Portal To Love

Two people from different worlds are brought together by something you would either call fate or coincidence. — Aylin's life was pretty ordinary and mundane. However, all that changed when, in her attempt to get away from her ever-persistent ex who wanted her back, she tripped, and fell into a Portal. Aylin didn't realize she'd fallen not only through a portal but into another world — one she thought only existed in fantasy novels, a place where people possessed supernatural abilities. But, as a series of events transpired, including her being labeled a witch and thrown into the dungeon due to her unusual appearance and something you would probably call coincidence, she came to believe that she was in another world. But what happens when help comes from a woman calling herself the Grand Duchess of Zephyr and the Grandmother of the wickedly handsome and crazy duke who ordered her to be thrown into the dungeon? Aylin knew that help never came for free but she would have never thought that the price she had to pay was for her to make the duke fall in love with her in exchange for her life and a place to live. Aylin, who couldn't love, was supposed to make someone fall in love with her. Excerpt: "W-what... What are y-you doing?" Aylin stepped back, her eyes fixed on the figure walking toward her, his footsteps unhurried. Kian smiled and raised one of his eyebrows. "What do you think I'm doing?" As his figure drew nearer, Aylin continued to step back until her back hit the wall. Before she knew it, Kian was already in front of her. He leaned forward and placed both of his hands on the wall on either side of Aylin's head, effectively blocking any possibility of escape. His red eyes locked onto hers for a moment before he spoke again, "The deal you made with my grandmother… Congratulations on successfully fulfilling your part, Aylin." He moved closer, their breaths hitting each other's faces. "You've managed to make me fall for you, Aylin. Now, it's time for you to fall for me."

A Witch Or Not

Confused, Cora stared at her. "What?"

Aylin walked to them, standing in between Cora and the cloaked woman, "I said what proof do you have to call her a witch? And even if she was one, you can't just arrest her because she never did anything wrong."

"Never did anything wrong?! What about what she just did? Besides, Everything about her shows that she is a witch–"

"Everything about her?" Aylin raised one of her brows. "And what exactly are those?"

Before Cora could answer the question, Aylin beat her to it. "Is it because of the cloak? Or…. because she is more beautiful than you?" Aylin asked, remembering what those dead brains said about her.

"Yes."

Aylin raised her brows.

"Witches are known for their disguises, hiding their true form beneath a beautiful countenance. Besides, why does she need to wear a cloak that covers her face, huh? Cora questioned, a smug look on her face. "Also, though some commoners possess magical abilities, they could never compete with a noble. But her powers surpass mine. So, does that answer your question?"

"How are you so sure that she's a commoner?" Aylin sighed, "Okay, so let's say she's a witch, but what did she do for you to arrest her? And don't tell me because she pushed you."

"Being a witch is enough for her to be arrested and killed, all witches deserve nothing but death!"

"Really?" Aylin asked incredulously. "Someone trying to defend themselves deserves death?"

These people were the definition of stupid.

"Don't you think that's extremely narrow-minded? Just because one is bad, doesn't mean all are bad but I don't think you will understand that with the type of mindset, you have."

"And who the hell are you to tell me what type of mindset I should have?"

"A human, just like you. Or maybe better than you because I don't go around hitting pregnant women and calling people witches." Aylin spat.

Aylin had understood the situation when she saw the pregnant woman on the floor earlier and from what the white-haired woman said. The pregnant woman must have done something to anger the spoilt brat and the white-haired woman was trying to plead with her to let go and forgive which the spoilt brat didn't want to do.

Cora glared at her while Aylin looked around and continued to speak.

"Everyone here knows that you were the one who attacked first. So If there's anyone who should be arrested, it should be you."

Cora chuckled, "I only attacked her because she deserved it, she kept running her mouth like she was above me. She insulted me, she asked for it!"

The white-haired woman came forward." And as I said earlier, I never insulted you Milady."

"Shut–"

"Yes, she never did, she only spoke the truth but you twisted her words into what you wanted them to be." Aylin cut her off.

"Shut up! Just shut your mouth okay?!" Cora yelled. "I don't care if she lied or not, they disrespected me and they have to pay for it. They have to be punished for disrespecting and insulting the count's daughter!"

"Tsk tsk tsk…" A female voice came from the crowd and Aylin turned to see Rhea walking toward them.

"I must say, Cora, you've created quite a scene. A very interesting and demeaning one by the way." Rhea commented, standing in front of Cora who stared at her with wide eyes. "And… You haven't changed one bit, still the stupid spoilt little brat."

"Rhea?" Cora called, surprise evident in her voice.

"Lady Rhea, It's Lady Rhea to you. Don't forget that."

Ignoring what Rhea said, Cora questioned, "When did you get back?"

Rhea tilted her head. "Do I have to tell you that? No, I don't. And as I said earlier, this scene is… Interesting but it's getting dragged on. I heard everything, Cora, though it was fun seeing you insulted and being put in your place, I think it's time to wrap things up so why don't you apologize and save the last bit of your dignity hmm?"

"Are you crazy Rhea? I will never apologize and I can't believe that you are supporting a witch–"

"Why won't I support her? she's my friend." Rhea cut her off.

"Friends?! Since when did you become friends with a witch?" Cora asked in shock.

"Not the witch," Rhea strolled to Aylin and held her hand, smiling sweetly. "Her. she is my friend."

"Her?" Cora scoffed.

"Yes, her. What? Are you also going to call her a witch?" She looked around before facing Cora, her hand still clasping Aylin's arm. "Because she's more beautiful than you or any other women here?" Rhea taunted, a smirk dancing on her lips as she enjoyed the expression on Cora's and all the women's faces.

"Plus you right?" A voice asked from the crowd, drawing everyone's attention.

Aylin shifted her head to the side to see a woman with light brown hair that turned golden under the sunlight—adorned with ornaments that fell in waves over her shoulders and back, and her tall figure was draped in a hazel off-shoulder tulle gown, which matched the color of her hair perfectly. She looked to be about Aylin's age, but her pale skin and brown eyes made her almost look older, and yet her posture showed youthfulness.

Aylin raised an eyebrow.

Was this person in love with the brown color or what?

Now standing in front of them with a wide and vibrant smile, the woman in all brown turned to Rhea, "Rhea I didn't know you were back. If I knew, I would have visited you."

"I don't think that would have been necessary Rowena, I didn't exactly want you to know or visit me," Rhea said with a laugh. "And yes, of course, you know me, I never claim to be something I'm not. Besides, since you are here, you should be added. Right, Rowena?" She asked innocently and Aylin who didn't understand what she was saying turned to look at her.

"I mean, you can't deny that Aylin is more beautiful than you are," Rhea added with a grin, and Aylin's eyes widened.

Didn't Rhea know that she was insulting them and also putting her in a spot? She didn't want any more trouble. Especially not with someone she just fucking met.

"Of course, she's just so good-looking that it's suspicious." Cora came over and stood beside Rowena.

Aylin rolled her eyes. So it was a crime to be beautiful?

"Or you simply can't believe that there's someone much better and gorgeous than anything you've ever seen before." Rhea paused. "Or wait! Is it because all the attention that you forced on yourself will be gone now?"

"No. It's because she's a witch! Yes! She's a witch. Don't you see Rhea? She's using you! She became friends with you so that you would defend and help her whenever she is in trouble! And besides, why did she stand up for this witch huh? Because they are both witches–"

"Cora!" Rowena's stern voice rang out and Cora immediately turned to face her.

"You can't just go around calling people witches if you have no proof of backing up your words. Do you know what you're doing? You are not only insulting them Cora, but you're also slandering them!" Rowena stated sternly, and Aylin was stunned while Rhea rolled her eyes seemingly not interested in what Rowena was saying.

"B-but... it's the truth!" Cora claimed.

"Cora... You could get arrested for this." Rowena said and Cora's eyes widened while Rhea's sparkled in mirth.

"W-what? Arrested? But why?!"

"Because slandering is an offense," Aylin said.

"Yes, Cora. It's an offense, a serious one." Rowena added.

"Even I know that much. But it seems that as always your stupid self doesn't know." Rhea commented.

"But I'm not slandering anyone if I'm telling the truth!" Cora proclaimed, not wanting to give up.

"Yea, but do you have any evidence?" Aylin was smiling inwardly at the expression on Cora's face.

A minute ago, she was all high and mighty but now, she was quivering.

"Yes! She–"

"If what you said earlier, those aren't evidenced unless you can prove it. You are stupid, aren't you?" Aylin added and Cora opened and closed her mouth like a fish out of water.

When Rowena saw that her friend couldn't say anything else, she sighed and turned to Aylin. "I'm sorry on behalf of Cora, she's –"

"You don't need to apologize on behalf of her Rowena, she should apologize. Right, Aylin?" Rhea asked with a smile and Aylin nodded.

"Yes, you shouldn't apologize on her behalf. She should apologize and not to me but to them." Aylin said and turned to the white-haired woman who stood beside the pregnant woman.

Seeing that Cora didn't move, Rhea spoke up. "What? You don't want to? Then would arresting you be better? To me, it would, but to you, I doubt that. After all, you wouldn't want to taint your daddy's precious reputation." She sneered making Cora glare at her for some seconds before moving.

"I–"

"You don't need to apologize, Milady. Your apology means nothing because it doesn't come from your heart." The white-haired woman stated and Cora had to keep her eyes from bulging out of their sockets, with the way she glowered at the woman.

Cora turned to the pregnant woman, "I-i'm s-sorry... I shouldn't have insulted you and I shouldn't have hit you." she said with her head lowered.

"I accept your apology, Milady. I will like to take my leave." She replied.

"Wait." Rowena called, "you're pregnant and maybe even hurt, you shouldn't be walking under the sun in this condition," she said before gesturing for her maid to come over.

"Take her to her house safely. Use the carriage." Rowena instructed and the servant bowed.

"Follow her, she will escort you," Rowena said as she smiled at the woman.

"Thank you, Milady," The woman bowed before leaving while the woman with white hair turned to Aylin.

She smiled brightly, bowing to Aylin. "Thank you for standing up for us Milady, your kindness is highly appreciated."

"You are welcome though I'm not the only one you should thank," Aylin said nodding at Rhea and Rowena, and the woman thanked both of them before turning back to Aylin.

"You have a pure heart Milady, which I hope doesn't get tainted. Also, I'm a witch, but a white one." She whispered, surprising Aylin before bowing one more time. "Goodbye Milady, I hope we meet again."
