Chapter 45: Elf Servants?

Chapter 45: Elf Servants?

If the queen gets what she wants this entire island will be screwed. She's demanding too much from her people.

She has proven to her people that she is a tyrannical leader and poor businesswoman, and she knows it. That's the only reason she wants the bracelet.

Because she knows without it… Without her husband. She would be nothing.

"I'm willing to give you a loan. I don't mind."

She looked at this suspiciously, but at this point her greed was taking control of her logic.

"Fine."

Everyone in the room looked at this, and they were visibly showing signs of worry and fear. They knew that trusting me was a mistake, and they were right to do so. Unfortunately for them they weren't in charge.

"Your people have already signed their contracts, all you need to do is offer them as… permanent servants, in exchange for your artifact."

"What?! That's insane! You're talking about slavery!"

"I'll admit, this is a bit unconventional, but I can assure you of this. Your people will remain on the island, and we're so far away from my homeland there is no way they can pick your people up. Technically speaking they would only be slaves in name."

Everyone's faces were pale, they all knew this was a con, but they had no way to prove it. All they knew is that the queen would most likely say…

"Deal."

Perfect. After looking at my status screen I saw that 134,267 Star Elves have been added as an offering.

Everyone had their hands holding their heads in frustration and fear. For once in their lives they had actually come to regret coming to this island and following this lunatic of a woman.

"We never should have followed this woman."

"No. We never should've listened to her. We should've listened to the king. This woman will be the death of us."

I listened carefully to the words around me for a second but honestly I was too distracted with the [ACCEPT?] button.

So I clicked it immediately!

All I felt was an insatiable feeling of excitement. I haven't even reached Rosary and I have already gained my own subordinates. Obviously I'm not a total psychopath, I won't do anything too crazy, but it's the thought that counts.

Instead I just looked around at all the people looking at the queen. Even I had to look up at her as she held a bracelet as dark as night covered in red gold and Dread Obsidian.

It was a menacing sight to behold, but before things could get out of hand I immediately revoked her shop privileges so that she couldn't store anything away. She can still retrieve all of the items she bought but she definitely can't add anything.

I don't know if the Queen didn't notice this, or if she just didn't care. She just held the bracelet in her hands until it started glowing.

"Oh, it seems you've accepted me as your master."

What? What the hell?! The bracelet was a gift to me, and it never accepted me. It just stayed as a decoration for me. If it weren't so freaking tacky or conspicuous I would've worn it more often.

Crap! I forgot what I was supposed to do next!

"I wonder… what other items you may have on you."

Before I could do anything the Queen held the bracelet in her hands and activated it.

GASP!

Everyone in the room was scared stiff. They couldn't move an inch, while some outright fainted or pissed themselves.

Fortunately, me and Alora were doing better than everyone considering they were now level 1 while we were all 80+, but it still sent shivers down my spine.

I was going to retaliate until I heard something in the back of my ear.

[DING: YOU HAVE LEARNED FEAR LVL 1]

As soon as I heard that, I felt happy, and spiteful.

After a second I finally cast my own version of fear and with the help of [AMPLIFY] I could send out a wave of fear past the entire castle and beyond.

Within minutes the whole city was filled with dread, they all thought an evil spirit or a spiteful cryptid was standing right behind them, but they all knew it was coming from the castle. Instinctively, they knew. They could feel it.

After a few seconds, that feeling went away and the rage and anger the people felt for being robbed and ransacked faded into fear of the unknown.

Meanwhile inside the castle, Jessup stood before the one who calls herself Queen and he grabbed her by the wrist and took what was rightfully his.

Nobody stopped this, nobody could. They were either unconscious or barely standing. The only ones with the will to stay awake had no other choice but to stare in fear as the young man took what was left of the terrified tyrant queen.

She sat on her knees, she didn't argue, she didn't fight. She just stared at the floor while her body shook from fright.

As Jessup stood there with his hands now wrapped around the bracelet, he felt something. The bracelet started to glow and burn his palm ever so slightly. It seemed like the thing finally accepted him as its master.

(Hey congrats kid. You made a Queen piss herself and you robbed her of everything she's worth. You're a true thief.)

I ignored pilfer, like I always do. Until I pushed the queen onto the floor where she curled herself into a ball and wept softly.

After waiting for a while for everyone to wake up, I decided to just relax on the queen's throne until something happened.

After about an hour, everyone in the room was sitting up with a scared expression on their faces. Unlike the queen these people knew exactly what was going on.

"We were tricked."

"That bitch made us into a human's slave!"

"This is the end of our people. We're going to be sold by slave traders…"

Some voices sounded hateful while others were just plain pessimistic. Yet they all agreed on one thing. It was the Queen's fault.

"Well… Now that everyone is awake… Where the F*** is your King?!"

I'm no hero or savior, I'm just fed up with everyone's behavior. I want to know exactly what's happening around me. I don't like being left in mystery.

After a few minutes of waiting, they finally brought somebody out. It appeared to be a young boy about 12 or so. He was wearing some fine clothing but he was half asleep and mumbling.

"Why is he asleep? I can sense the power of a super. He shouldn't have been so affected by my power."

One of the elder elves spoke up a bit nervously.

"He's been drugged… master. The queen was afraid of what he would do once guests came to our island."

I looked at his restraints on his arms and the strange scar on his throat. I hate child torture. It's one of the worst tortures. At least wait until he's old enough.

"Can someone please remove these restraints?"

Everyone looked in worry for a second until one man spoke up.

"Sir- Master. That's not a good idea. Our… King… he has complete mastery over this island. If we free his hands, he can destroy everything."

"Hmm, neat. Do it anyway."

They didn't have a choice. The moment they said yes to a contract was the day they signed their soul away. Literally. They can't disobey me.

So instead of saying no they reluctantly removed his sack first before anything else.

I looked at his face, and unsurprisingly he was quite young. At first I was hoping he was just short, but no. He was a child.

He was barely 12 or 13 from the looks of it.

They kept a child as a prisoner in his own home and forced him to use his abilities to build a gaudy castle and a few houses.

I stared at the boy for a few seconds while wondering what he had been through to have such a face.

He looked miserable. There wasn't much animosity on him. His eyes were empty and void of anything like that.

When he was freed he didn't show much of a reaction, he just looked at the woman on the floor. He was too groggy to make a decision.

"Do you want to kill them? You can. I won't stop you."

He just looked at me for a second before looking to the ground in silence. I wasn't sure what I should do in this type of situation… I asked him if he wanted to kill his captors and the only ones that reacted were the captors…

What am I supposed to do? I already cast regeneration on him. The poison should be cleared up by now. I've even removed his slave collar. What more does he want?

Alora, who was by my side sitting on the armrest, nudged me in the ribs while I sat there like an idiot. So I got up and did the only thing I felt would be right…

I got up and hugged him, "There there. There there. Uhhh… There there…"

Everyone just looked at this scene bewildered and confused. I was over here treating this dangerous kid like he was a lost and injured puppy.

When really, he had the ability to sink this whole island if he wanted to. Heck, he's probably responsible for those weird underwater fortresses.

"Cough… uh… there there."

"You can stop now. You're embarrassing yourself."

Alora was right beside me as she wrapped the boy in a big hug with me.

Did we just adopt him?

"Lora… We're parents now."

Alora just looked at me like I was an idiot, and together we just held the kid like we were his actual mother and father.

After a few minutes he was sound asleep.

"That was easy. And nobody died. Shame."

So… what do I do with these idiots?
