Chapter 27: finally treasures are within reach!

max was silent for a long period of time,

this near miss realization made him think about his every move carefully, he wasn't allowed to die before he achieved his greatness

he couldn't allow him self to be cannon fodder

max felt the urgency

he needed to be strong and be strong now, evelyn just watched from the side her eyes flashed with brilliance as she observed max, she could feel a deep unwillingness raged inside her little butler, she could feel his determination and the desperation for greatness awake within him.

she smiled happily, this way it would be more fun she thought, his too handsome to die a pitiful death

and just by the way he admired her beauty she felt like she had found a rare companion, someone who she could get along without having to be guarding against their schemes, as such she decided to shelter him for a bit more.

give him room to grow after all it was hard to find someone with such pure eyes, she had a feeling that she would enjoy watching struggle.

after everyone had rested theo walked up to the front leading the way, his sword the bringer of darkness in hand leaving behind a trail of darkness like a flowing river.

the resting men stood up, and carried their weapons, armors and shields with them and followed behind him.

turning to his side he spoke to the girl that followed aside him like a lost puppy,

" fiona use fast march "

" yes, anything for you " fiona replied quickly, with a soft light a floating book appeared on her left side, the book started to flip page by page before stopping on a strange page with ineligible writing and cursive scripts and annotations of men marching.

after the book landed on this page she waved her hand to the crowd " fast march " she shouted as if projecting it into reality.

a wave of blue light suddenly swept from the floating book and washed past the whole group.

everyone´s bodies suddenly felt lighter,

" wow, i feel like i can run forever"

" hahaha me too, with this speed i bet we will reach the Phanes site origin first "

" the treasure will be ours boys, lets goooo"

the crowd was excited, treasure!! finally the treasure was within reach

theo smiled his smile filled with mockery as if he found their hopeful eyes amusing, but he quickly restrained himself and turned around to look at the men who had put their trust in him

" we all came here looking for treasure, looking for an opportunity to become great now it has finally arrived, follow me and i shall protect you, i swear in the name of the sword saints that i will not fail you.

the crowd behind roared after him with passion

and followed behind him as they chatted

" tim can you believe it, we really are going to make it alive"

" i can't believe it at all, the way my little girl is gonna be so excited to see her father come back, just thinking about it makes me so happy "

" yeah your wife and daughter will definitely be excited, for me my family will be able to lift their heads more , when i return i will bring back glory "

" that's true, i´m so glad young master theo found our group"

similar conversations took place as the group marched at a fast pace due to the spell cast by fiona.

max and evelyn followed behind the rest of the group.

the group marched for 6 hours and set camp before dark,

the next morning the group continued marching and arrived near the location but had to camp again and would make the final journey the next morning.

as soon as the morning came the whole camp got dressed and ready to reach their destination, everyone was brimming with excitement and energy, the were about to reach the Phanes site of origin.

as the crowd marched closer and closer to the destination the excitement could be felt, they could see the promised greatness, it was just within arms reach.

after walking through a dense area of trees and brushes they found them self on a cliff and ahead of them laid a deep valley,

above the valley rocks big and small floated around a majestic temple in the middle of the valley.

the temple was build with gold and deep purple crystals, it looked like a building that should not exist in this reality, breath taking and beautifully crafted.

on the top of the temple was a small cross, barely visible from were they stood but somehow it looked out of place as it was very ordinary compared to its surroundings, it looked broken and old, made out of wood and have what seemed to be red blood on the outside but if one looked closer they would see that the blood was actually golden in its true nature.

underneath the temple that floated above the valley were golden roads paved in the forest, leading to bellow the campus,

and on the side were some trees with dazzling fruits, and golden leafs.

just below the temple was a platform its purpose not yet known.

standing on top of the cliff and looking onto this scene everyone was amazed, it was so breathtaking.

theo stood to the side and his sword vibrated gaining everyone´s attention

" to be truth i don't not know what lays ahead but, i as you have put your trust in me i will not allow you to miss this chance, before you is the Phanes site of origin

treasures await, greatness calls onto you

as such i only give you a few words

charge into death, fear it not for within it there is glory, if you make it to the other side you will gain supreme power, absolute riches

as he spoke his voice was infectious, the crowd who head it had their blood boiling.

their eyes red, and as theo finished his speech and pointed his sword forward, the crowd rushed into the valley with no regard of the danger.

no regard for their own lives,

max also felt tempted to rush with the crowd as his blood boiled, but suddenly his head ached with a sharp pain, becoming clear and awake from the strange state.

max took back his leg and his back was cold, he had almost charged head first into the unknown due to the strange state he was in.

max looked at all the men who charged into the valley and their state was not right, something was off, anyone in their right mind would not rush into the unknown with such disregard, especially in the door the unknown is the most frightening.

" hahahaha good " evelyn laughed " my little butler your will is strong for someone of your class"

" what happened ? " max asked,

" it's that little girls work" evelyn pointed at Fiona besides theo, " she can cast a spell to raise morale and make soldiers fearless, which is not normally bad and very helpful in wars or battles but it can make people with weak will power act without thinking and follow commands with out thought or fear, disregarding the danger.

in situations like this one, were fear can help one survive, loosing it and charging fearlessly will only lead to death

max looked at theo who just stood aside and watched them charge into the valley, besides him there were others in the group who did not charge but remained stood in their place,

max could see that they now seemed cautious of theo´s actions, they must have figured out his intentions too, and realised that if they had weaker will power they too would rush to their deaths.

Henry and his group were among the people who remained, only 30 to 40 percent of the people remained on the top of the hill.

max turned back his eyes at the people rushing into the valley, once again confirming how helpless the weak were in this world.

max could hear them as they charged, how pitiful is the fate of the weak he thought.

then suddenly a golden beam shot from the floating temple

a loud explosion sound, dirt and dust flew into the sky, everything was covered with a cloud of dust and misty blood mixed in forming red spots.

max's ears rang, after a few seconds he regained his hearing, and noticed a energy shield in front of the cliff blocking everyone on the hill from the impact of the beam.

after a while the dust started to settle down, everyone was curious to see what had happened, how many had survived and how many had died.

after a few moments of anticipation the dust cleared up.

max face turned pale white, everyone on the cliff was shocked

even evelyn was surprised, theo had his face bulging with veins white as a sheet of paper and his hands clenched.

everyone else had a look of deep seeded fear in their pupils.

before them, ahead of the cliff into the valley was a hole burned into the ground gold and around it was a pile of dead bodies, burnt and pulverized into nothingness.

nothing was breathing,

nothing was moving

everyone was dead, just a pile of dead bodies.

70 percent of the people who rushed in were pulverized into nothingness and 30 percent were either blasted into blood mist or blasted into incomplete body parts and limbs.

it was a total wipe out, nothing remained.

max's pupils constricted, was this the true horror of an unexplored door, was this why some of people before them who dared to explore a new door were wiped out, was this why anyone who made it our of the first wave exploring a new door alive was deeply respected.

this was a unexplored dimension door, the one that brought the rise of the Zhao clan the one that wiped out 3 great clans before.

this was its true nature, in just a moment they had lost 60 percent of their group

max can image if they all had charged maybe not even 5 percent would survive,
