Chapter 5

It had been about a week since we started training Charmander's abilities and in this time we have made great strides, there hasn't been any progression in levels, but his control of the moves he currently has is like night and day from what it was initially.

If you said his progress before was someone just starting out in a martial art, with little control of what he does and unfamiliarity with the moves, then he would probably be at the point of someone who had been practising for a few years.

It has simply been surprising how quick he has adapted to his moves and his ability to control the output,

'Growl' has seen the most progress out of the three, mainly due to the fact that it doesn't cause "much" damage. I say much cause our practice has definitely caused some damage to the surroundings. Charmander has been able to blast it out at a wide range and affect a larger area, but he has also managed to narrow the area of effect and focus it on singular targets.

'Scratch' has made good progress in the reduction of lethality, it seems like some normal type energy is moved into the claws when the move is executed and he has managed to be able to limit the amount, nothing significant but just enough to not bisect any dummies. Don't get me wrong the move would still cause grievous injuries on someone that would require immediate medical care, its just no longer fatal.

'Ember' has probably seen the least amount of progress, yes, he has been able to affect the temperature, though it seems reducing the temperature is much harder than increasing it is. We are still working on it and it seems like it will just be a matter of time.

I have also started some training for my body as well as attempting on something for my aura and psychic abilities. I would definitely say that my progress in aura training was coming along much better than psychic, but when my psychic training is non-existent, then it doesn't say much about my progress for aura. I have managed to feel a single time some form of energy or life force, I don't know how best to describe it.

Since then, I haven't felt it at all, thinking that if I want to progress either aura or psychic, I would most likely need a Pokémon that also can use those abilities. I'm thinking that maybe Lucario, as the only Gen 1 Pokémon that can learn it are Mew and Mewtwo. Psychic I would need to look at something along the lines of Abra, which gets me excited as its one of my favourite Pokémon out there.

Apart from that I have been making sure I am in shape physically, for what I had planned I need to make sure that I can keep up with my Pokémon and whatever comes at us. Now what I've noticed in the last week is that the training I have been doing, well for some reason the results I get from it are significantly more advanced than what I would normally expect to get.

I have no idea what the reason behind that is, after all none of my special abilities are anything more advanced than beginner, unless even the beginner level has some sort of underlying enhancement effect. This would mean that the aura capabilities are affecting my physical abilities and would that then mean the psychic abilities would enhance the way my brain functions. This deserves some studying, and some actual studying for me to study the studying ability of my ability....see what I did there hehehe.

Now that we have a bit of a handle on our capabilities then I figured it would be about time to see just what I can do to help this world. I know I said before that I wanted to make a new Pokemon world but first I need to see the current situation and build my power before I approach a power or organisation of authority to work with. If I can figure out how to generate drawing chances then I can start building my support base and team.

Waiting until it got dark before I went out I checked my status to see where I stood,

STATUS

NAME: SAMUEL FARTHING

AGE: 21

LEVEL: 0/??

EXP: 0/500

JOB: N/A

BOND: CHARMANDER (68%)

DRAW CHANCES: 1

POKEMON: 1/∞

POKEMON STORAGE: 0/∞

ABILITIES/ PERKS: Mental Fortitude(MAX), Genetic Anomaly, Inventory, Inspect (MAX), Aura (Beginner), Psychic (Beginner)

Wait what? How did that happen? How come I managed to get another draw chance, I did nothing. Trying to figure out what happened and in the past week what could have happened that impacted them. Nothing….nothing at all happened yet I got another chance.

If it's nothing I did then maybe its entirely unrelated to any action by Charmander or myself. What if its time? Maybe I slowly generate drawing chances over time, but there could then be other actions that give me them quicker, I just need to figure it out.

Putting it to the back of my mind I turn to Charmander,

CHARMANDER LVL 5

GENDER: MALE

ABILITY: BLAZE

BOND: 68%

HEALTH: 100%

STAMINA: 100%

MOVES: Scratch(BGNR), Growl (INT), Ember

NOTE: A bond of less than 40% will cause Pokémon to ignore some commands

Hmmm apart form the increase in bond, the only change are those little annotations next to his moves. Maybe just like my aura and psychic abilities can advance so could my Pokemon's moves. This is extremely handy as it will let me know how their skills are developing, very handy to give me some guide to know what to train and the level they are at.

Ok let's get this show on the road, looking at Charmander I broached the topic, "so would you like to go back into storage? It might be a bit time consuming if I have to bring up the menu and summon you if I get into an altercation. You could also stay out but we might draw some unnecessary attention, though now I think about it we could give a poke ball a try?". Getting a confused look from the little guy I realised that he didn't know what they were.

"Hey do you remember what your home was like before you came here?", getting another just as confused look from him I had no idea what to do with that. He did have a life before this didn't he? I mean he is level 5 so he had to start from somewhere….. didn't he?

"Testing testing 1 2 3, testing can you hear me?"

Sighing in exasperation I respond. "Yes I can hear you."

"Oh good to hear, so uh I was hoping you would just ignore that little level bit right there, though knowing you, now it crossed your mind that will be pretty impossible."

".... Sure, so what's the deal with the Pokémon then? Why doesn't Charmander remember about anything from his home?"

"Well, that's because he isn't from the Pokémon world."

"Wait what? Then where do they come from? They have to come from somewhere, we're talking about living breathing creatures right here. They have levels and abilities; how could they have that if they didn't exist before?"

"Because the system generates them, ok let me simplify it for you, I ran the idea of your Gameboy game into the system, linked with the other generations, but you'll have to unlock those at later time. This means that like the Charmander you get at the start from ol' Oak, they start at level 5. That's going to be pretty across the board, so any Pokémon you get will be level 5, though there are some extenuating circumstances that are outside that."

Hmmm that oddly made some kind of sense,

"Well with that all done I'm out. Cya kid, good luck with your next partner.....uh maybe forget I said that..... Okaybyebye."
