Chapter 36 - The First Starter Pokémon

Later, at 10:07 a.m., the tour ferry was back at the piers of Blue Northern Point. Shortly after that, the captain of the tour ferry, with his hat in his hands, apologized to the coast guards and police for his miscalculation on the location of his tour ferry while the tour guide, holding her megaphone, gave herself a facepalm for his mistake. Rico and team and family are on the pier reporting to Officer Jenny when Detective Trevor and his Pyroar came to the scene.

"What happened here?" he asked them.

They then looked at him, and Rico was surprised to see him again.

"Detective Trevor!"

"What happened here?" Trevor asked once more.

In response to that, Officer Jenny gave her notepad to Detective Trevor. Trevor then reads it while nodded a few times in understanding what is going on.

"I see," he said to Officer Jenny. He then gave the notepad back to Officer Jenny, and looked at Rico and his team, asking, "How are you, Rico Cruz?"

"I'm fine, Detective," Rico positively responded back. "I got myself some new Pokémon."

"I see," Detective Trevor responded back. "That's good, Rico. Well, I heard there had been a storm last Christmas. Are you okay?"

"Yes, me and my family and team had managed to evacuate to a higher ground," Rico answered back.

"Okay then. That's good."

Rico then went on to tell Trevor how he met Starly and Absol.

A minute had passed, and Trevor was surprised to hear that story from Rico.

"So that means Absol had chosen you because it thinks you are worthy?"

Rico then nodded. "Yes."

"I see."

This follows with a very short silence.

"So, are going to catch that Piplup?" Trevor asked breaking the silence.

"Oh, yes," Rico honestly replied back.

He then put Piplup down on the ground, get his purchased Great Ball, and said to Piplup, "So, Piplup, you want me to be your Trainer?"

Looking at Rico, Piplup then responded with happy agreement.

With that, Rico went a bit further away from Piplup, and threw his Great Ball towards it while shouting, "Go, Great Ball!"

The Great Ball then hit Piplup, causing the former to open up and the latter to go inside it. After that, the Great Ball closed itself up and fell to the ground while waiting to be fully intact in it. As Rico and Riolu waited, the Great Ball had managed to fully contain Piplup. Having caught his fifth Pokémon, Rico and Riolu ran to it, picked it up, and raised it up high while saying, "Yay! I just caught a Piplup!"

After that, Rico commented to Lucas and Detective Trevor, "I can't believe it, it's my first starter-type Pokémon."

"Yes, congratulations," Trevor replied.

"Yes, but you must take good care of it, okay?" Lucas gave him a reminder.

"Yeah, dad, I get it now."

After all that happening, Rico, his family and team, and Detective Trevor went to a restaurant to celebrate Rico's achievement. Their time was so much fun, with them eating, drinking, and chatting to each other. After lunch, they went back to High Snow City after finding out that the tour to the Piplup Island had been cancelled due to a fact that the tour ferry was mildly damaged. But at least, they had a good and fun time.

Arriving at High Snow City, they spent the rest of the afternoon skiing down the slopes, except that Detective Trevor doesn't want to ski with them.

Later at late afternoon, the family wavered goodbye to Detective Trevor and went back to their hotel to rest up and relax at the hotel's bathhouse. By 9:57 p.m., at their hotel room, Rico documented the day's events by writing in his journal. Piplup and Riolu are watching his creative skills as Rico writes in detail. It was a very peaceful night.
