190: It's me

The voices were coming from a hole, and as he approached, he saw two men climbing out of it, each holding a shovel. They were dressed like hikers and seemed to be in their forties.

"Oh, hello there, are you looking for treasures as well?" One of them asked after spotting him.

"Yes," he answered, dropping his guard. These two were just hunting for treasures, he realised.

"I see you have the same map as well," he said, showing them the map in his hand.

"So, you were also duped, eh?" the man chuckled. "I think we are going to leave. There's nothing to be found on this island. I heard a rumour that there was supposed to be a ruin nearby, but we couldn't find it."

"Well, I'm just trying my luck here," he replied with a wry smile.

"Good luck then," said the two hikers as they packed up their bags.

After saying goodbye to them, he continued to search the whole island for treasures. But in the end, they didn't even find a single thing even after searching for a whole day.

"I guess this was a waste of time," he sighed.

"Rati-cate!"

"Did you find anything?" He looked at Raticate, who was jumping about excitedly.

The Mouse Pokemon nodded and then turned around. It beckoned for them to follow, then trotted off. He cast a glance at Gardevoir, who only shrugged and started to follow Raticate.

A while later, they reached a hole that was big enough to fit two people and saw Raticate jumping into it. It poked its head out and cried out to them before going back in.

"What did it said just now?" he asked Gardevoir.

"It said it found a large door," Gardevoir replied.

"A door? Could it be…" he trailed off, recalling the conversation he had with the hikers earlier.

Minutes later, he and Gardevoir were crawling through a hole before finding themselves in an underground cavern.

"Rati-cate!"

He heard Raticate yell as he rose up and brushed the dust off his clothing. He then looked up and saw Raticate standing in front of a massive stone door.

Stepping closer to the door, he saw a few symbols etched all over it. The same ones he saw back in Mount Hideaway. He tried to push it open, but it was too heavy for him.

"Can you give me a hand?" he said to Gardevoir.

With Gardevoir's help, they were able to push the door open. Beyond the door he discovered a temple just like the one he saw back then. Seeing nothing dangerous, he decided to check it out. As he climbed the flight of stairs, one of his Pokeball suddenly opened by itself.

"Huh? Misdreavus? Why did you come out?" he asked, feeling confused.

However, Misdreavus ignored him and flew straight into the temple.

"Hey wait!" He began chasing after her, along with Gardevoir and Raticate.

He came to a stop when he saw Misdreavus stopping above an altar. But before he could call her, a purple glow radiated from the altar as black markings appeared on her face.

Before long, the altar's light faded and a portal appeared behind her. Misdreavus then flashed him a smile before closing her eyes.

"Misdreavus!" The moment she started to fall, he swooped in and caught her.

When he found that she only passed out from exhaustion, he let out a sigh of relief. Now that she was safely back in her Pokeball, he could finally concentrate on the portal in front of him.

'What do I do now?' he thought to himself.

Although he wanted to leave and let someone else deal with this, his instinct was telling him to enter the portal that he had no idea where it led.

'Screw it. What's the worst that can happen?'

Having made up his mind, he then sent a message with his location to his friends, asking them to come and find him if he didn't return in a day. After putting Raticate back in its Pokeball, he and Gardevoir entered the portal.

When he finally opened his eyes, he found himself in some kind of tomb. Turning back, he was relieved to see that the portal was still there.

Just as he was about to look around, he suddenly heard someone shouting. Glancing ahead, he saw a few people coming toward him in a haste.

"Who are you? This is a restricted area! And what is that thing beside you?" the man in the lead yelled.

'Archeologists?' he thought with a frown. 'Why do they seem to have never seen a Pokemon before?'

"Tell me what you're doing here, or I'll report you to the authorities!"

"Gardevoir, take them out!" he ordered.

"Yes!" Gardevoir replied while raising her hand toward them. In a matter of seconds, every one of them fell under Hypnosis.

"Find out who they are and where we're at right now," he said to Gardevoir before heading in the direction where they had come from.

A small passage went on before he finally saw the exit. When he stepped outside, he was met with nothing but sand and there was a pyramid behind him. Shortly after, Gardevoir returned to him.

"Done?" he asked.

"Yes, they're all archaeologists working in this area," Gardevoir replied.

"I thought so too. Did you find out where we are?"

"Yes, we are in a country called Egypt."

"What did you say?" He snapped his head to her. Did he hear that wrong?

"Egypt," she answered, her face puzzled. "Why do you seem surprised? Do you know where we are right now?"

'I'm back on Earth?'

After a long time of silence, he finally managed to get himself together.

"I think I know where we are. Do you know where the next town or city is?" he asked, sounding a little excited.

"There's a town about ten miles away from us." She pointed in the north direction.

A few hours later, he arrived in front of a police station. Stepping into the building, he made his way to the front desk.

"Hello, I think I got lost. Can I borrow your phone to call someone?" he asked the policewoman.

The policewoman glanced at him up and down before giving a nod. "Sure. You can use that phone in the hallway."

"Thank you."

He thanked her before moving towards the phone. He picked up the phone to his ear, dialled a number and waited.

"Click! Hello?"

"...It's me."

A few years later, somewhere on Earth, a student woke up from his nap and realised that the world had changed.

"Is that a Pokemon?"

But that's another story.

—The End—

AN: I ran out of idea to write on this one. I was thinking of leaving it at that, but I kinda felt a little bad if I don't put the ending in. So there you go. Thank you for reading!
