Chapter 11: By ways of clan succession

Later that evening max received the level 4 spark stone, rika also brought a weird looking futuristic device that according to her tested the class and rank by injecting your Phanes energy into it.

Rika said that it can also be set up in a way that it forcibly drains all your Phanes energy this way you wouldn't be able to fake your ability level and power by injecting less than you actually can.

The abilities humans possessed were officially called Phanes abilities, Phanes meaning creation, thus creation abilities which were gained from the spark which was officially known as the spark of Phanes, or Spark of creation as Phanes is the Greek god of creation but It was just referred to as the spark.

Max put his hands on the device which rika called a Phanes aptitude tester or P.A.T for short, injecting all his energy into the P.A.T max saw it light up for a few moments before beeped green at which he removed his hand.

Max was curious how strong he was considering he defeated Sir Alex who was a veteran rank 7.

Rika looked at the results displayed on the device with a look of disbelief, turning around the device allowing max to see max saw that it said Noob class rank 6.

Mouth agape, max was dumbfounded by his actual power, he knew it was going to be weak since he had never train but this...., this was ridiculous.

Rika quickly tried to fix her expression but to no avail, she understood that this was the man or youth that lady sayama had said would save them and she knew better but to trust her mistress but a noob, although he was a noob with a very rare ability still, she was shocked at this result.

Rika quickly excused her self after expressing some comforting remarks, unsure what or how to proceed she expressed her strong faith in max but he could see and understand her doubt before she escaped.

Left alone max laid on the bed and was lost in his thoughts, he couldn't believe he was that weak, ' I'm just a noob ' he thought.

Max was suddenly made aware that he might have defeated Sir Alex but that was mainly because his ability was very rare so it was unexpected and few had experience fighting against it so didn't know how or what to expect, however he thought further even though his ability was rare it surely wouldn't be the rarest, and one day he would surely meet someone who could restrict his ability,

and if and when he did his noob class wouldn't save him, max was motivated to get stronger. Max soon fell asleep, forgetting to cultivate with the spark stone.

The next morning he was woken up and had some food before heading to the great hall with ai sayama, she told him how it was sacred and how like most clans the sayama clan would die to defend it as it was a clan´s honour and a symbol of its greatness as how long a clan's great hall would last without being breached or seized would symbolise how great that clan was,

The Lu clan had a saying ´200 years unbreached, 200 years of greatness´ this was to highlight their might and how the Lu clan stood the test of time, and if one day their great hall was ever breached that would be a great humiliation, enough to cause many of the clansman to bury themselves in shame and even cause this great kingdom to fall apart.

as most of their subjects would rebel deeming them unworthy to serve, as such great halls were often the most guarded place in a clan.

She also spoke of how max should not speak before asked as he has no qualification to speak in the great hall no matter how strong he might, be or was and was only able to enter because she was the leader of the clan and had informed the elder's council, and if he did speak this would be seem as a great disrespect to the clan itself and their ancestors.

as outsiders had no right to speak in the great hall before their ancestors eyes without permission.

The consequences of such action would lead to all clans man attacking him and the one who slayed him would receive great honor and be recorded in the clans meritorious men and deeds.

Ai sayama stressed of its importance that max not speak as even if he escaped he would be haunted by the clan.

till one of them no longer exists as failing to kill him would lead to them being humiliated by other clans, she also spoke of how it would affect her too causing her to be punished as she had brought him into the great hall. Max understood that he should remain quiet as he wants to use this clan to build his own force not to become their eternal enemy.

Ai sayama walked into the hall max following behind her, the hall was magnificent in built looking very big, it had statues of the clans founders and those who were greatly respected and on the middle was a huge white stone with blue writing carved that seem to record the history of the clan.

On a smaller stone which wrote ' Unconquered and un-invaded 70 years sayama's glory '. max understood how seriously they viewed the great hall from the little details.

.Ai sayama sat at the chair for the head of the clan,

" quiet " she spoke into the crowd however no one paid her any attention, " quiet in the great hall" she raised her voice.

Max could see the mockery in the eyes of most of the people in the hall even some from her family line.

Ai sayama looked at the crowd in frustration " quiet " a strong voice sounded from outside the hall, every one quickly calmed down and stopped talking upon recognising the voice. A white haired old man walked into the great hall with 4 others.

" good morning elder He " the crowd paid respect to him, " good morning elders " the crowd greeted the rest of the old man behind elder He.

The elders went to take their sits, " lady sayama is the current head of this clan" elder He said as he looked around " as such you shall respect her understood ?" He stressed.

The crowd lowered their heads

"yes elder " the audience replied respectfully.

" lass you should be tough and fearless, as the clan head and a veteran rank 6 you shouldn't allow this brunch of juniors to disrespect you, understand?" The elder spoke to ai sayama.

" yes elder He " ai sayama replied.

Max noticed how after the elders came in the atmosphere of the hall changed and most importantly the white haired elder named elder He took control of the assembly.

Any one who didn't know better would think he was the true leader of the clan. elder He continued to speak, " all the families have been summoned here to the great hall, inorder to discuss an issue of vital importance to this clan"

ai sayama looked gloomy whilst the forth uncle and the third uncle looked expectant,

there were four sons of the previous clan head and ai sayama married the oldest son who later became the clan head with his family as the main line clan family, the other three sons according to when they were born were known as second uncle, third uncle and fourth uncle and each had their own families which made up the clan.

" what do you all think of the current situation of the clan " elder he asked, and instantly many clansmen started expressing their thoughts and feelings

suddenly the third uncle signaled secretly to a middle aged man , receiving the signal the man instantly stood up gathering everyone's attention before speaking " as unfortunate as it is I believe that the main line family of the clan has lost the qualification and the means to lead this clan ".

as soon as he spoke a wave of agreements was heard in the crowd but an elder stood up and protested " I agreed the main line family has weakened but, by no means has it lost the right and qualifications to lead the clan " as soon as he finished speaking ren, the oldest son of the 3rd uncles family stood up immediately.

" elder Dai as much as we all respect you, I question the validity of your opinion as everyone knows you are from the main line family so of cause you would think as such", upon hearing this the elder named Dai was flushed red and looked angry

" 3rd master's son, how dare you a junior question my validity, if you put aside your greed everyone knows that the main family line is still fit to lead and that has nothing to do with me being a part of it" elder Dai spoke with a look of indignation,

however 4 men from the main line family at the signal of the youth called Ren just as elder Dai finished speaking they stood up

" we don't think that lady sayama is fit to lead this family or this clan " one of the 4 men spoke loudly.

As soon as he finished ai sayama and the elder Dai were shocked, ai sayama looked hurt.

" how dare you!!" Elder Dai shouted out furiously,

" now, now elder Dai calm down, this is the great hall you are in" elder He spoke imposingly, elder Dai sat down immediately looking helpless. Ren smirked upon seeing this and he immediately spoke " I propose a new leading family for the clan is selected by ways of clan succession " he spoke, to which the surrounding clans man agreed to.

Ai sayama just watched with max standing behind her.

Seeing that everyone agreed and there were no objections elder He raised his voice" a call for a change of leadership by ways of clan succession has been requested, with the power granted to me as the chief elder I now allow it, by way of clan succession shall be held within 2 weeks " as he finished speaking he stood up

" the assembly may disperse and all clans members shall be free to leave, remember to gather again to the battle hall in 2 weeks ".

Max was greatly confused as what this ways by clan succession meant, but from how ai sayama looked it did not seem as it was in their favor, but by the fact that they would meet in the battle hall in 2 weeks max knew it had to involve fighting. max felt pressured after recognizing his weakness, he didn't want to rely on his void abilities too much. as such as he was currently only a noob level 6 he knew it was going to be a hard challenge.
