First Gym Battle... Accidentally crushed him!

The next day

Ace was running on the street with his Pokemon, looking at the new city with awe.

This system is really something else!

So pretty!

As he was running here, a young man stopped him, "Mister, Nurse Joy said that you're the Gym Leader?" Ace stopped and looked at the young man, smiling, "You're here for the Gym Challenge, kid?"

The young man rubbed his nose and smiled, nodding. Ace looked at this guy and laughed, "You have guts, kid! Come on, follow me." as he continued running. The kid followed him quickly, running next to Ace.

Ace looked at him and smiled.

A few hours later

The young guy was holding his knees and gasping for breath. Ace looked at him, not even sweating, sighing, "Kid, you need some serious training!" The young kid pointed at Ace and wheezed before holding his knees again.

Ace shook his head and picked the kid up, dragging him over to the man made lake next to the Gym. Ace threw the kid in and whistled as a Tirtouga appeared with the drenched young man on his shell, chirping happily.

Ace smiled and squatted at the edge, holding out some Pokeblocks, "Here little guy. Are you feeling good here?" Tirtouga ate from Ace's hand, chirping happily with a nod. Ace smiled gently, rubbing his head, "Don't let that kid drown, he's tired from running."

Tirtouga saluted with his fin as Ace chuckled, scratching his chin.

This guy is so cute!

Ace got up and sprinkled more Pokeblocks into the Lake, throwing them out as he walked into the Gym.

He looked at the rocky arena and nodded to himself, turning around and looking at all the amenities. It was a very nice Rock Type Gym! The only problem was…

Ace looked at the Pokeballs in his hand… None of these guys were Rock Types!

He paused and scratched his head, turns out being a Gym Leader is so tough! He sighed suddenly, looking at the skylight, "Is this what it's like to suffer from success?" He jumped and sat on a Rock, releasing all the little guys.

Dreepy, Applin, and Flaaffy appeared, looking at him. Ace smiled at them and said, "Go play." The three looked at each other happily, running around. Ace watched them with a smile, crossing his legs and leaning his elbow on his knee, holding his cheek.

After a couple dozen minutes

The young man walked in with a new set of clothes, looking upset, "Hey! What was that for?" Ace looked at him and smiled, "You really need training, kid. I could run double that at your age. You shouldn't forget to train yourself on your journey, it can save your life."

The young kid shook his head and held out a Pokeball, "I came for the badge, Uncle!" Ace's lips twitched, what was with these brats calling him uncle!?

Ace leaned over and asked curiously, "What kind of battle?" The young kid was startled, "What do you mean?" Ace looked at him strangely, "You don't know?" the kid shook his head and Ace explained patiently, "There's 1v1, Double Battles, Rotation Battles, Triple Battles, 3v3, 2v2, No Switch…"

The kid was dazzled and looked at Ace with a blank gaze. Ace looked back at him and sighed, "How many Pokemon do you have, kid…" The kid recovered, "Oh, uh, 2!" Ace nodded and jumped down, "Let's do a Double Battle."

The kid looked curious and Ace taught him, "In Double Battles, you have to command two of your Pokemon at once and create synergies that compliment each other to the greatest effect." he looked behind him and said gently, "Dreepy, Applin, come and play a game."

The kid looked at the two Pokemon he had never seen before and was dumbfounded, holding out his RotomDex, "What kind of Pokemon are those?!" Ace rubbed his chin and said, "Forget it…"

He turned to the side and took out his phone, swiping on the screen.

Dreepy and Applin's stats appeared on the large screen next to the arena!

The kid looked over and shouted, "Dragon!? I thought this was a Rock Gym!" Ace's lips twitched, "It is." The kid pointed at the screen and looked at him as Ace looked awkward, "I don't have any Rock Types weak enough for you…"

The kid froze and turned green, throwing out his Pokemon, "Come out, Budew, Psyduck!" Ace looked at the two and then the kid, who looked serious. He looked at Dreepy and Applin, muttering, "Maybe tell Nurse Joy to let out a warning?"

The kid's lips twitched and Ace held out his phone, "You can start, kid." as he tapped on his phone with his thumb. The kid was about to speak when music started playing. Ace crossed his arms and grinned.

Specifically, 'It's Pizza Time' from Pizza Tower!

The kid was dumbfounded and felt his blood pumping as he shouted, "Psyduck, Water Gun, Budew, Growth!" Ace nodded and said, "Dreepy, Helping Hand. Applin, Pounce on Budew."

Dreepy clapped his hands happily as Applin turned on the spot getting an attack boost before hitting the ground with his tail, pouncing on Budew!

Psyduck's water gun flew by and Ace added, "Hide in the Shadows, Dreepy." Dreepy dove into the ground and Applin hit Budew as the kid shouted, "Budew! Absorb!" Ace turned his head, "Sucker Punch." before Budew could react, Applin spun around and slapped Budew with his tail.

The Budew flew and hit the ground, pouting sadly.

The Kid frowned, "Confusion!" Pysduck tilted his head at Applin as Ace commented, "Oh… There's two Pokemon, remember?" The kid froze as Ace snapped his fingers, "Shadow Sneak."

Before Psyduck could react, Dreepy crawled on him from his shadow!

Psyduck quacked in shock before fainting.
