Who is it?

The lightning mage, Violet jumped away as the Orc's fist landed on her previous location. It kept targeting her as she's weaker than her partner, Bernard.

"Violet! Let's just leave!" his voice expressed his despair. He had already lost his will to fight this monster.

The gap in strength was too big and he doesn't think they'll be able to kill this monster at all. So he tried to persuade Violet instead.

They already called the Player's Association for back up but it will take a while before they were able to come here.

And unfortunately, there was no Guild branches around this area so there will be no one to help them.

Violet thought about it. She bit her lower lip. 'That's right. They can't beat it anyway. Should they just run?'

In a battle against someone much stronger than you, every second is important. Getting distracted could cost your life.

Violet, who was in deep thought didn't immediately noticed the incoming attack from the Orc.

The fist that is as the same size as a car slammed toward her body.

Boom-!

"Violet!"

Her body hit the nearby buildings. Blood splutedo ut of her mouth as she slowly lose her consciousness.

The Orc saw this happened and figured that she wasn't a threat anymore. It turned toward the remaining person, Bernard.

"Fuck!" he instantly run away after seeing the murderous smile of the monster.

On the other hand, Vince first went toward the woman. His hands were shaking from fear as he sat down beside her. He gently placed her on the ground and activated his skill.

Black energy started coming out of his hand as his body trembled. This is the first time he went into a battle. His eyes immediately became red.

Fear. Anxiety.

Countless negative emotions swallowed him. He closed his eyes as he tried to focus on healing the dying woman in front of her.

"Please don't die. Please, please." he held her hand tightly.

He was so focused that he didn't noticed the notification window that popped out.

[Skill <Last Wish> conditions had been met.]

[Player <Violet> were marked by the skill <Last Wish>]

He could feel the woman's condition was getting better but he was forced to stop when he heard a scream.

"Ugh! Help!"

It's the other player! His head turned towards the man's direction. He saw him caught on the Orc's hand. The Orc laughed as if enjoying his suffering.

"Kehehehe!"

Vince glanced at the woman in front of him with a complicated gaze.

'What should I do? If he leave now, the woman will die. But if he didn't help the man, he'll die instead.'

He became dizzy as he harshly bit his lower lip. He could taste the blood in his mouth.

Taking a deep breath, he let go of the woman's hand. "I'm sorry."

Vince decisively run towards the man. Even if his whole body is trembling from fear, and even his mind kept on thinking of leaving the person to die.

He run.

His eyes slowly became intense as he glanced at the laughing Orc. It was slowly crushing the man with his hands while laughing like a maniac.

Unshed tears blurred his sight.

'If not because of this Orc... If not because of this monster... none of this would've happened!'

He wouldn't have to choose between these two people. He wouldn't have to leave that woman to die. And that man wouldn't be suffering.

It's like something snapped inside him and before he knew it, dark scarlet blades surrounded him pointing at the monster in front of him.

The Orc noticed the new presence. An ominous feeling enveloped the monster.

"DIE!"

The blades instantly flew towards the monster intending to cut it into pieces. The monster decisively threw Bernard away as he faced the scarlet blades. It felt a threatening power coming from these blades.

The Orc activated his skills intending to face the blades head on.

But Vince's eyes darkened as he watched the man's body thrown like a piece of trash. Dark thoughts filled his mind.

Die. Die.

Why can't you just die?

DIE.

DIE.

DIE.

DIE.

DIE.

JUST DIE ALREADY!

The blades seemed to be resonating to his emotions as their speed increased. The sharp blades shone as the sunlight hit its surfaced. The blades started cutting through the monster's body without mercy. It's HP continue to go down as it roared in anger.

Vince was just standing there. His eyes were starting to regained clarity. The man. He need to heal the man immediately!

But as if to add oil to the fire, a notification popped out in front of him.

[The marked player, <Violet> had died.]

[Skill, <Last Wish> is activated.]

[The player's rank is higher, the succession rate were decreased by 50%]

[Congratulations! You inherit the skill, <Lightning Manipulation> from marked player.]

'Last Wish?' He didn't remember when he activated this skill.

Then he noticed the notification window beside him that he didn't noticed. His eyes finally widen as tears slid his cheeks.

'T-The woman died...!'

He covered his mouth. He was speechless as tears continued to wet his cheeks.

The Orc roared as it tried to run away. Its instincts were telling the monster to run. The monster realized that if he didn't, he'll die. Suddenly, a blade materialized in front of Vince. It's a scarlet sword with a black handle.

The sword's blade were long and wide. As wide as his body and twice his height.

Vince subconsciously grabbed it.

His eyes were already dull. It's like the hands of the player who just died were strangling him, making him unable to breathe.

Her hands were trying to dragged him down to the abyss. The pit of darkness.

'You killed me. Why did you leave me?'

Those words whispered in his ear as his hand slowly raised. His strength soared, as he lifted the sword with ease.

Using his two hands, he slashed down.

The monster was cut into two, like a thin paper.

[You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

[You have leveled up!]

[The God of Death is praising you for your first battle.]

The backup from the Player's Association came and only saw the aftermath of the battle.

The road were evenly split into two as if it was sliced by a sharp blade. The cut didn't stopped until hitting the Orc's corpse. It was slashed into two pieces like the road.

"The monster is a Level 12 Orc. Based on it's injuries, we assumed that the one who killed it was a swordsman since there were cuts all over its body and it was also sliced vertically."

"We found two players around the area. A man and a woman. The man were unconscious and he's full of blood all over his body but aftee checking him, we found out that he's not injured. We think that someone must have healed him. While the woman..." the member of the P.A. shook his head.

The man who was listening to the other's report nodded his head. "You can leave now," he coldly muttered.

The member bowed his head before leaving.

The man glanced at the remains. His eyes narrowed. Someone defeated the monster but quickly left before they arrived. This player overpowered a Level 12 Orc so it must be a high-level one. There should also be a healer or a priest nearby since one of them have no injuries depsite the blood on his body.

No, it must be a priest. He could feel the strong divine power in the air.

But why would he leave? The compensation he can receive from the P.A. should be enough to make him stay but he just left?

His intuition is telling him that there's something more about the situation.

Also, based on the lingering divine power in the air, the priest must be strong. However, there's no one who could be this strong in this area.

'In the end, just who is it?'

'Who defeated the monster? And who is it that healed the player?'
