Lily

Dev noticed the cat looking at her kitten. He stood up and went toward the kitten. She hissed at him when he picked up the kitten.

The kitten hasn't even fully opened their eyes. Dev guessed the kitten's age to be less than two weeks, but more than one week, about 8 to 12 days.

The kitten looked more like a small version of a Bengal tiger rather than a cat. The kitten was a female. Her fur was brown except for her belly, which was white in color. She had black stripes all over her body.

When Dev picked her up, she was struggling to leave, but he didn't let her go.

He took the kitten to the cat and gently put it near the cat's face. The Cat started licking her kitten. Dev started looking around for other litters, as cats on Earth generally give birth to more than one litter having different fathers. He didn't find any litter even after looking for minutes. He didn't go far from the cat as he was afraid of the tomcat attacking them.

He has already treated the cat as much as he could with the things he had in his hand currently. Even after giving his best, he couldn't save the cat. She took her last breath while giving a bath to the kitten.

He was stunned when he felt a look of gratitude from the cat's eyes for him. He didn't expect an animal to have such clear emotions.

He was now in a dilemma, he couldn't just leave a kitten whose mother had just been killed and if not for him even the kitten would've died. If he takes the kitten with him on his journey, his journey duration will extend by at least a month.

He stood there in a dilemma for a while. He made his decision when the kitten tried to reach her mother's breasts for drinking milk. She didn't get any milk, so she started crying.

He decided to take her with him, he can give her up when he finds a city. He couldn't handle her crying, so he gently picked her up, held her, and started petting her.

The kitten calmed down after some time. The main issue He had was, what to feed the kitten?

He didn't know whether the feline species of Earth and Nehan had any similarities or not.

The kitten finally slept after some petting. He gently put her on the backpack he was carrying.

He needed to bury the cat. He didn't want the cat's dead body to be eaten and dismembered.

He took out a shovel from his backpack and started digging the ground. After digging for more than two hours, he finally dug a big enough grave for the cat.

He picked up the dead body of the cat, put it in the grave. He then started looking for flowers, he found lilies where the cat died, with drops of blood on them. He plucked the clean lilies and put them on the grave. The kitten also woke up from all the noise, so he put the flowers on while letting the kitten touch them with her tiny paws.

He then left with the kitten. He was petting the kitten while walking away from the grave.

He is now taking the kitten with him, so he needed a name for her. He started thinking about the names for naming the kitten when suddenly lilies appeared in his mind.

"From today on, your name is Lily," Dev said while looking at the kitten sleeping peacefully.

A smile appeared on his face seeing Lily so peaceful.

He couldn't find milk even after looking for some time. He has read on Earth that many tree barks can be used to provide milk but he didn't find here any. He has no idea about what should he feed Lily.

He was feeling very tired as well as he couldn't find anything for feeding Lily, so he returned to his resting place for sleep.

The next day, he got awaken by the disturbance. Lily was meowing with her half eyes open. He knew she was hungry.

He decided to feed her fruit juice, but first, he gave a bowl of water to her for drinking.

He then washed his hands, peeled a banana, and then again washed his hands. He then crushed the banana into liquid. He then used a filter to throw away the solid. He then repeated the process until he could fill a bowl full. He used Banana as he only had bananas left. He didn't know whether it would risk the health of the kitten or not, but he didn't have another choice. He also has read on earth that Kittens can be given bananas.

He also believed that the digestion system of Nehan cats must be better than the Earth ones. It's a higher-level planet so it should also give birth to stronger beings.

His risk paid off. Lily liked the banana juice. After Lily ate, Dev picked her up but she still resisted his touch. She tried to warn him many times about not picking up, but all her warnings stopped when He scratched under her chin.

Time flew, It has been a month since Dev and Lily started their journey together. There hasn't been much change in Lily's size which was out of Dev's expectations. Her eyes can fully open now. She'll sit on his shoulder all day and look at the surroundings curiously.

Dev's timetable during this past month was very simple. Feed the kitten every four hours, meditate for two hours, travel during the day, and rest during the night. He wasn't getting any time for his archery practice.

Lily has also become very close to Dev, she never leaves his shoulder and wants to play every day with him. He was getting bored from eating fruits every day, so he decided to hunt today for the meat.

He was looking for something he can easily hunt without getting hurt.

After looking here and there for some time, He found a boar sleeping in the shade of the tree. Boars have an acute sense of smell, hearing, and eyesight, so he didn't dare to move close.

He needed to at least have 200 yards of distance from the boar. He had read on Earth that boars aren't solitary species, they live in groups with the female and their offsprings, so he tried to find family members of this wild boar.

Even after looking for half an hour, he couldn't find any other wild boar, so he concluded that this boar must be a male. A male boar lives a solitary life, except during the mating season. He found himself lucky.

He neither knew his full strength nor the boar's, so he decided against the front fight with the boar.

He needed to find a safe place for Lily, where he can keep her without having any worries about her.

He moved away from the boar silently, jumped up on a tree, put down Lily on a branch, looked seriously at her, and said, "Wait for me."

Lily also didn't try to fuss, she silently sat down. He rubbed her head after seeing her, she squinted her eyes in enjoyment. He picked out strawberries like fruits from his Pocket Space which she liked very much. He gave her some and jumped down slowly.

He picked out Bow and arrows from his Pocket Space.

Dev was sure of shooting the boar successfully from a distance of about 50 meters, but if the arrow misses vitals then he'll be in a precarious situation.

He could kill the boar in one shot if he uses Prana on the arrow, but then if the shot misses, he wouldn't even have enough energy to run. Using Prana on the arrow was his last choice.

He didn't try to take any risk, he climbed the strongest tree he could find there to increase his safety chances.

After climbing to a safe height, he nocked an arrow on the bow, took the aim, and shot the arrow. Unfortunately, he missed the target.

Boar's sleep got disturbed by the sound of the arrow.

Boar was looking for the source of the sound when suddenly he heard another sound. Dev shot another arrow. TheAarrow successfully hit the boar's shoulder this time. Boar made loud oink in pain. The pain made the boar mad.

Dev didn't want to give the boar any chance to escape, so he shot another arrow, his aim being the shoulder of the boar. The arrow missed the boar's shoulder but successfully hit the boar's leg.

Dev started shooting arrow after arrow in hope of hitting the vital, and critically injuring or killing the boar. Not even a single arrow hit the boar's vitals, but some of them hit on different parts of the boar. It did nothing more than make the boar madder.

Boar lost his sanity due to the pain, he started ramming itself into trees without thinking of the consequences.

Dev's back was sweating and his body was cold due to the damage caused to the jungle by the boar.
