Chapter 8: A lesson in power 4

Septum lay in a pile of debris, the world around him spun violently as he struggled to remain conscious enough to get up. Or even fight.

Everything hurt, every breath he took caused him to wince with a pain so sharp, he could've sworn he had been impaled on a piece of debris. Maybe he had and he just hadn't looked yet.

Not like it would do any good.

Blinking through the tears of pain that raced through his body with every beat of his heart. He knew just what he had to do to kill the Android. Though if he hadn't taken some of the hits that he did in the beginning of the fight. He would've still been out there keeping the thing busy right until it left itself open for him to strike it down.

If only he had read its movements right just a bit earlier, he would've already lopped its arm from its body. Or at least done some major damage to it.

What would Lance have done? Septum thought to himself. Thinking of what the older Agent would've done. With the first notable answer coming up being he would've already read the Androids speed and reacted to it promptly. He would've also been able to do substantial damage right from the beginning, and dodged the attacks with such efficiency that the Android itself would have to adjust.

It was always one of the places that he fell short in. That and strategy were both his major short-comings when it came to combat situations. And right now, in his current situation. The Android had them right where it wanted them.

It reminded him of the first time he trained with Tatsu. The other Elite responsible for his training, and the one hardest to train with. Mainly due to the mans overwhelming physical power that it was lethal just to be hit by a restrained blow.

"If you're going against an enemy who outmatches you when it comes to strength. Then outmatch it with speed and defense. Either wait for an opening to present itself, or make one with your speed. Given the build you have, you can add enough power behind your attacks that given the right combo will turn the tide of combat in your favor. Just gotta take advantage of that." Tatsu said after having respectfully handed Septum his ass.

"There's also a secret that most people don't know about Agents." Juno added as Tatsu finished speaking. "There are a select few Agents that during combat can enter a state of heightened combat potential for a limited period of time. Increase in strength, speed, and ocular precision."

"What is it called?" Septum said between heavy breaths as he gulped down a few ounces of water.

"We call it Berserker mode." Juno said, placing a gentle hand on the young agents aking body. "And you may have the capability of entering such a state."

Tessa breathed heavily as she continued to move around the room, a deep burning sensation washing through her body the more she moved. Just a little longer Tess. That's all you need. Just a little longer.

Spinning her wakizashis, Tessa dodged around the Android's next flurry of attacks, sundering a finger from its hand with a lucky strike, then slashing its torso to leave an X shaped gash on its synthetic skin.

"Why won't you just die already?!" Tessa yelled out in aggravation as her numerous attacks that landed on the Android didn't seem to do jack shit against it.

"Simple. Because you are weak." Andros said, catching one of her Wakizashi, breaking it into hundreds of tiny pieces, backhanding her away from him in a set of fluid movements.

Tessa rolled on the ground, stars filling her vision, she couldn't afford to stay down. Not when she knew the Android was going to be bearing down on her in a matter of seconds. She got onto her hands and knees in time to receive a kick to her gut. Sending her flying further into an unbroken portion of wall.

This wasn't supposed to be happening. She wasn't supposed to be losing to some lowly Android. Not with the training she has, not with the power she had. But because of this damned sickness, she found herself weak and nearly powerless. So she sat there with her back against the wall, watching as the Android walked up to her.

"Any last words before I cave your skull in little human?" Andros asked, holding out its hand out, touching Tessa's cheek gently, rubbing a speck of blood from the corner of her mouth.

"About time." Tessa smiled smugly.

Before the Android had time to react to the humans words. It watched as the hand that was touching the woman's face fell from its arm.

"What th-" Andros spoke, turning around ready to attack in kind. Only to hear the slight slicing sound of a blade. Watching as its left arm fell from its body. "I hit you hard enough to keep you down. How are you still standing?"

Instead of receiving a verbal response. It was yet again met by the swing of a blade. This time, watching as its body was now inches away. Watching as the human Septum stabbed the blade right through Andros' chest striking its core.

"What a hell of a way to go…" Andros said, its voice trailing off with each word spoken. Growing more and more broken and distorted as its life was cut off.

Septum stood breathing heavily as he stared down at Tessa with a blank look in his eyes. "Target eliminated." He muttered under his breath, stumbling forward catching himself with the hilt of his blade.

Tessa looked around the room quickly as she hurried over to Septum taking some of his weight. "Man you're heavy." She grumbled taking his blade into her free hand as she slowly moved heading towards the hole in the wall that was made with his very own body.

The otherside of the wall opened up to some kind of metallic door. Rusted over by time and lack of upkeep. "Please be able to be opened, I don't want to starve to death in some Androids murder hole." She muttered pulling on the door with all her strength, being met with resistance. "Of course it'd be fucking locked."

Seeing no better option. She gently set Septum down, and began looking for something to get that blasted door open.
