After his initial shock and confusion, Justin began to calm down and observe the situation more closely.

Yes, the appearance of Yveltal was shocking and completely out of the blue. It didn't make any sense.

Moreover, Pokémon of this caliber were usually in a deep slumber for extended periods. There hadn't been any news of Yveltal awakening, let alone it suddenly appearing in Sinnoh.

Besides, Justin had worked closely with Reid before.

He didn't know much about Reid's full strength, but based on what he'd heard from Professor Rowan, there was no way Reid would be taken down so easily. Nor would he just stand by and let his colleagues at the lab be put in danger.

Yet Reid hadn't made a move.

As he looked again toward Reid for confirmation, a clear and powerful voice rang out.

"Stop standing around, send out your next Pokémon."

Everyone heard the command clearly, including Paul.

Though Reid hadn't named anyone, Paul knew the words were directed at him.

But Yveltal was still there. How could the battle continue?

At that moment, Paul's mind finally caught up.

After a brief pause, he looked up at the enormous figure with its wings fully spread, forming a "Y" shape in the sky. His pupils contracted slightly.

"Mr. Reid... that Yveltal is actually Unown, right?"

"So you've noticed."

Reid nodded slightly and called Unown.

"Dispel the transformation."

In the next instant, Yveltal's massive body began to dissolve into streams of black and purple energy, gradually becoming transparent until it vanished completely.

Then, Unown reappeared in its place.

Paul took a deep breath as he witnessed the scene.

For some reason, Reid's earlier words echoed in his mind: "Because I'm the strongest."

Even though Paul had done his research, gathering data and knowing that Unowns could only use Hidden Power, he had prepared Pokémon with the perfect type advantage. Yet despite holding every favorable condition, he was no match for Reid.

And it was just that...

He wasn't expecting Unown to have such capabilities.

Even if the manifestation wasn't as powerful as the actual Yveltal, it had definitely surpassed the strength of ordinary Pokémon, overpowering over all of Paul's team.

This wasn't a battle that could be won through simple type advantages.

Reid... wasn't an opponent Paul could defeat by relying on such things.

Even though his initial goal had been merely to beat a single Pokémon, Unown that Reid usually always sends out first, Paul now realized that to even win one battle, he'd need more strength.

"So this is the power of the current Sinnoh Champion and the world's strongest trainer..."

After a moment of silence, Paul recalled Clefable and said, "Let's end this battle for now. But after more training, I'll challenge you again. For now, I'll take my leave."

With that, Paul bowed slightly toward Reid and walked toward Justin.

The researchers, who had just started recovering from the shock of seeing Yveltal manifested by Unown, frowned slightly hearing Paul concede so easily, though it was understandable if they were in his place, they wouldn't want to face a legendary Pokemon just to unnecessarily get their pokemon hurt. So, they didn't mind since being able to see a legendary Pokemon made them satisfied already.

Although a little displeased at result of the fight, Justin led Paul to update his Pokédex information.

Reid smiled as he responded to the Paul. As for Paul suddenly conceding, he truly didn't mind.

With that thought in mind, Reid couldn't help but look forward to the future—when Paul's journey, altered by his own interference, would eventually lead to a fateful meeting between Journey Paul and Sinnoh Ash.

T/N: I don't know why the Author had the researchers harrass Paul just because he surrendered mid-game and that scene was just not fun to read so I changed it and reduced it to the minimum. Hopefully there's less stuff like this in future chapters. 😭
