Thus, for Nidoran, who is destined to be a future ace Pokémon, this is undoubtedly a core skill. With Nidoking's formidable offensive potential combined with the Ability Sheer Force, plus Focus Energy and a Life Orb, Nidoran's output would reach a whole new level.
Double Kick is also an excellent Fighting-type physical move for Nidoran, who possesses the Hustle Ability, giving him a good method to handle Rock-type and Steel-type Pokémon.
Due to the two hits of damage, Double Kick is particularly effective against weak Rock-types and Steel-types that have the Sturdy Ability.
Although Double Kick has a base power of 30, the actual damage output is effectively 60 due to the two hits, which, combined with Nidoran's Hustle Ability, can reach a power of 90.
It's fair to say that Nidoran, equipped with Double Kick, holds his own against Rock, Normal, Steel, Dark, and Ice-type Pokémon.
Currently, Nidoran was diligently training his Double Kick move. Since the move was relatively simple and straightforward to use, he was already executing it quite well.
Sato watched as Nidoran lunged at a heavily battered metal dummy ahead. As he dove, the claws on his front limbs glowed with white light.
Immediately after, two loud "clang" sounds echoed as Nidoran rapidly struck the dummy twice with his fighting energy-encased front claws, leaving two shallow footprints on it, causing the metal dummy to stagger back slightly.
However, after using Double Kick, Nidoran had to pause to let his front limbs recover from the soreness and numbness caused by the recoil.
At his young age, Nidoran had just graduated from his juvenile stage, but his body was still developing, and his bones had yet to fully form and strengthen. Thus, using Double Kick, a close combat move relying on physical prowess, was still a bit taxing for him.
Previously, he could execute Poison Jab effectively and ignore the recoil because that attack utilized the hardest parts of his body, which could withstand the impact well.
Overall, Nidoran's front limb bones weren't yet strong enough to handle the side effects of Double Kick properly. Fortunately, as a Pokémon, his physical attributes were strong, and his recovery abilities were top-notch.
With the help of high-quality PokeBlocks, the pain and numbness in his front limbs faded quickly, allowing him to continue training Double Kick on the metal dummy.
After numerous repetitions of Double Kick, Nidoran's front limbs had begun to adapt to the pressure, and through the cycle of damage and recovery, both his muscle strength and bone density had significantly improved.
Of course, the repeated damage and recovery during training inevitably lead to hidden injuries. Therefore, Sato made sure to take Nidoran to the Pokémon Center for a full recovery after completing his skill training, ensuring that Nidoran wouldn't have any lingering issues.
The heavy "clang clang clang~~" sounds echoed as Nidoran put all his effort into each Double Kick. After a relentless series of 20 Double Kicks, the poor metal dummy finally couldn't withstand the assault and began to fall apart.
Once Nidoran shattered the dummy, Sato immediately called an end to the Double Kick training session. He then filled a basin with warm water to give Nidoran a relaxing massage after exercise.
"If you ever feel your legs in this condition again, stop training immediately, understand? Just look at your front limbs; they're swollen!" Sato said, feeling a bit sorry for Nidoran as he noticed how puffy his forelimbs had become.
"Nido Nido~~" Nidoran obediently nodded in response. After consuming a high-quality PokeBlock, he turned his gaze to Growlithe, who was training hard, with a determined look in his eyes.
The recovery ability of Pokémon is indeed remarkable. After Sato's massage and a brief rest, Nidoran's forelimbs returned to normal. However, Sato decided not to let him continue Double Kick training.
Training has its limits, and while Nidoran's forelimbs appeared fine on the surface, they needed more time to fully recover internally. The earlier condition of his limbs was clearly a result of cumulative hidden injuries from repeatedly using Double Kick.
Since it had only been a little over an hour into the two-hour training session, Sato didn't end Nidoran's training but instead had him practice skills that didn't require physical contact, such as Confusion and Water Pulse.
As a Poison-type Pokémon capable of learning Confusion, Nidoran naturally had stronger psychic power than the average Pokemon, indicating that he had a talent for training psychic energy.
However, compared to Psychic-type Pokémon, Nidoran's potential for developing psychic abilities was quite limited. Even with a lifetime of training, he might only achieve a psychic strength that was about ten times greater than that of an ordinary being.
In contrast, a typical Psychic-type Pokémon could significantly enhance its powers with just a bit of training after birth. Unless Nidoran had some fortuitous encounter later on, his psychic talent would likely remain at this level (after all, Psychic-types rely heavily on their innate abilities).
Sato didn't feel too regretful about Nidoran's limitations in developing psychic powers. Given that Nidoran was a Poison-type Pokémon, which is weak against Psychic-types, being able to develop any psychic ability was already quite fortunate.
After all, Pokémon with strong psychic powers have energy levels several times higher than that of ordinary creatures. Following his psychic training, Nidoran's mental state had noticeably improved, allowing him to function well even with little sleep.
This meant Nidoran effectively gained more training time. Overall, he was now training at least twice as much as Zubat and the others.
Don't underestimate this extra twofold training time; over time, Nidoran's strength would undoubtedly grow much faster than that of the other Pokémon in the team.
In fact, this heightened energy level compared to ordinary creatures is a key reason why exceptionally talented Psychic-types and Psychic-type Pokémon in general, are so powerful.
After all, they already possess greater talent than you do, and with more training time, unless you have a method to close the gap or your opponent is incredibly lazy, how could you possibly catch up?
