"I was cleaning the room," Gu Shenyi's voice was low with an undistinguished tremble.

Gu Shenyi felt very small and inferior as Wei Ying looked her up and down. She didn't like that look. Why did Miss Shi look down on her so much? If she had the same resources as Miss Shi, she also wouldn't be working as a maid and would have done something with her life. Something amazing. Something other people looked up to.

Gu Shenyi suppressed her bitterness and stood up.

As she made to leave, Wei Ying blocked her way. "What are you holding in your hand?" asked Wei Ying as she looked at Gu Shenyi's fist.

Gu Shenyi froze in her place and color drained from her face. Unconsciously, she put her hand behind her back and took a step back.

Forcing a smile, Gu Shenyi looked away, "Miss Shi, it's nothing important. It's my ring. I took it off while cleaning the room."

"Cleaning the room?" Wei Ying tilted her head, "Where are the cleaning tools? It couldn't be that you used your clothes." Wei Ying looked at Gu Shenyi's neat clothes and commented, "They look clean to me."

Gu Shenyi's body trembled a little, but she tried to force down her dread and respond as naturally as possible, "Miss Shi, I just…"

"Hm?" Wei Ying prompted. Was Gu Shenyi also planning on treating her as a fool?

She could accept playing along with Yu Huateng, after all, Shi Yuxi loved him so much that she could ignore all suspicion. But Gu Shenyi? No way in hell.

She was her love rival, after all, keuk. Wei Ying laughed inside at her joke and stopped Gu Shenyi again from leaving.

Gu Shenyi's fist clenched tightly around the object in her hand. Her hands were sweaty and slippery but she held on tightly till it hurt.

With her heart pounding, Gu Shenyi's voice quivered, "Miss Shi, I am but a maid, why are you making things difficult for me? Can't you let me go? I did nothing wrong."

Wei Ying didn't bother to hide her eye roll, "You are clearly guilty. You took something from Big Brother Teng's room. I want to know what it is. I can't let you go before I see it."

"Miss Shi, I am not a thief, why would I take something from Yu Huateng's room? I may be poor but that doesn't mean I am a thief or I don't have any integrity. Miss Shi, please respect yourself?"

Gu Shenyi's expression was self-righteous and filled with indignation as she talked loudly.

Wei Ying didn't bother to be polite anymore and took Gu Shenyi's wrist in her hand. If she wasn't going to show her, she would see it forcefully.

"Miss Shi," Gu Shenyi shouted loudly, her face filled with panic and her eyes flustered. "Please stop."

Wei Ying didn't care about Gu Shenyi's struggle and forced her hand open.

In a fluster, Gu Shenyi pushed Wei Ying hard toward the railing of the stairs.

With precise movement, Wei Ying dodged. If she fell for such a weak attack, then her days in the apocalypse would have been wasted for nothing.

Wei Ying quickly came behind Gu Shenyi, twisted her hand behind her back, and took the object in her hand. It was a small flash drive.

Gu Shenyi struggled despite the pain coming from her hand. With sweat dripping down her face, Gu Shenyi cried, "Miss Shi, give it back to me. It's not something you should care about. It's nothing important."

Wei Ying fixed the struggling Gu Shenyi and snorted. "Your reaction says otherwise."

As Wei Ying was about to mock Gu Shenyi's high-sounding words when Yu Huateng appeared on the stairs.

Seeing the situation in front of him, Yu Huateng frowned.

Was Shi Yuxi bullying Gu Shenyi? When did she become like this?

Yu Huateng was faintly disappointed.

"What's happening here?" Yu Huateng asked, tone filled with displeasure.

Gu Shenyi looked at Yu Huateng and her face paled even more. Her feet gave out and she plopped on the ground, body trembling.

Wei Ying looked at Gu Shenyi with cold eyes, "Big Brother Teng, this maid is dishonest and is planning something to hurt you."

"What do you mean?" Yu Huateng frowned. Is Gu Shenyi hurting him? That was impossible. She wasn't capable of anything. Yu Huateng even suspected that Gu Shenyi wouldn't be able to hurt a fly, let alone him, the person she loved but didn't dare acknowledge her feelings to.

Wei Ying rolled her eyes internally. She could clearly see what Yu Huateng thought from his eyes alone.

That kind of self-confidence he has was born from disillusionment for sure.

Wei Ying didn't hold back and told Yu Huateng the entire story. "I bought a cravat for you and I was planning on putting it in your room. When I went in, I found Gu Shenyi coming out. I asked her what she was doing, and she said she was cleaning the room, but there were no tools whatsoever and she was holding this in her hand. I took it by force from her."

Wei Ying looked at Gu Shenyi who was bowing her head and trembling like a leaf, "Big Brother Teng, I think you should check what's in this flash drive just in case. This maid is clearly guilty."

Yu Huateng looked in disbelief at Gu Shenyi. No matter how he wanted to convince himself otherwise, Gu Shenyi really looked guilty.

With red eyes, Yu Huateng took the flash drive and glared at Gu Shenyi. Never did he think she would betray him so.

Didn't he give her everything she asked for? Why did she act like this? Why did she betray him?

"What's in it?" asked Yu Huateng with a voice dripping with ice. He was hurt and disappointed.

Gu Shenyi sobbed and shook her head repeatedly while mumbling something.

The last hope in Yu Huateng's heart shattered.

"Big Brother Teng, I think she stole business secrets from your laptop or something." Wei Ying instigated from the side.

Yu Huateng closed his eyes tightly. When he opened them again, the white of his eyes was red and he had a freezing look that made Gu Shenyi tremble even more.

She didn't plan on giving those business informations at all. She even thought of deleting them for good. She was really innocent.

Wei Ying watched Yu Huateng open his laptop. As he entered the password, Wei Ying rolled her eyes. It was the date he and Gu Shenyi signed the "selling body for money" contract. No wonder Gu Shenyi was able to open his laptop.

Yu Huateng checked the content of the flash drive, and sure enough, it was filled with secret information about his latest projects.

"Yu Huateng, believe me, I never planned on betraying you. I am innocent, please believe me. I can explain," Gu Shenyi crawled towards Yu Huateng and clutched his pants.

Wei Ying's lips tipped up as she watched Gu Shenyi beg for mercy and try to get Yu Huateng to believe in her innocence.

Originally, Gu Shenyi stole several business secrets but she changed many things in them and gave them away. It resulted in the rival company losing so much money and Yu Huateng taking the opportunity to take a piece of the pie.

When Yu Huateng got to know about what she did, he felt full of love and satisfaction. The person he cherished also cherished him, protected him secretly, and fought alongside him. What more could a man ask for?

Wei Ying didn't know how Gu Shenyi was able to change professional information with her high school degree, but logic didn't matter in these cases.

Now, however, Wei Ying exposed Gu Shenyi early on. She would like to see how these pair of scums hurt each other.

Gu Shenyi could forget about impressing Yu Huateng and making him value and love her more. The only thing Gu Shenyi would end up with was Yu Huateng's suspicion and cold shoulder.

Now that their emotions for each other were still weak, Yu Huateng would only feel that the woman he bestowed favor upon didn't cherish his attention and care and betrayed him instead.

Gu Shenyi who wasn't able to explain herself would feel that Yu Huateng didn't value her and never trusted her or even believed in her.

Wei Ying would like to see how love would bloom between these two after such a big misunderstanding.

Wei Ying hid her smile and patted Yu Huateng's shoulder.

"It's good that we discovered this before these were sent out, otherwise the losses would be severe and the capital chain of the company would have cracked."

Yu Huateng turned his head and looked at the crying Gu Shenyi darkly.

Gu Shenyi shook her head with tears streaming down her face, "Yu Huateng, you have to believe me. I never planned on betraying you."

Wei Ying stood in front of Yu Huateng and looked at Gu Shenyi with a haughty look, "How dare you call Big Brother Teng by his name?"
