behaviour towards him has changed. Then should she continue to treat him coldly? However, now that she remembers everything it will be difficult to do that.
How unusual, when she first saw him again she made it quite clear that she would draw the line between them. However, if she were to be perfectly honest with herself.
'I would be lying to say that his actions did not move me. He got himself captured by Ayah for my sake.'
When she saw him in that condition, even with no memories she felt very emotional. Moreover they made new memories together, the past Rhys and the current are very different. Naturally, both of them have grown older. Their circumstances have changed, and in the time apart they both met new people and were in different environments.
The current Rhys is very different and yet she sees some similarities from the past overlapping with the current him.
Lyn sighed deeply. 'I wonder what Kazuya was thinking making me remember.'
No, she already understood with his personality. Kazuya, will never let his friends suffer. Kazuya must sympathise that Rhys still likes her. Does he think their marriage is unfair because she lost her memories regarding her feelings for Rhys?
Lyn sighed deeply as she slumped her head on the stack of papers on her desk, in her office. She thought if she did paperwork she would be able to distract herself. But it is no good.
She stood up and exited her office. It was still early so there wasn't a single person in the hallway. Everyone must still be sleeping, but she is sure there are a few people awake already. They must all be guarding her bedroom. She made it look like she was still there.
"Did you girls just see that? Sir Rhys is training the soldiers!"
"Kyaah, maybe we can go watch?"
"Ssh, if the head maid finds out we are slacking she will get angry."
Lyn paused hearing the gossiping of the maids on the other end of the hall. Rhys is awake? The past few days since she realised they returned, she has maintained her distance from him. But, secretly whenever she found the opportunity to do so, she would secretly watch over him.
It did not take long before she arrived at the long spiral staircase, that led to the rooftop. She walked for a few minutes before stopping in the middle and peering through the window.
Oh, he really is training the soldiers.
Somehow this sight feels familiar. Now that she thought about it, back when she was still a Princess she often watched Rhys like this. Back then she did so because she wanted to secretly learn more skills for battle. However, what is the reason now?
It feels so strange to her, to suddenly have feelings for somebody who isn't Kazuya. Due to Kazuya's bad habit of disappearing, she recieved many confessions from different men of noble standing. Everybody assumed that she would take on another husband, as it is normal to do so. But she never did that.
Was a part of her waiting for Rhys to return? Even if she did not love the other person. Lyn knew that she would eventually have to take on another husband for the sake of preserving the blood line. No matter how against she was, she cannot completely defy the elders.
Even though she has made many changes in the Kingdom, there are many things she cannot change. This must be how mother felt, even though she stands in a position of power. There is a limit to what she can do.
Her status as Queen is still too low to make proper changes. In order to make properc
Lyn didn't realise how much time had passed since she first started watching Rhys. It wasn't until she noticed something wrong.
Her gaze fell on the spot where Rhys was just moments ago and realised that he was no longer there. Uh, where did he go? Lyn looked around only for a few seconds when a flash of black appeared beside her.
It was Rhys, he had jumped through the window.
"Is something wrong, Queen?"
"N--nothing."
"..."
Rhys appeared in front of her and placed his hand on her forehead.
He frowned. "Hey, how long have you been watching me?
"Uh, for a while."
Before she knew it so much time had passed. It was early morning when she overheard the servants say that Rhys was training the soldiers.
Rhys brought his hands to her cheek and stretched it. "Are mt words a joke to you Queen? I told you strictly before we came back here, when you return you must rest. What are you doing trying to catch a cold wearing such little clothing?"
"I-uh-" Lyn didn't know what to say. Honestly, she didn't think about it in that much detail. When she heard Rhys was training the soldiers, she searched for the best location and got lost in thought watching him.
"Kazuya, he's been busy hasn't he?"
"Ah yes, work piled up and he has to explain his absence. He said he would make up for leaving me alone, so that's why I'm free right now."
"Then you should use this time to rest."
Rhys picked her up. "Alright, I'll take you to your room. Where is it?"
"I-I'm fine-" Lyn's sentence fell short seeing his sharp gaze. She supposes she can't do anything about this.
