When I woke again, I was still in Damian's arms. We were sitting back inside the carriage, and across from us, Helios stared with wide, almost bulging, eyes.
"Mommy you're awake," he crawled forward, resting his hands on Damian's arm to take a better look at me.
"Where are we going?" I asked, trying to sit myself up to glance out the window.
"I'm bringing you back home mommy," Helios answered quickly before Damian could get a word in.
"Can you let go?" I turned to Damian's pensive face. He avoided my eye contact, only squeezing me tighter to his chest.
I relented.
"Can you at least explain why you're working with the enemy?"
Enzo had expressed his intent to kill the Eastern Emperor, yet here Damian was siding with them.
"It's simple," he eventually spoke, "I hate my father and everything he stands for. Everything that disgusting kingdom stands for."
"And the Eastern Empire is any better?"
