Post-Apocalypse: Perfect Genes

The ruins after the nuclear war, the ubiquitous nuclear radiation, deadly diseases, unpredictable mutations, ferocious and powerful mutated creatures, living corpses, and ability domainers who have acquired various abilities through genetic mutations; fraud, robbery, rape, war, death...all of these constitute the main theme of this era. This is an era where humanity is rare and beastly behaviors are rampant. This is an era that looks like hell to most people, but a paradise for a small minority. It is the worst of times, and it is also the best of times, an era in which genes and abilities determine everything.

20, The Living Corpses(1)

In front of the passage, the chaotic voices gradually became louder, and the unique rancid smell of living corpses in the air became more intense. Turning a corner, Lee could see a train leaning over there, blocking most of the entire passage. The subway cars had long been corroded with holes, big and small, and the windows were shattered.

Through the rail windows, Lee could see two living corpses in the outermost compartment, looking around for something to eat.

Lee observed the surrounding environment for a while, moved quietly, picked up a few pieces of rusted iron sheet and a thin iron wire, quietly retreated back to the passage. He pulled the thin iron wire horizontally in the center of the passage, placed the iron sheet on the ground, and then picked up a piece of iron, rolled it into a cone, and sneaked towards the train.

Ding!

Lee tapped lightly on the wall of the carriage.

The knocking sound was not loud, but to the keen hearing of the living corpse, any sound that was not in harmony with the surrounding environment was like thunder.

The two living corpses immediately stopped searching for food and turned around together, just in time to see a figure disappearing outside the rail windows.

In the eyes of the living corpses, where only animal instinct remained, anything moving was delicious prey.

Accompanied by bursts of roars, the two living corpses rushed to the end of the carriage with an agility not inferior to that of a hound.

The front living corpse leaped up, and smashed its head against the broken rail window, with half of its body squeezing out of the side rail window abruptly.

As soon as its head stuck out of the rail window, the living corpse couldn't wait to look around, trying to find the trace of the prey.

With a soft plop, the conical sharp iron sheet pierced from below, easily penetrated its throat, and even cut most of the neck bone!

Lee stood up slowly, ignoring the living corpse who tried vainly to pull out the sharp iron sheet cone, and walked straight to the passage.

Another living corpse blocked in the carriage had already lost patience. It roared, grabbed the leg of the living corpse in front, and pulled it back into the carriage.

The sharp glass on the window frame cut seven or eight deep wounds on the body of the previous living corpse, and the dark red blood mixed with the internal organs flowed down.

But the two living corpses didn't care.

The living corpse with its throat pierced was approaching the end of its life, and the other living corpse hurriedly squeezed out of the rail window, just in time to see Lee's back disappearing around the corner.

The living corpse straightened its neck, roared fiercely, and then exerted its strength suddenly. Its hard feet with long claws stepped on the ground fiercely, and charged across the corner of the passage like a gust of wind!

The living corpse, which was almost flying, suddenly flew off the ground!

It swung back and forth a few times in the air before falling heavily from the wire. As soon as it landed, it immediately roared in pain!

On the ground, several iron pieces with upward sharp corners had pierced deeply into its back, while its front chest was almost cut in half by the iron wire hanging in midair.

With a crisp click, Lee cocked the hammer on his revolver. He walked past the living corpses that had fallen into an unconscious struggle on the ground, completely ignoring it. He slightly raised his head and glanced above, then jumped lightly.

His whole body lissomly rose to a height of more than two meters and boarded the roof of the abandoned train.

A cold light suddenly flashed in Lee's green left eye. He suddenly exerted force, running along the train like lightning, at a speed far exceeding that of a living corpse!

Even at such a fast speed, he barely made a sound. Looking from behind, it seemed like a cloud of black mist slowly drifting away.

Boom! Boom!

Two thunderous gunshots broke the silence of the subway passage. In the train carriage, two living corpses were shot in their heads, and the bullet's huge force almost knocked their entire heads off!

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Four more gunshots sounded almost in succession, and Lee had already reached the end of the train.

Without stopping for a moment, he jumped off the roof of the car, and there were several light kacha sounds in the air. When Lee stepped on the ground again, the revolver had been reloaded.

With force under his feet, his speed increased by 30%, and the ten-meter-long passage passed in an instant. Lee seemed to turn into a gust of breeze, passing by the four living corpses rushing fast in the passage!

Lee suddenly stood still. His body turned around extremely stiffly, and he shot three times with his backhand!

Three living corpses were shot down. And the last living corpse turned around in time, roaring and pounced on Lee!

Lee looked at the living corpse peacefully, without moving.

The living corpse only charged forward a few meters before falling headlong.

At some point in Lee's right hand, he was holding a tungsten-steel dagger painted black to hide the reflection. The moment he passed by just now, it was this dagger that completely cut open the side ribs of the living corpse.

Lee turned around and looked at where the four living corpses came from.

At the end of the passage, two more living corpses appeared, and the strange thing was that these two living corpses were carrying the corpse of an adult ferocious-gopher together. From their red eyes and drooling mouths, Lee could tell that they were hungry.

However, they hadn't eaten the food on their hands.

This was completely inconsistent with Lee's cognition of living corpses.

Living corpses had always been living creatures whose sole purpose of survival was to satisfy their appetites. They simply did not know what abstinence was. If they were given enough food, they were likely to gorge until they died.

Not only these two living corpses, judging from the shriveled stomachs of the four living corpses that just ran over, they were also suffering from hunger.

How could the living corpse not eat the food in his mouth?

Bang Bang Bang!

Lee put down the revolver that was still smoking from the muzzle, and walked towards the two living corpses that could no longer stand up.

This time he missed one shot, and the shot aimed at the forehead hit the chest instead, so he had to make another shot.

At a distance of more than ten meters, the accuracy of the modified revolver became a big problem, and this time his good luck didn't play a big role, and he couldn't solve the problem with one shot.

But a living corpse still made of flesh and blood was no match for gunpowder and metal. No matter where it was hit at such a short distance, there would be a large hole more than 20 centimeters thick in the living corpse.

Amidst the clicking sound, Lee filled the revolver cylinder with rounds first, and then walked through the living corpses, observing them carefully.

Living corpses were creatures with amazing vitality. Even if most of their bodies were blown to pieces, people didn't know if they could still jump up and bit them.

The two living corpses carrying the ferocious-gopher were obviously much thinner than the previous four living corpses, and in the view of Lee, who had dealt with the living corpses a lot, these two living corpses were already old and belonged to a stage in which they were able to move, but their strength had begun to decline significantly.

And what made Lee's green pupil shrink was that the clothes on the four living corpses before were obviously more and better than those on the last two. As for the clothes of the four living corpses, there was not much difference.
