This doesn't make sense.

Ugh, this doesn't make any sense," Alex spoke aloud. "My name is Alex and my hobby is collecting things. Why am I saying this again? Because in all the Pokemon fan fiction, the main character only catches a few Pokemon. Fuck, this doesn't make sense."

"Any Pokemon fan would try to catch as many Pokemon as they can if they reincarnated in the Pokemon world. At least, I would," Alex sighed. "Forget it, it's not like I'll be reincarnated in the Pokemon world anyways. I should just go to sleep. I have work to do tomorrow."

As Alex woke up, he was dumbfounded by what he saw. "Where the hell am I?" he exclaimed, his jaw dropping to the floor. He looked around and saw tall glass cases filled with strange things and animals. "Is that a giant Rinnegan? That's the Blue-Eyed White Dragon. Those are the Dragon Balls." Alex couldn't believe his eyes. As he continued to explore, he heard a voice.

"Like what you see?" the voice asked.

"Heck yeah!" Alex responded absentmindedly. "Wait, who are you and where am I?" he asked, trying to compose himself.

"I am called 'The Collector,' and I am one of the rulers of the Omniverse," the voice replied.

"So, do I get to reincarnate in whatever universe I want?" Alex asked, his eyes gleaming with excitement. He had read all kinds of novels and knew where this was going.

"First, follow this arrow," the Collector said, as an arrow suddenly materialized. Alex followed the arrow and soon found himself floating in the air, surrounded by stars and various objects like giant weapons, cars, and ships.

As Alex followed, he couldn't help but admire all the incredible items in the glass cases, ranging from anime artifacts to novel items. Suddenly, the voice spoke again.

"You're here," it said.

Alex turned towards the voice and saw a behemoth of a man and a being that looked like the cosmos, ethereal and majestic, seated on a throne.

"Hello, Alex. I am 'The Challenger,' and I am 'The Collector,'" the cosmic being introduced themselves. "I am sure you have many questions, and we will answer whatever we can."

"Will I be reincarnated into any world I want, and will I keep my memories?" Alex inquired, hope shining in his eyes. He had always dreamed of being reborn into a different world.

"Yes, you will retain your memories, but you will be reincarnated into the Pokemon world," the Challenger answered.

"That's not bad. But why me?" Alex asked, puzzled. He thought he would have to accumulate good karma for such an opportunity, like in most reincarnation novels.

"Because we see a similarity between us in some way," the Collector explained.

"Pardon me, but I'm being reincarnated because you like the way I think? That's it?" Alex was taken aback. He had expected some cosmic justice or divine intervention, not simply being chosen based on personal preference.

"Haha, that's not how we rulers do this. We do what we want to do," the Challenger chuckled.

"I guess that makes sense," Alex thought to himself. "Will I receive any special abilities or powers?" he asked, hoping for a "golden finger" like the protagonists in other novels.

"Yes, you will have your cheat. Now, choose the difficulty," the Collector replied.

"What's the difference in difficulties?" Alex inquired.

"The higher the difficulty, the higher the chances of your survival. The more difficult it is, the more we will interfere. Even in the easy mode, some have died despite having their memories and cheat," the Challenger explained.

"Wow, there are some dumb people out there," Alex remarked. "I choose the high difficulty."

"Good. Even with our interference, if you choose the highest difficulty, you would still have a 5/10 chance of survival. Goodbye," the Collector said abruptly.

"Wai--" Alex's words were cut off, and all that was left was darkness.
