Chapter 17

"What is it?" asked Serena.

Dev said, "As you know, I only know what I've heard from you guys about the world. I'm leaving you guys, and I don't know anything about the Dwarvish language. I wanted your help regarding this."

Serena took a relieved sigh after hearing his request.

She said, "Oh, it's easy. It'll just cost some money. You'll have to buy a translator, it'll help you conversing with every major race living on Nehan."

"Will it cost too much?" asked Dev nervously.

A smile appeared on her face, witnessing his nervous face. She said, "Don't worry about the money, we can afford it. You just prepare for your journey without thinking of anything."

He didn't know what to say, unpayable debts after debts were piling on his head. He vowed to himself, he'll give them the best life they could ever imagine.

Time flew. It has been twenty days since the conversation between Dev and Serena. He and Rose spar every day which always results in him turning black and blue. He'll then meditate for as much as his body could handle. He also started learning Archery from Rose. Whenever Serena will be free, she'll also teach him some.

The translator arrived on the third day after asking Serena.

When Dev saw the translator, he was shocked. The translator was in the form of a very small blue capsule. Earth also had a Global translator, but it wasn't this small, and it needed to be externally used. But here you just have to eat the capsule, and it'll start translating every known language of Nehan into Elvish, you'll hear it in your mind.

A gnome slave created this translator. As a result, the creator and their master's whole family were killed by Gnomes. Gnomes in Nehan are known to be a cruel and close-minded race. The only contact they have with the outer world is when they need some special materials. They don't want people using their created technology, as their leader once said they only create different technologies for their God, these creations are sacred to them.

As the translators proved to be Useful, the Elf king personally warned Gnomes about forgetting to kill the people who use translators, otherwise be prepared for extinction. Elf's weren't just overlord of Nehan in name, Elf king was the daughter of a very powerful Elf from the higher world. That's why the Elf king was female even though it had a king in its name.

He could've left early but he was just waiting because Rose put up a condition to him, "You'll only leave after I've got an invitation from Takshila academy."

He didn't want a beating from Rose, so he accepted her condition. Today was the day when she finally got the invitation from Takshila.

The whole family including Dev got emotional seeing the invitation. This invitation was the proof of their better life for the future. Now, there is a chance that Serena can become a Level 3 in the future greatly increasing her lifespan.

The next day, Dev has decided to leave today.

He prepared everything he needed for an emergency. Serena was worried seeing him carrying so much stuff for his journey. She also tried to tell him to carry stuff in moderation for his journey as it will make him easily tired.

He only smiled in response, only he knew that he had a pocket space that would store all the things. There were space rings in this world but only Level 3 and above beings could use them.

He was finally ready to leave. He said goodbye to Serena and Rose, told them that they could contact him anytime they want. If they ever have any problems, then without thinking of anything they should contact him. Communication on this planet was way better than on Earth.

After leaving the house, he turned back to see the house for the last time. He reminisced about his time during the past few months in this house. He then turned around and left without turning back again.

After making some distance from the house where no one could see him, he put everything in his Pocket Space. He felt so light after doing this.

There was a hint of nervousness, excitement, as well as expectations on his face. He didn't have any idea what he'll face in the future, but he wasn't worried about the future at all. He was ready for any challenge that life would throw at him. He didn't have anything to lose, he could only gain. He has started his journey to gain back everything he has lost. He picked out his family photo from the Pocket Space, and his conviction became even stronger seeing the smile on everyone's faces.

It has been three days since the start of his journey. His journey has been peaceful until now. The only time he came close to danger was when he was close to a herd of bison. Even on earth, bison are known to be aggressive, but they were herbivores, but in Nehan, they are omnivores as well as aggressive. The size of the bison was the same for both Nehan and Earth. Dev has seen many species of animals and plants which he has seen or heard about on Earth.

He safely avoided the bison's herd by changing his direction. He thought about jumping on the trees but he didn't try to take the risk. Bison are known to be very strong and it isn't hard for them to knock down trees.

Dev had found a place to rest, he was preparing for his dinner. The only thing he'll never lack in this journey was food.

While eating dinner, he was thinking about his financial issues. It was very hard for him to cope up with financial problems. He never had any kind of financial issues his whole life. He couldn't also use Earth's technology here as in this world some technologies were even more developed than the Earth. The only technology missing in Nehan was technology related to space, but here people don't need them. Almost everyone on Nehan knows that there are many other worlds stronger and weaker than Nehan.

After eating dinner, He was trying to sleep but his sleep got disturbed due to a very light meow Which he wouldn't have even heard if it wasn't so silent in the jungle. He tried to ignore it but he couldn't as he heard a hiss. He couldn't ignore it anymore. He proceeded silently toward the sound. As he moved toward the source, the hiss turned into cries. He was sure that there was a fight between Cats going on. What he was worried about was the light meow that disturbed him. He was hundred percent confident that it was a kitten.

He increased his speed. The scene he saw chilled him. A cat was dying after fighting with a tomcat. The tomcat, after almost killing the cat, was making his way toward the kitten. The dying cat tried very hard to stand up and stop the tomcat but it failed. She was just hissing at the tomcat while being in so much pain.

Dev couldn't stop himself from doing anything. He picked out a bow and an arrow from his pocket space and shot the arrow. The arrow failed to hit the tomcat. The arrow alerted the tomcat. The tomcat noticed Dev's presence, hissed at him to warn him.

Dev ignored the warning, he put another arrow in the bow and aimed it at the tomcat. The tomcat didn't dare to make a move, Dev also didn't dare to shoot the arrow. He didn't want a close fight with the tomcat.

The tomcat started backing down to make the distance. He still didn't try to run away from Dev. Dev couldn't just stand and wait for the tomcat to attack. As time passed, the situation of the cat was becoming worse. She will die if she doesn't get treatment.

He decided to take a risk as he couldn't wait anymore. He shot, and like his first try, he missed again. He didn't know what to feel, he tried to prepare for the attack but the attack never came. The tomcat ran instead of rushing at Dev.

He took a breath of relief after the tomcat ran. He was sure of winning but he will surely get injured.

He rushed to the injured cat to treat her. Seeing the cat's situation made him sad.

She has just been away from the fight so she didn't trust Dev. When he tried to reach her, she tried to move away from him but she wasn't strong enough. He started treating her, but as the situation unfolded, he became completely sure that the cat wouldn't survive. He still didn't stop and used all the medicines he had that could help the cat.

She stopped struggling as she knew he was trying to help him. She also somewhat knew she wouldn't survive. She looked at the kitten and meowed.
