Hu Yang was uncertain whether ghosts existed in the Pokémon world, but he knew that Ghost-type Pokémon did exist in this world. These Pokémon often came and went stealthily, lurking in the shadows of cities and abandoned buildings. Their presence was marked by a drop in temperature, and they had the eerie ability to shroud themselves in the likeness of deceased humans, inciting fear in the hearts of people.
This unsettling phenomenon often led to panic among humans. In both the anime and games, there existed a concept of the "Spirit World." Legend had it that this realm served as the domain of Ghost-type Pokémon and was considered the kingdom of the dead. Dusknoir, the guardian of the Spirit World, would traverse between the realms of the living and the dead, guiding wandering souls to their final resting place.
Could Pokémon be responsible for the nightmares that had plagued Hu Yang for the past two days?
While Cramorant had gone for a stroll earlier, only Hu Yang and Budew remained in the room. They stared intently at the reappeared orb, pondering its connection to the strange occurrences.
Could it be Darkrai, the deity of nightmares, causing these disturbances? Or perhaps a Lampent, known to absorb the life energy of humans? If the latter were true, falling asleep might be perilous!
Hu Yang contemplated, "In reality, Lampent might not be as dangerous as depicted in the anime."
With this thought in mind, he rolled out of bed and began his day. After breakfast, he headed to the library to explore related books on the matter.
According to the books, most Ghost-type Pokémon exhibited sinister and cunning characteristics, and some even actively attacked humans, causing injuries and even loss of life.
Upon leaving the library, Hu Yang sought out Riga, who enjoyed capturing photos of Wild Pokémon, and borrowed a camera. He placed the camera by his bedside as a precaution.
Fearing the orb's influence, Hu Yang and Budew spent the day outside, only returning to the room at night. Before retiring for the night, they disposed of the orb by tossing it into a river on the mountainside of the school.
After taking a shower, Hu Yang settled into bed, hoping for a peaceful night's sleep.
However, the night remained turbulent, and when he awoke the next morning, the orb had returned, just as he had expected.
Hu Yang wasn't particularly surprised. He retrieved his camera and, accompanied by Budew, nervously reviewed the footage from the previous night.
"Gah?"
Cramorant, observing the scene, decided to mimic Hu Yang and Budew, curiously inspecting the video playback.
The camera was turned on, and during Hu Yang's initial adjustments, there was a faint sound, and the lens shook slightly before stabilizing, capturing a clear image.
As Hu Yang had sped up the recording to identify the culprit faster, the moon had risen high in the night sky, casting its pale, luminous glow through the window onto the desk.
An hour passed, then two, and three...
Suddenly, a round, black shadow materialized on the screen.
"Cramorant: 'Gah?'"
"Budew: 'Ni!'"
The faint moonlight illuminated the shadow, revealing its true form.
It was a deep purple entity, round in shape with thorn-like protrusions on its back, and its crimson eyes exuded an eerie aura.
The creature had apparently sensed the camera's presence, as it turned and directed its gaze towards the lens.
A more chilling sight unfolded before them.
The creature's lips curled into a sinister smile.
"Ni!" Budew couldn't bear to watch and shut its eyes tightly.
"Gah?" Cramorant maintained its perplexed expression.
Hu Yang was left speechless, his emotions oscillating between shock and curiosity.
Ultimately, he realized who had been haunting his dreams. It was Gengar, the ultimate evolution of Gastly—a Pokémon notorious for its cunning and penchant for playing tricks on humans.
However, the Gengar before him didn't seem terrifying at all. Its rotund form appeared rather cute and innocent.
Collecting his thoughts, Hu Yang decided to cooperate with the Gengar. He feigned fear, saying, "I'm terrified. Please don't harm me."
Gengar, evidently satisfied, responded, "Afraid, are you? I won't harm you if you agree to do three things for me. In return, I'll reveal the location of a treasure."
Hu Yang received Gengar's message telepathically, providing him with valuable information.
[Pokémon Species: Vengeful Gengar ♂]
Attribute: Ghost, Poison
Characteristic Trait: Curse-Bound Body
Base Stats: 520 (HP: 60, Attack: 65, Defense: 60, Special Attack: 150, Special Defense: 75, Speed: 110)
Known Moves: Hypnosis, Spite, Mean Look, Night Shade, Confuse Ray, Sucker Punch, Shadow Ball, Dream Eater, Dark Pulse, Hex, Nightmare
Current Mood: ???
Physical State: Spirit Form (a special state following death, characterized by lingering attachments; different from ordinary Ghost-types as it cannot interact with the physical world and cannot be touched)
Friendliness: 5 (favorable disposition toward how you treat Pokémon)
Hu Yang began to realize that something was amiss. Gengar's Special Attack stat was exceptionally high. While ordinary Gengar had a Special Attack of 130, this one had soared to 150. This led Hu Yang to suspect that, like the colossal Dragonite in Bill's Lighthouse, Jigglypuff in the super ancient ruins, and Ash's Greninja, this Gengar had transcended its natural limits due to special circumstances.
As Hu Yang gazed at the mysterious orb in the room, he couldn't help but wonder if it was related to Gengar's appearance.
However, upon closer inspection, he noticed that the information displayed on the orb had changed.
[Sealing Orb: An ancient artifact passed down through the ages, capable of containing entities of spiritual essence.]
