Chapter 96

'What the heck? While Vioarr was running around, they already got like a gazillion moves off!' Feeling the pressure, Jax had Vioarr stop running around the stage and had him stand in the far corner. Onix would have to go to them if it wanted to attack his brother! "Vioarr, show them that you aren't only a physical attacker! Star 1!"

Throughout all of the fights that had been observed by others, Vioarr had only ever used physical attacks against his opponents. The first time that deviated was just earlier when he used Thunderbolt! It was time to show Evans that Vioarr was more than just a brute, he was a special brute!

For Star 1, Vioarr had a very simple job. Just like Square 1, he just had to channel some of his special attacking moves together and attack and once the move landed, the only thing their opponents will see will be stars! While they were out training in the Great Beyond, Jax and Vioarr tried their deadly combination moves again.

These combination moves were different from just doing a [Thrash (M)+Horn Drill (M)]. That was just using two moves back to back. No, a combination move was more like [Thrash Drill (EX)]! Combining two moves and making a whole new more deadly move! After months of training and working on it, Vioarr could safely combine five physical moves together without having the energy run out of control.

Physical moves were powered by a pokemons body. The stronger the body and the bigger the vessel to hold that energy, the more moves he could combine into a single move. But special attack moves were far, far harder. Why? Because where the heck did special moves even come from? Sure, a Charizard using Flamethrower made sense but a Nidoking summoning lightning with Thunderbolt? How!?

Since the energy from special attacking moves came from who-knows-where, Vioarr had a harder time combining them and until now, could only combine any two special attack moves to form one new one. These two moves could not both be at the master rank but he could combine a master rank move with a non-master rank move. This was the first time they were trying to implement it in an actual battle…and neither Jax nor Vioarr knew how it would go.

As the bellowing winds still kept twirling sand around the battlefield due to Tyranitar's Sand Stream, light started to poke holes from the top little by little before the sand was cleared and only a sunny sky was left. Sky? Inside a building?

Vioarr had used [Sunny Day (1)] in preparation for his next combination move! Still standing in the far corner away from Onix, Evans and his Goldy could only look on as the violet monstrosity's power level kept rising and rising with no sign of stopping!

"Goldy, GO! I don't know what they're up to but we can't let them finish! Use Iron Tail to smack the ground and then follow it up with Earthquake! Hopefully, the shockwaves will interfere with whatever they're doing!"

With a shining tail tip, Onix coiled up around himself before releasing like a scrunched-up spring and slamming his tail into the ground! With Earthquake right at the point of impact, the fusion of moves caused the bigger hole to break out on the stage ruining even further what Tyranitar had started and the after quakes quickly travelled, spreading throughout the whole stage right to where Vioarr was!

"NOW!" With Jax's desperate cry, Vioarr opened his inferno eyes and released all the energy he had been storing in a delicate balance in his body!

WHOOSH!

Even faster than that Thunderbolt, something incredibly powerful stemmed from Vioarr's feet, went underground and travelled towards Onix! When Earthquake and Mystery met at midway, a huge explosion occurred with magma erupting out from the cracks and spilling out over the sides.

Thinking that the two powers offset each other, Evans was about to relax when he noticed that his Goldy's Earthquake was actually out scaled and being pushed back! 'W-what is happening!? Was their move not another Earthquake? Why is it still spreading towards us???"

As if to answer is question, the move from the amethyst titan reached Goldy and swallowed it up whole! Red, black, and nothing was the only thing left when the move landed! Not knowing how his pokemon was faring, Evans took out a ball and recalled his pokemon right before whatever it was that was coming their way could do any real damage to Goldy.

In that split second, Evans witnessed his gold Onix's body light up as if it was on fire and cracks formed on its boulders. A second longer and who knows? His body might have just shattered into golden flakes and the beast of gold would have ceased to exist!

While Evans was still having cold sweat roll down his back at the close save, the rest of the onlookers had their mouths hanging wide open for the second time today. The first time was through a well calculated and daring plan of wits to scored a victory in favor of the boy. Even if the reporters and guests did not see exactly what happened when the flash of yellow struck, they could at least understand to a certain extent what happened. But this? The only had one word in their minds at this current moment, Monster.

Still trying to wrap their heads around all the devastation they were witnessing on stage, the referee blew her whistle signaling that the Gym Leader than recalled his pokemon and that he only had 30 seconds to call out his next one or he would be penalized. Leon, on the other hand, had a dark shadow casted on his face.

'Tsk. That brat used that move again. Although it's similar to when I stopped it in the first academy competition, this one is still a little different. Stronger, yes, but more than that. Like…like it's out of this world. Back then, I could tell that Nidoking was pushing his body to the max and his moves grew qualitatively but this time was too different compared to then.' Not sure how to explain the phenomenon that he had just observed with his aura, Leon fell into deep contemplative thinking.
